One of the biggest draws to this property is there are no children. It is couples only. Therefore, peace and calm surround you. Of course, you will have to put up with the screaming children on the plane ride to and from the island unless you fly private. Also, for boat charters, this is a convenient location. For both of these reasons, this resort beats Jumby Bay. Jumby Bay actually tries to attract families with childrens' programs and, boats won't go all the way to Jumby Bay for charters because its just too far. We never expect the worlds best service in the Caribbean. Let's face it, it's the Caribbean, not Europe. But, we were surprised at this resort at the real desire to please, which we seldom encounter in the Caribbean. Of course, there were minor incidents like bringing items at meals that were not ordered instead of ordered items, then getting 3 different stories about why. Room bars are restocked daily with everything you request: you fill out a request sheet every morning at breakfast asking for liquors, juices, etc to be put into your fridge that day. Facilities were beautiful. The beach and restaurant were never crowded, even at full resort capacity. There were always available beach beds and umbrellas: no mad rush at 7am to get a place on the beach like at many of the rat race resorts. If you want privacy get a hillside bungalow.

We loved our visit to Hermitage Bay. The hotel is perfect for couples looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway. The hotel's small size ensures that you can truly relax in a beautiful and lush setting. Unlike larger resorts, you don't have to fight for lounge chairs or prime reservations for dinner. Everything is very relaxd, and the staff is incredibly attentive making sure that you have the perfect, stress-free stay. The accomodations are comfortable and quite spacious. Having a beachfront villa enables you to be just a stones throw from the water. The hillside villas are slightly further from the water but have spectacular views with plunge pools that are perfect for the afternoon sun. They are all done in gorgeous dark wood with a very natural feel to them. The food at the hotel was quite good for the Carribbean and certainly plentiful. There were lots of interesting options at all meals. The only downside of the hotel is that the beach has a lot of shells on it. The water is gorgeous (calm and warm), but you don't have the soft sand that you find at some other resorts. Otherwise, it's a beautiful and quiet private beach that is perfect for relaxing, paddle boaridng, or swimming.

Everything was perfect. Amenities, food, villas...all amazing.

Beautiful location, excellent staff, good food and drinks, just a great way to relax and enjoy life. There really isn't much more to do here than relax, but maybe that's not a bad thing

When I go on vacation, I want to sit and relax in peace. Hermitage Bay gave me the opportunity to do this without any expectations.

The location of the resort is pretty remote, which is great if that is what you are looking for. From the resort, you cannot see any other buildings. There are only 25 suites so there won't be many other guests there either. The beach is pretty nice and the staff did a great job catering to what ever you needed while there. They were quick to come out with towels and cold bottled water and came by frequently in the afternoon with fruit and any kind of drink you may want. The rooms were nice as well. If you are very shy, you may not like the outdoor shower. Although there is a towel rack that hides you from other guests, they could hear you. Nevertheless, there are not many other guests there so it shouldn't be an issue for most. All meals are included. There is only one restaurant at the resort, but it is excellent. It is a sit-down type restaurant. They offer a variety of choices at each meal and the menu changes daily. We were there for 7 days and did not have the same meal twice. The types of food ranged from fresh pasta to fresh local fish to vegetarian dishes. It was quite impressive. During our stay there had been some rain, which led to many mosquitos. This is a problem on the whole island, not just here. Also, at night, there are lots of crickets, big crickets, that make quite a lot of noise. If you are a light sleeper, I suggest some earplugs. Again, this is typical of the whole island. This is a great place for a romantic getaway. Relaxing, remote, and comfortable. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you have everything you need.
