On arrival at the Gorbandh Palace garlanded and given a delicious drink. Outside the hotel gardens are beautifully maintained and ideal place to sit in the evening. Very quiet even though it is used by many tour groups. It is located at some distance outside the city. The rooms are around an indoor courtyard and fairly small by Indian hotel standards with simple furnishings and not very well lit. In the room there is a fairly noisy fridge which can be turned off at night. The air-conditioning though is excellent. The buffet dinner I found was very good and the bar has reasonably priced beer with an excellent bar keeper. Breakfast was excellent too! A good hotel
Awesome service. All staff personals were very nice. Pool water was really clean, but cold. Food was awesome. Had a minor issue of mosquitoes in room and balcony area, but room service guys were prompt to address that. Overall enjoyed my stay so much that I didn't step out of hotel at all after checkin. Completely peaceful ambience. Highly recommended to everyone who want to relax for couple of days from their busy schedule.
We stayed in the Gorbandh Palace for one night. After visiting the camel safari for sunset we got our room. The room was standard, but the bathroom was not clean. Taking the price in cosidiration the level is OK (except for cleaning of the bathroom above)
After two days of a pleasant and relaxing stay in the desert, we checked into this three-star hotel in Jaisalmer city on Sam Road, and were amazed at the vast expanse of the premises. Belonging to the HRH group of hotels, it is actually a palace turned into a hotel. Since we were a family of five, we had booked two rooms. Hereon it was sheer misery for us during our stay. We had decided to celebrate my mother’s birthday and had informed the staff at the reception beforehand to have a cake ready at around dinner time. When we returned from sight-seeing we inquired at the reception for the cake and were assured that it would reach our room within ten to fifteen minutes. After a wait of almost forty minutes, we had to again remind about the cake and we were given a false assurance that the cake was ready and that only the icing was left to be done which would take another five minutes. Twenty minutes elapsed and there was still no sign of the cake. By now it was almost eleven o’clock at night and we decided to cancel the order, and inform the staff manning the reception, about it. Sensing our irritation, a bland-tasting cake with haphazardly done icing finally arrived a few minutes later. Further, since we were three people in one room, we had also asked for extra drinking water and an extra glass , upon which one rude room boy decided to give us a piece of his mind while handing over the glass and water(!!!), which is extremely shameful for a hotel of this rating. The next day we decided to inform the reception desk about this and as usual we were told that they would instruct the staff to behave properly with the guests, and ensure that no such instance occurred again. I must say that the hotel staff is completely lax and disoriented towards the wants and comforts of the guests and every minute requirement had to be conveyed over and over again till it was complied with. The only redeeming aspect of our stay was the delicious and hearty breakfast, and the golf cart ride that they offered for my aged mother for transportation till the room. Finally, regret to mention that we were absolutely dissatisfied during our stay despite paying a hefty room charge. Overall, a miserable stay and certainly not recommended. I am sure that after reading this review on Tripadvisor, there would be the usual online rejoinder from the management, but it would only hold water if the management pulls up its socks immediately and makes amends.
From the foyer decor and the greetings we received on arrival I was expecting a better quality room than this. Yes, the room was spacious and clean. However, the furniture was cheap looking and dated. It was quite at odds with the feel of the hotels common areas. Food was excellent, extensive garden areas to relax and pool area was well maintained.
It is just another heritage property so you feel safe..it's quiet..peaceful even if there are alot of guests(I don't know how)..we loved their welcome:)..the service is amazing ,they even have servers during buffet!!the food was sad..one could stick to basic options during a buffet..the drinks crazy expensive(atleast for me,220 rupees for a 7up can:/ ) but on the upside it is right there next to the city..you can enjoy beautiful mornings here..the pool is my favourite(bring your own costumes though)..they have cultural programs happening and I saw one 2 other resorts ,the entertainers here were so so much better!! The property is a bit old we had a leaky faucet in the washroom but again the excellent service makes up for everything.will I go here again for a peaceful weekend-definitely yes!!
Accommodation comprised a spacious, clean and comfortable suite. Staff at the hotel were very attentive. Both the food and service in the restaurant were excellent. The hotel had a good bar which was hosted by a very amicable barman.
Rooms below expectation - small, no iron or ironing board, vinyl floor boards, cheap furniture (not antique-looking to match palace), flimsy slide lock on top of external door (floor bolt didn't work at all), no lock whatsoever on external window. Internet (included in room charge) did not work for 2 days we stayed, bathroom needs urgent refurbishment - shower didn't work so had to have a bath. Reception kept our passports on arrival to copy but when I tried to collect them, was advised they would have to send them outside the hotel as there was no toner in copier. I suggested they take a photo of passports on phone and demanded they be returned - our tour guide arrived and insisted this happen immediately. Laundry returned and cash payment was required - this wasn't noted anywhere on the the laundry list.
Good hotel with friendly service, comfortable rooms. Good restaurant and breakfast was nice also. Only negative was being harassed for a not so cheap massage and spa treatment every-time I walked past the pool area. But all in all a good stay.
We stayed here for two nights on our group tour and were amazed by the grand foyer and fairy-tale entrance of the hotel. The cool air-conditioning was a welcome change after the long coach 8 hour ride. We were allocated a room a fair distance from reception. However, the outdoor heat pervaded the corridor and by the time we reached the room with luggage, we were perspiring again. Room was a bit disappointing – slightly run down and dated, and wifi was terribly weak or non-existent. We managed to borrow an adaptor plug from the Front Desk to re-charge our mobile devices. As this place is quite far from Jaisalmer town, you were literally stuck on site to explore the swimming pool, swings and gardens, where time permitted. Surprisingly buffet breakfast variety was quite limited for such a large hotel!
