InterContinental Resort Jiuzhai Paradise

4.0 out of 5.0

Nestled in the Jiuzhai mountains, this sprawling premium resort is surrounded by forest and gardens; part of it sits under a glass atrium and is built to resemble an ancient city. Dining options include a chic Sichuan restaurant, a hot pot eatery, a hip lobby lounge and a relaxed cafe. There's a sauna, plus a gym, a spa and 2 indoor pools.

The hotel is huge with probably more than a 1000 room, elevators are fast for such a big hotel. The room is spacious and there is a balcony (which we haven't use). The room's lighting was brighter than the lobby but still kind of dark in my opinion. The hotel has several selections of restaurants, children play area, a small arcade and display cases with peacocks.

This is the best hotel there is @Jiuzhaigou county, to my mind. The hotel is old & so the pix from the Hotel website can be misleading, I m sure it was that grand when it was first open years ago, after all this is the hotel built & masterminded by the Daughter of one of the most Chinese Premiers of all time. So try to keep your expectation low but be prepared to pay Premium for everything at Jiuzhaigou , especially accommodation. The hotel is huge and has everything including various restaurants , bars & even a huge swimming pool but u need to pay extra to use it.

Huge hotel with a confusing layout. Mainly caters to Chinese tourists. Rooms and facilities need renovation, the facing on the furniture was falling off and I never had hot water in the shower. Breakfast is a real scrum. Good noodle bar at dinner. Located on the side of town closest to the airport and slight away from the masses.

The lobby is huge and has a large selection of restaurants for you to choose from which is a plus since you are very far away from anything else when staying at the IC resort. It is a huge resort with over 1000 rooms. The rooms have a weird design to then that made it slightly uncomfortable to stay in. There are these steps in every room and a huge sofa that takes up a lot of walking space and the bathroom is small with dead, unused space left by the shower. It is also quite old. There are a wide selection of animals on display: swans, ducks, peacocks, deer etc which was exciting. The breakfast buffet was average with noodle and omelette stations.

We arrived late at the hotel, and from the outside, the dome design and the sheer size of the hotel was impressive. There are actually over 1000 rooms in this hotel. Much of the atrium and common areas at night are not well lit for good photos, so we did not take too many after our arrival. We did not get a chance to use the pool or spa, but the Shunxing Chinese Restaurant was excellent choice for delicious Sichuan cuisine. In the morning, the breakfast buffet restaurant had an excellent selection and we were overall quite pleased with the service and food quality. While the design of this hotel is fascinating, it is easy to tell that the Intercontinental Hotel Group needs to spend some money to update/reburbish the common areas and many of the rooms. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.

I spent two nights in this hotel. I quite like the design of this hotel. The room is spacious with two queen size beds, it has a sitting area with a fireplace and a small balcony but there is no bathing tub in my room, only shower is available. The wardrobe under the bath sink is a bit old and worn out, renovation is needed. Also, there are maintenance problems, the tv didn't work in my room, the torch for emergency use wasn't light up too. The breakfasts were only so so, the dinner was better but cannot match the standard of the Intercontinental Group, in my opinion.

Their room size was good, but out of maintenance. Friendly staff but the level of services was not up to an international hotel chain standard; seems insufficient training or managing at this hotel. - sloppy housekeep that only did the minimal; washroom cleaned daily but the opened shampoo was sit in shower as it was all 3 nights that I stayed - the used ice bucket was left on the table in the room everyday (ordered in the evening before); I suppose that belongs to another department so the housekeep won't take care - and more I were staying there because there was no better choice of hotel in that town. Upon our arrival, learnt another brand name hotel just opened a month or so before our arrival; would have try that one if we knew beforehand. Hope competition can promote improvement in the future.

We were at this hotel for two nights. I felt it was barely 4-star although it claimed to be 5 star. Weather was freezing cold then so we didn't have a chance to visit the spa pool. Breakfast was excellent and facilities in the hotel were not that grand. We had requested for a heater though which was quite old fashioned. Overall, the hotel needs refurbishment.

The hotel if very big. Good size rooms but a bit old, needs refurbishment. There is a huge pool and a spa. There are many other restaurants but we didn't eat in any except for the buffet breakfast which is not very good. I expected more from an international hotel chain. There is wifi in the room. Hairdryer, electric kettle, free coffee and teas are provided in the room.
