When we arrived, there was no porter to pick up our bags. We ended up having to bring them down ourselves and wait around for 5+ minutes before a porter arrived. Because of changes in the schedule we were only able to stay one night, despite paying for 3 nights. We asked for an upgrade given that we paid 3 nights. It was low season. Front desk dragged their feet and were very unhelpful. Compared to all the other 5 star hotels we are staying at in Turkey the rooms are small. The shower is tiny. We made it clear to the concierge that the car hire company would pick up our car. When the car hire company arrived to pick up the car, the hotel wouldn't release it. We ended up having to make 3 calls back and forth to arrange something that we already thought was fixed with the concierge. This is the first hotel I have been to, where they charge to use the Nespresso machine. Each pod costs $4. What a joke! When we asked for our boarding pass to be printed and brought up to the room, something offered in literally every hotel I have every stayed in, we were told that it would take forever and that you should just come and collect at concierge. There is no trash can in the room. Pretty annoying. None of these things are deal breakers, however, they all add up to a pretty poor experience. Last time we will be staying at a Swissotel if we can help it.
We stayed at the hotel as a base to work in our Izmir offices, so we didn't have much time to make good use of the recreational facilities. However, the room was great, although a bit noisy (street side), the minibar was well stocked, the bathroom spacious and clean, and a desk to work on was a great help during our stay. The breakfast buffet was plenty-full and of a good quality, and also the bars have a good offering and all over the service was great. Shout out to the bartender in the skybar ;) Next time I'm in Izmir, the Swissotel will be my first choice again.
There are a lot of great things that I could say about this hotel but there are also a few things that detract from the overall experience. I’ll get the negatives out of the way first. This hotel is big. There’s no drop off area in front of the hotel so we had to enter through the back entry. It’s a bit of a walk to reception. Check in was friendly and efficient but then there was the walk to our room. We were in C block which is quite a trek. When we finally got to our room we were a little disappointed. It’s a nice room and well appointed but it’s pretty small. I would expect small rooms at the Novotel but not a Swissotel. It was ok for a couple staying overnight but more the size that would suit a single traveller. Very suitable as a business travellers hotel. The hotel facilities are great but again because of the size it’s a long walk to get anywhere if you’re staying in the standard rooms. Getting to the gym or pool took some time and I felt as if I had already had a workout by the time I arrived. Another negative was that the outside pool (which is pretty impressive) closed very early (March). The inside pool is however available later and again is impressive. The things I liked about the hotel was it’s location close to the sea and great restaurants. It’s well maintained and the gym is amazing. Far better than the one I belong to back home. The breakfasts were also fantastic and the staff very helpful and friendly. Overall a good stay but not memorable.
The hotel is very modern, ideally located, very nice ans spacious rooms, friendly staff and excellent Spa facility. The free Wifi works very quick. The restaurant Equinox at the top floor is also very very good at very reasonable prices. Taxi from airport to the hotel is about 20 Euros. Maybe one remark: the sound of the cars driving outside is quite loud, it sounds as if the window is not well isolated.
I stayed here for three nights while on a business trip. Tremendous service! The staff were courteous and professional. My room was very quiet and comfortable. I used the standard wifi provided and it was fast enough for all my internet requirements. Awesome gym and spa. I would definitely stay here again whether for business or pleasure.
I stayed in Swissotel Grand Efes Izmir for two nights. I am very pleased with my stay, fantastic and very professional staff, always ready to help with a big smile. Rooms are very comfortable, modern and clean. Hotel restaurants are very good but I was dismayed to learn that Equinox was closed on Sundays. One area to improve is coffee served in the hotel. Turkish coffee is good but coffee served at breakfast, espresso and others need to improve a lot. It was also a bit annoying to see that they charge for the Nespresso capsules in rooms. Nespresso is almost a standard complimentary coffee on most five star hotels. Capsules are not that pricey but the idea that you need to pay for them does not go well with the exemplary rooms and service this hotel provides.
Everything was perfect , The Breakfast can be improved a bit ( Eggs always to hard , You need a better Coffee Machine as well as fresh juices) Very friendly and helpful staff , comfortable rooms. A must in İzmir
Swissotel lives up to its promise to deliver exceptional service at this property. FO staff is very nice and very helpful, price discrepancy in booking and confirmation was solved quickly -with a smile and an apology -although it was not their fault. There are different types of rooms, I am not sure which one I got but I booked a standard room and got a very spacious, nicely decorated room with lots of space to move around and store luggage. Very comfortable bed, warm sheets and great pillows. Working desk was spacious and had good light. Great european TV choice. And bathroom is luxurious and spacious. All over, great room. Breakfast was excellent, a huuuuge choice to even try to sample everything the same day. Hotel is located in the middle of everything -great restaurants in the annex and all around. And the airport bus leaves right in front which is the best option to get to airport. Again, the staff made the difference: I forgot my credit card in one of the restaurants nearby. They traced it, handled it with the restaurant, kept it and shipped it to me without any complaint or charge. And all with a smile and friendly approach. Grandest hotel in the area, with great staff and great facilities.
Beautiful hotel with incredible art throughout, I particularly loved the wood painting that moved and the sculptures around the property Room was spacious and had every amenity I even used the sewing kit when the hemon my pants fell Breakfast had a wide array of choices, something for everyone The gym and spa facility may be the nicest of any hotel I've stayed at on a business trip Location is near the water, loads of restaurants, cafes and stores within easy walking distance Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient Great stay in Izmir, thank you
