Parador De Cazorla

Sierra de Cazorla is a beautiful part of the world for nature enthusiasts and the Parador de Cazorla is in the best location in the national park, providing one is seeking tranquility with spectacular views and good hiking right from the doorstep of the hotel. The food in the restaurant is also very good.

We stayed two nights at this parador. The drive alone to the hotel is worth it: it feels endless amidst the abundant natural landscapes. When we arrived we got upgraded to a nicer room. We were very happy with that news but maybe its good to know that not all rooms have mountain views. The hotel is built around a central patio which is used for guest parking and several rooms look out over this inner court. On the other hand the public spaces all make up for any lack of views that you may have from the rooms. The reading room has a nice open fire and it's big enough to allow every guest to find a pleasant comfortable spot to sit. The adjacent dining room likewise offers the same verdant views over the mountains and forests near the hotel. Outside the dining room is a large open air terrace. On warm summer evenings eating out on this terrace must be an absolute joy. Sadly enough despite the sunny weather, the evenings were still too cold during our stay. The hotel furthermore has an extensive garden and swimming pool that opens from June to September. The rooms themselves are sober and have no air conditioning. Instead they have a ceiling fan which does the job though. The windows come equipped with an insect screen which can be lifted if you don't like it. Wifi was weak in the guest rooms. The breakfast had the usual range. We found the dinner services decent. Guests who stay longer may find the menu card a bit limiting as the dinner options nearby are non-existing unless you don't mind a drive in the dark over winding mountain roads. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in the midst of nature.

The area is wonderful and this is the place to stay. Its 25km from the town. There is a large swimming pool, large community rooms, delightful balcony bar. Staff are very friendly and helpful. You can get a good map of walking options. Evening 3 course meal €29 - many options available, featuring the game of the mountains.Wild boar and deer can be found close by.

Visited with wife and 2 friends at the start of a tour of this part of Spain. Very special location in a beautiful part of the country. We really enjoyed our stay and could not fault the accommodation, food and staff. Drive up from Cazola through beautiful countryside well worth the effort.

...the quality and service of the evening meals. Main courses not hot and not served with any vegetables. Service sometimes slow. Apart from that, a great location, friendly staff, clean room and enjoyable breakfasts.

Wonderful welcome, all staff excellent nothing too much trouble, for serious walkers although easier walks can be found lower down,do not mis a visit to the main town of Cazorla unbelievable the food at the Hotel excellent .Rooms probably need an up grade and we found the temperature too hot

Address the bathroom smell. Overall an enjoyable experience , memorable breakfasts with a stunning view . It woukd help to advise potential guests who are arriving after dark , that it is a very interesting 25km drive along steep windy roads from Cazorla itself

Opted for the suite, which was cavernous! Yes, it is an old parador, and some of the facilities could be upgraded, but if this were to happen, please don't destroy the character, as this is somewhere really special. Like an old hunting lodge with lots of walks....but don't visit when awaiting a hip op! The parador really is in the mIddle of nowhere, so either eat before you get there, or go for half board. You'd expect silence, but actually we had wind whistling through the trees as well as other animal noises from the forest. Take care when driving there, as we had to avoid wild mountain goats on a couple of occasions. The drive there is spectacular. We also loved nearby Cazorla, and make sure you buy the famed local olive oil. Restaurant food very good, with some local produce such as venison and wild boar. Staff helpful and welcoming. Ambience in restaurant welcoming, and we were lucky to be able to engage with other guests dining there, which made the experience even better. Very different from the other paradors in Andalucía, well worth the visit. Wifi hopeless, but hardly surprising given the location!

We always find this Parador magical. You travel for what seems miles in the middle of nowhere, and the Parador appears in the distance in the middle of the forest. Because it is so remote, it is best to arrange to eat there (the town is a long way back and you would be returning in the dark - remembering that the Spanish don't start eating till 8 or later.) The food is rather expensive for Spain but the range of dishes here is good. A cheaper option is the bar food which is available all day. The rooms we have stayed in are very dated, I'm sure they must soon be ready for an upgrade. But as always with the Paradors, they are clean. The staff have always been friendly and always willing to share advice. Especially on the olive growing around the area. We stayed here to have a rest and indeed the terrace overlooking the mountains is very peaceful. We also did some good walking, quite steep but manageable for oldies like ourselves. And a car tour around the area is well worth it and the Parador has leaflets on this. Parking is difficult if the hotel is full but there is room in the drive. I would recommend the experience of this Parador.

You will be enchanted by the drive up to this parador - winding forest roads (watch out for logging trucks) and the odd deer will leap out to add to the fantastic views. The parador itself is welcoming interesting and has amazing views. Leaving East along the national park road will add to your memorable stay.
