We traveled to this hotel earlier this month for my wife's birthday. I booked the hotel on line and found the process very easy, the price competitive and the whole experience very simple. The hotel is a bit of a journey from the nearest airport, but we hired a car and had the freedom to travel to different parts of Croatia. The hotel car park was free of charge. On arrival we were checked in, and made very welcome. We were allocated a room with a sea view, it was clean, large enough to walk around without tripping over anything, and ideal for what we wanted. The only negatives - no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, and I did request a bottle of wine to be in the room upon arrival for my wife, but unfortunately this did not happen. The hotel facilities such as the gym are modest, but sufficient to enable you to do a work out if you want to. I used the gym twice and found it ideal. The swimming pool inside is warm enough, but not particularly large. It was OK for a leisurely swim, but it is not large. The outside pools are cold as they are not heated, but are well maintained. The food was plentiful, freshly cooked, catered for all tastes. I had rice pudding for breakfast which was a novelty as it is usually a desert in the UK. It was very nice. Admittedly it is a bit of a canteen feel as it is self service, but we had no complaints. Drinks in the restaurant were a bit on the expensive side, but the downstairs bar the drink prices were very reasonable. The spa area was clean, well maintained and a pleasant experience. The staff were lovely, nothing was to much trouble. Some struggled with English, but tried to communicate and were always very professional. We will be visiting this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone else who asks. Like I said earlier the only negative, no tea or coffee facilities in the room. The TV is limited for English channels, but lets face it, who goes on holiday to watch TV ? Thanks for a lovely holiday.

Spent there few days off season October 2017, business event. Hotel was very clean, friendly stuff, quiet with nice surrounding and excellent food. I loved spa complex. It's not very large but it has it's charm.

This hotel is as the name makes you expect: tidy rooms, good restaurant, wellness. However, the best is the nearby Tennis Academy. Reason for me giving just 4 points: I would rather have a walk-in shower than a tub.

We were there last week ( last week of September) and I have only compliments to this hotel. Although we have booked a classic room, we were upgraded to a better room ( free of charges) with a wonderful view. The staff is kind, polite abs helpful. I've a small accident in another city and my clothes were completely dirty with mud. The laundry service at the hotel was wonderful, my clothes were returned cleaned in the same day and free of charge. The restaurant a la carte is very good and breakfast gets it all. My husband has done the Tennis course and is very happy with the result. Coach very nice and extremely skilled teaching him some tricks which were not taught in previous courses. I can only recommend this place!

Firstly I must say the Melia Coral hotel is a beautiful hotel with a prime location near the beach (although not a beach as in the sandy type the name conjures). On arrival our room was available immediately which we were extremely grateful for as we had an early start from home. The room itself had a garden view but unfortunately there was a power socket for extractor in bathroom hanging off wall and toilet rolls not replenished. On reporting to reception these were dealt with promptly. The meals on offer both in the main restaurant and taverna were not to our taste and more suited to southern and eastern Europeans. I believe that a hotel that is rated 5 star should cater for ALL but this is my opinion and others may disagree. One area were the hotel is being let down is the lack of guest interaction from some of it's front of house staff. There was one particular female member of staff who in the 10 days of our stay did not once acknowledge our entering or leaving hotel. At one point she was leaning against a pillar texting on her mobile phone. I do not expect to be fawned over at any hotel I stay in but good manners should be the priority of anyone in a customer facing role. The majority of staff including waiting staff and cleaners were very pleasant with some even remembering our room number when ordering drinks at bar. I would never write a review imploring people not to visit a hotel BUT do not expect a similar 5 star standard as you would enjoy at establishments in western Europe. Please remember this review is MY opinion.

I I spent in Melia a week in August. Food was delicious, location is great because you are really close to the beach where you can always get free deckchair. Staff was really helpful and because there is no kinds policy, it is really quite. For two day it was raining so we used sauna as well. Nice and clean.

We spent some very days in this hotel. The pool and the sea side facilities are great. Bicycle rent very close by with great routes nearby. We loved the breakfast but we avoided the buffet style dinner and rather went outside to see local alternatives where there are some real great ones within a 2km radius from the hotel. Perfect place for some bicycling, and probably tennis with the facilities attached to the hotel.

My wife and I stayed for a week. We really liked the hotel, we had full board and enjoyed the meals. The best part was the large private beach with plenty of sun beds for all. The pool was nice as well but we were mostly at the beach. The general area consists of a picturesque coastline, about 5km from Umag but there is a mini (road) train which stops outside the hotel and goes to the city centre (around €2 each way). Umag itself is an interesting and vibrant town. You can also walk around 5km the other way along a trail to a light house. Good area for running, cycling and lots of tennis courts around! Great place and area!

The hotel itself is not a new construction, this you can se on the building and especially on our room, which is really ugly. But it was clean and equipped with all needed utilities. Staff was not too friendly, but this is normal in Croatia. The sea is perfect, comfy sunbeds without charge, the food is nothing special, but the fitness center is very well equipped and the tennis courts of Umag are just on the opposite side of the street. Our opinion is that the hotel is far overpriced for what it offers but it is a good escape from everyday life with our 3 boys:)

We had two nights here as part of our travels around istria attracted by the adults only policy. It was a busy hotel and very much part of a resort concept which locks you in as far as eating options but there is a shuttle train that takes you into Umag if you want to venture further. The room was clean and well appointed with friendly staff and good service, though the addition of tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have improved our stay. We were surprised that despite the great location that it was not taken advantage of to have a restaurant and bar from which patrons could enjoy the sunset. The beach club was too small for the number of people and seemed to operate at strange hours with a 7 pm closure sign. When we tried to have a coffee at the club in the morning it was still closed at 9.30am despite the 9 am open sign. As we had a car we were able to access the excellent restaurant down the road in Stella Maris which ticked all the boxes for us in terms of a romantic place to eat and to watch the sunset from. The Swimming sea side enclosure at the hotel was large enough but no food or drinks service to it seemed available - this would also have improved our experience - this was the most attractive part of our stay but seems to have been very underutulised ! Overall the experience rated well but we did expect more for what we paid.
