Just spent a wonderful New Year at the Hampshire. The food was superb and the atmosphere great but above all it is the wonderful staff that make the visit. They are professional, polite hard working and just the best thank you. Looking forward to my next visit in May 2018
Never stayed here before and last minute booking for friends funeral but have to write review as so pleasantly surprised at how very good this hotel is as cannot fault it in any way and will definitely stay here again if I visit Jersey
Found the hotel on Lastminute.com and booked along with the flight and car. Booked as it was just out of the town centre and had a free car park. Room was great breakfast was plenty full and the evening meals were fantastic. The guys in the restaurant were great so we ended up eating every night we were there. The reception staff were very helpful in giving us directions when we were going out.
No problems here, old basic but solid three star hotel. Professional staff and a lift is available to all floors. Breakfast is of a good standard and included in the room charge. Good for the budget conscious traveller.
Great location, only 10mins walk down to the center of st helier shops, restaurants and bus station.all the staff were so helpful and polite. Everyday a smile welcomes you from reception, at breakfast and the cleaners. The room we had, 12, had twin beds and a sofa with a coffee table. We stayed may 2016 and appears that it had been refurbished and at a high standard. The bathroom was large with a nice heated towel rail. Warm towels, nice touch. The bath was a deep one and was welcome after a long hard day. Very quick to fill. Bonus. Have stayed in so many hotels that have shallow baths that took for ages to fill. Good tv choices of Freeview channels. Beds so comfortable. Very clean throughout the hotel. Breakfast was great. Full english, help yourself so pile it up. Great fresh fruit salad and yoghurt. Pastry, large choice of teas, jucies and coffee which was filled up along with all the food was on a regular basis. We did not eat in the evening but the menu changed daily with a good bar menu choice. We will be back sooner rather than later. The hampshire makes a holiday to jersey so much better coz you know not to worry about your stay here. Just enjoy. As always with hotels the only negative are always fellow guests. You know can't shut a door with a handle, tv must be on full blast and coz an old hotel with squeeky floors have the people above you walking more than they do all day. Drives you potty. Still did not spoil our stay as we have ear plugs.
I've just returned from my stay at Hampshire Hotel and couldn't be happier. My friend and I came to Jersey for some hiking and were looking for something in a great but quiet location, good breakfast and clean rooms. The hotel delivered at all fronts and we could definitely stay there again. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room and bathroom very spacious. Only few minutes walk to all the restaurants and bars. Thank you!
I read with interest some negative comments on this site regarding this hotel. Not sure I could agree. Friendly welcome everywhere Excellent food, not over expensive Spotlessly clean throughout Enormous room with large comfy bed No real views as the hotel was a 10 minute walk / 15 minute stroll to the harbour, but, that reflects in the price compared to seafront hotels. Thank You everyone at the Hampshire Hotel, when we return you will be our first port of call. That is, you have any vacancies! You are always fully booked.
Location is good, 10 minutes walk to the central bus station or the shops. Quite a few little supermarkets nearby. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, but not very big. The bathroom was the smallest we have ever had. It was so tiny I could not dry myself in the bathroom after my shower, I had to go into the bedroom. But the shower was good, and the bathroom was new and clean. There were building works (demolition) right next to our room, but it did not really affect us, the only thing we had to have the blinds down during the day as the builders could have looked in otherwise.
We recently had 3 days at the Hampshire Hotel in St Helier. The hotel is a treasure. Although our rooms were small for a 3 day stay, the hotel was full so no other options were available -- a larger room would have been more desirable and would be requested next time. The facilities in the hotel are excellent. The rooms are well maintained and very clean. The staff are most accommodating and the food in the dining room and in the breakfast area excellent. We had 3 dinners there : two in the dining area and one in the more casual bar area. The location is also central -- walking distance to the Main Street, the bus terminal, and the harbour walk between St. Aubin & St Helier. We would certainly try to stay here again if we were to return.
We had some trepidation when walking into our room, as it was overlooking the building work mentioned in other reviews. However, noise wasn't a problem, as we were out and about before work started and back after it finished. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful (thanks for the safety pin!), breakfast was excellent as was the bar snack in the evening. The wifi was also very good. It's a reasonable walk into the centre of town, 10 minutes or so. Overall, a good experience, but the hotel could do with some refreshing - it does seem a bit dated in places - and a real ale in the bar would be welcome, given that there is a brewery on the island which produces some good beers.
