Looking for a place on the beach we wanted a hotel that would make us feel safe, that we could let our teen girls have their own room at without worrying about safety and Terraza Del Pacifico Delivered, her are the Top 10 Reasons we love this palce: 1-Magnificent view of the Ocean from the diner, and upstairs rooms facing the ocean 2-Ocean Waves crashing make for great sleeping backgound noise 3-Restaurant Food Options are very good with no need to leave to eat elsewhere 4-Poolbar in the middle of the pool, enough said... 5-Plenty of palm trees to hang a hammock off and lose yourself in a book 6- Quick access into town with by car or cab taxi service 7- Lots of dining options, but if you can, go to El Avion restaurant, Look at up on tripadvisor 8- Teen Girls loved that they had security guards at the gate and controlled access in and out of the hotel grounds 9- Saw Scarlett Makaws, Green Parrots and Tucans on the property 10- Comfortable Beds and Great Hot Showers
This hotel is just in front of the beach, with a gorgeous view, but the room was not good at all. The beds, and everything at the room and bathroom were very old. A renovation is a must! The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is good.
The hotel does need upgrading, but our room was very basic and clean. We stayed for three nights and it was very quiet and, except for a school party, there was hardly anyone here because it was off season. The staff are very pleasant and Fernando on the front desk was very helpful. The restaurant is right on the wonderful beach and we enjoyed just having a drink and enjoying the views. We definitely would come back.
Average in all ways. Average food, average rooms, average pool, just average. The service is good, but it's totally not worth it compared with the hotel. First of all, the beds are stiff, the linens had a little stain of dry blood, there is tv on the room but the cable doesn't work which make no sense of having it them, and he pillows are terrible. I would recommend this hotel maybe for the price, versus location, or families or solo adventures that would spend the whole day out of the hotel and just go there to sleep.......on the stiff beds......
Awesome location and a good breakfast but infrastructure needs upgraded badly. Built right up against the beautiful pacific ocean the views are incredible! Good place to walk the beach and surf but dangerous for swimming and playing. The room we stayed in was extremely noisy from traffic on highway above. Beds are tico style beds. You definitely will not want to spend a week end in bed at this place!
Although the location is beautiful and the views from the restaurant are stunning, the rooms are a disaster. We found animal dropping on bedspread and more found when we woke up on the bead spread. The safety deposit box does not work, the sink was broken, the WIFI did not work unless you were in the lobby. The hot water knob was all rusted and stopped working. The room phones would ring several times at night which the staff claimed to be caused by static discharge that they cannot help. One day while taking a shower the water was shutoff to repair water pipes for another room (guess they do not have a shutoff valve for each room). The staff was extremely nice and attempted to resolve issues but there were too many issues to handle. They did throw a wonderful New Years Party with spectacular fire works. We missed out on some of our planned excursions to stay in the room while they prepared other rooms for us to move to. I do not think they have good rooms. There were 11 in our party and had 5 rooms. They all had issues especially with the phones ringing at night
Our tour group stayed at this hotel two years ago, and was again booked here for this tour. Students and teachers all loved the location right on the ocean and it was especially lovely to sit and eat our meals in the open air covered area with the views and sounds of crashing waves! The beach is not swimmable due to the undertows, though Jaco beach is a short drive away and swimming is good (there is also surfing lessons on Jaco beach). Our rooms were decent. Beds are hard. There was never any hot water for showers. They indicated that the hot water tank had been broken the day before and, although it appeared that they put in a new one, it didn't work any time night or day. There is little insulation in the walls, so we could hear people in the rooms next door - which was challenging when some were louder and others wanted to sleep. It was nice having two great pool areas to swim in and the beach to walk on. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. This is the same hotel we stayed at two years ago for another tour. I noted on my last evaluation that Wifi was not free and not working well when it was purchased. I was pleased to see they have fixed their Wifi issue and that it is now freely available throughout most of the facilities.
The North American owner should sell this hotel to someone willing to put renovation money into it to make it the outstanding hotel it could be. The buildings themselves are rapidly falling apart, i.e. the roofing soffits rotting away, the interiors need a coat of paint and redecorating and the bathrooms a definite upgrade required. This hotel reminds me of an Econo Lodge as far as it's facilities and their disrepair. At least the A/C in our room worked. Having been on a tour we didn't have a choice of lodging but if on my own, I would go somewhere else.
Terraza used to be considered a nice hotel... maybe about 10 years ago? What was once the original and possibly best place to stay in Hermosa is now a pretty washed up has been. It's unfortunate but true. +1 for the location of course, +1 for having nice staff, but that's about it. It's worth it to pay more for something better along the beach or rent a vacation rental. The major cons: -Not well maintained -Uncomfortable beds and pillows (prepare for poor sleep) -Loud a/c -Extremely basic room amenities -Old construction -Very average food Overall, not impressed. We moved to The Backyard for the next 2 nights and were beyond satisfied comparatively.
Can't beat the location and landscaping. Beautiful property and beach and surfing Rosie for ... but I don't surf. So, I cared more about room security and personal security. Hotel was lacking in both regarding our room and our friends room. Our room (126) had defective shower head that we asked to have repaired/replaced. That was not done. We had an exterior door to pool area that did not lock (push button lock did not work, chain lock only). Our friend in the next room was bitten several times while sleeping by a millipede (found next morning). Loved the scarlet McCaws in the trees and the sunsets at night. Food was mediocre but not overpriced.
