Indonesia Kempinski's staff is phenomenal. Always helpful and extremely courteous. Hotel location is excellent. Breakfast and Lunch buffets have a great spread. The rooms are a bit dated but they are very well kept. Bed is very comfortable.
The finest with high quality hotel you can see from how finest their interiors and services. Not only that but also their organic food. Best view to Selamat Datang Statue made our holiday unforgettable. Xoxo andysuryandi
a great hotel to stay while in jakarta, the hotel outside appearance is from the old hotel but once you enter the lobby everything was very modern, room size is big, wifi is good, signature restaurant breakfast buffet has good variety choice, hotel is next to grand indonesia mall and plaza indonesia, easy to get taxi
Hotel Indonesia was the first International hotel in Jakarta before refurbished to current Kempinski. The exterior was kept to original so it's kind of Jakarta icon together with the Tugu Selamat Datang (welcome monument) just outside the hotel. The room was quiet. Bed and pillows comfortable. Linen soft. 5 star room and amenities. Convinient location as it's situated in city center but the traffic could be madness. Walking distance to 2 major upscale malls. In 2019 walking distance to coming subway station.
Stayed here while on holiday. The hotel has a number of different types of rooms, and we had a Grande Deluxe room in the taller part of the two older wings of the hotel. The corridor to the room on the 10th floor indicated that the hotel is not brand new, but the room had been renovated recently (a couple of years ago?), and we were perfectly happy with it: it was large, nicely decorated (although not exactly my taste in all respects) with a large bed, desk, sofa et cetera, and had a huge bathroom with an extra-large tub, separate shower, and a fully automatic toilet. We had great views to the fountain in the Hotel Indonesia roundabout (named after the hotel), one of the iconic locations in Jakarta. The location of the hotel is perfect: from the lobby there is a short corridor that ends in one of the lobbies of the huge Grand Indonesia shopping mall. One of the best places to shop anything in Jakarta, and it has dozens of restaurants, many of them very good. The hotel has a swimming pool and a bar on the roof terrace: the pool is not huge, but is reasonable if you want to have a small swim or let the kids play in the water (the lower end is OK for 2 to 7-year olds who cannot swim yet.) The breakfast buffet is excellent, with a huge choice of dishes, including Indonesian, European, Chinese, Indian. Possibly will be staying here again. Jakarta is full of excellent 5-star (and 4-star) hotels, some with very good value at a price level 2/3rds of Kempinski (or even a bit less than that), so decision to stay depends on your budget.
I have been coming to Jakarta for years and each time, I've stayed at various new international hotels around the same area. This is the first time I've decided to try Hotel Indonesia Kempinski because it was one of the oldest hotel in Jakarta. I was feeling kind of nostalgic so I decided and a 2 nights stay. Well, the rooms are good size and functional as a business hotel, but there's really nothing to shout about against its newer competitions. It's is the lobby cafe that I really want to write about and I must say the food here is far superior than it's competitions. It has more varieties, wonderful combination of both local and international fares. In one of the evening, I had the privilege of meeting Chef Prasetyo and he is such a delightful man, showing me various local combination, the intrigue sauces from Indonesia's vast archipelagos. Most importantly, this chef is a man who cooks with passion. You can tell by speaking to a professional who doesn't skim on ingredients and getting the authentic recipe to its guest. So to all travelers to Jakarta, you can skip the staying in the room. Plus if you are a true foodie, do come and try the food at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski. It has far more varieties than any of its 5 star hotels competitors and they are great, value for money.
I stayed for 20 days in Jakarta and I chose the Kempinski hotel based on recommendations from other travelers and I can say that I made the best choice. Firstly the location of the hotel is excellent, as nearby there are many restaurants, roofbars and the best shopping malls of the city connected directly to the hotel, which is very convenient. Second, the room was really nice, with views to the city, very big and a huge king size bed and very nice bathtub and amenities to enjoy a relaxing bath after a long day. The installations are excellent, highlighting the Spa and the open pool which is located on the roof of the building, with amazing views of the city. Also there is a roofbar next to the pool where to enjoy a nice evening cocktail. The hotel staff is really friendly, everybody speaks english and I went with my baby which has treated as the Queen of the hotel every day. Certainly is the best choice of hotel when going to Jakarta.
Stayed in this hotel for the 2nd time for 2 nights with 1 toddler and 1 infant, and book 2 rooms with connecting door. I booked the room through hotel room reservation. Check in was fast and room were ready when we arrived. The staff are friendly and very helpful. My husband and I are very disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. The bathroom in Grand Deluxe room is very dusty (especially on the corners), and floor is sticky as well. On our first night, my husband saw small cockroach crawling on the bed next to our son. Also, there was mosquito. There was blood stain under our son's pillow in the morning (probably from the insect/mosquito). Cleanliness is one thing that I may still able to compromise, but not insect crawling on the bed. I called the Manager on Duty in the morning, and he advised for housekeeping to come to clean up. He did not offer a room change, not until I mentioned to him that I am not comfortable staying in the room for another night. I encountered another small cockroach in the restaurant while having breakfast. It was crawling on the food counter, and I have to called the chef to immediately take care the issue. Will we come back in the future? I will think again and again. Definitely it is not an enjoyable stay this time. For parents who is travelling with toddler/infant, please mention a thorough cleaning before you check-in.
Stayed here just one night on a short business trip. Airport pick up service was very efficient and smooth. Walked into an amazing lobby and got upgraded. Room was great - spacious, beautiful, comfortable. Well equipped. Peeked at their in-room dining menu and saw a very good selection and not too expensive. Can't say much else from such a short trip but did find myself wishing it was a longer stay.
Stayed for a very short 2 night stay, this was the second time for me however the last stay was 4 years ago. The breakfast buffet seemed much improved, however service was hit & miss! My travelling partner loved the eggs Benedict! Buffet selection was plentiful and of a good quality and quickly replenished. Getting another coffee took a little more time and with a certain degree of (perceived) surliness..... However I WOULD return and look forward to doing so in the future
