Parador De Cazorla

Some 20mins drive or so from Cazorla, this hunting lodge style parador is quite charming. Maybe a bit old fashioned in style and a bit frayed at the edges but that adds to its appeal. It has a outdoor swimming pool, child's play area and a helipad! We had dinner and breakfast staying only one night. Maybe the staff need to be a bit more diligent in replacing worn table and bed linen. That said I'd be happy to return - it just was a very long drive along narrow windy roads to get there. Very peaceful once there, though very isolated, with wonderful mountain views - when the weather allows.

The hotel is very well situated, if You want a calm and quite holiday in nice surroundings. The rooms are clean and just right equipped, without any superfluous luxury. The staff is efficient and helpful!

Perfect for a few days on mountain top with great walks from the front door. Easy to spot animals whilst walking. Best to have half board as quite a drive to other places to eat. Wonderful views. Our favourite Parador, a bit rustic but that suits the location.

The location of this Parador is remarkable. Just stand on the terrace at night to hear the deer, owls and other wildlife. The food and service is excellent although the rooms could do with a little updating.

Lovely place to stay as part of a self drive tour. I would recommend the Spirit of Andalusia II tour to anyone as a way of getting to know Andalusia more. This Parador is not in Cazorla - it is an hour away by steep single track road which means it is secluded and very peaceful. It is a little old fashioned - very clean and well maintained but it reminded me of 'Kellerman's' from Dirty Dancing.

Set in beautiful surroundings with deer visiting daily. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the food and views from the restaurant are lovely. We booked 4 nights with our dog who is only 4 kilos! We were given a dark and barely adequate room but this did have excellent access to the outside. The rules of the parador were that we could only take our dog to an area of the grounds to the left part of the garden and nowhere else on the vast property. This part of the garden is mostly steep with no seating or tables. We could leave our dog in the room alone for our meals but as the next door dog barked when left we had room service. The food was cold by the time it arrived so the rest of the time we ate separately in the restaurant where the food was great. As I say the staff were wonderful and did their best to make our stay enjoyable but given we were charged an extra 15 euros a night for the dog I couldn't believe the restrictions! Why guests are charged more for far less comfort and access to facilities i have no idea especially as the vastness of this property could easily accommodate an area where pets and owners could enjoy the grounds and an outside terrace without bothering other guests.

The Parador de Cazorla certainly doesn't rely on passing trade. It's several kilometres along a (well-surfaced) track from a small rural road, which in turn is several more kilometres from Cazorla. Set against its spectacular backdrop of mountains and trees, the building appears solid, impressive, even rather grand. The public rooms are a good combination of comfort and size and a large outside terrace enjoys the very best mountain views. Our bedroom was less impressive. While scrupulously clean and boasting good quality bed linen and towels, the furniture was dark and rather dated and did nothing to lift the atmosphere of a small, stuffy room overlooking a car-park! Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful but did seem under pressure when dinner service was in full swing. As previous reviewers have suggested, dinner was an enjoyable meal but nothing about it was outstanding or worthy of particular note, breakfast was good! All in all I was glad to have visited and enjoyed the experience but doubt it's somewhere I will re-visit.

Bad idea for me. I have been staying at Paradores all around Spain, and this for me ( my mistake) was a night stop. And it happens to be 30+ kms from the town!!! Expensive, very expensive for what you get. Rooms on the annex are horrible. Small, a ceiling fan, and old bathroom. And I payed more than at other luxury Paradores. Staff are pleasant enough. I bit understaffed the bar and restaurant area. I won´t be back, but I don´t like hiking

A very nice located and maintained historic hotel In a marvelous landscape setting We were like Romeo and Juliette in this hotel, so romantic The staff is very friendly and helpful We want to go back and take more time to enjoy the environment

An excellent value for money Parador in a little visited part of Southern Spain. Good setting amid trees with nice views. All very relaxing but also a good centre to explore the local area on foot or by car Old fashioned but the rooms were very comfortable and well appointed. Service was friendly and very helpful offering tips about local walks and attractions. Because it is in a remote location, it means one usually has to eat dinner there. The food was reasonable but not exceptional; the breakfast was very good. Nice swimming pool which we braved a couple of time, good spot for lazing about and the views from it were good.
