Cozy Yellowstone Basecamp – Walk to River, Close to Adventure
Welcome to our comfortable, family-friendly cottage in beautiful Island Park — a relaxed mountain basecamp just 35 minutes from Yellowstone’s West Entrance and about a 5-minute walk to the river and boat launch.
This is a true cottage-style home — clean, cozy, and thoughtfully set up — not a luxury lodge. It works best for guests who value location, comfort, and outdoor adventure over large indoor gathering space.
Sleeping & Layout
The cottage comfortably sleeps families or small groups who don’t mind a cozy, cabin-style layout.
Sleeping options include:
• Two queen beds
• One twin log bed
• Twin log bunk beds
• A sofa sleeper (best suited for 1–2 guests)
The loft serves as the primary sleeping area and includes a queen and twin bed, a small dresser, and hanging space. There is also a convenient toilet and sink in the loft.
Like many cottage lofts, the ceiling slopes along the sides. There is standing room, but taller guests will need to be mindful of headroom near the edges.
Living & Dining Space
While the cottage offers multiple sleeping areas, the main living and dining areas are cottage-sized.
The indoor dining table comfortably seats 1–2 guests. For larger groups, we provide TV tray tables so you can enjoy meals from the sofa or spread out a bit. Many guests also enjoy dining outside at the picnic table or on the covered front porch when weather allows.
The living area features hardwood floors, a comfortable leather chair, and a sofa sleeper. It’s a relaxed place to unwind after a full day exploring.
Kitchen & Bathrooms
The kitchen is stocked with the essentials for preparing simple meals and includes:
• Electric stove and oven
• Microwave
• Refrigerator
• Countertop dishwasher
• 12-cup drip coffee maker
• Keurig
The main floor bathroom includes a tub/shower combo and washer and dryer. The additional toilet and sink in the loft help make mornings easier for groups.
Outdoor Space
The cottage sits on just under a quarter acre in a quiet neighborhood on the edge of the national forest.
Outside you’ll find:
• A small fenced backyard
• Picnic table
• Fire pit (seasonal use)
• Covered front patio
It’s a simple, relaxed outdoor setup — perfect for morning coffee or winding down in the evening.
Location Highlights
• 5-minute walk to the river and public boat launch (not riverfront, but very close)
• Close to hiking, fishing, river floating, and ATV trails
• Near the historic Johnny Sacks Cabin
• 35-minute drive to Yellowstone National Park (West Entrance)
• Short drive to West Yellowstone for shopping and dining
Moose are often seen in the area, which makes for a special experience. Please always keep a safe distance from wildlife.
Parking
There is parking space for two vehicles, including boats, trailers, or ATVs. Please note we are unable to provide outside hookups (water or power) for trailers.
Rental Agreement & Security Deposit
After booking, guests will be asked to review and electronically sign an Airbnb approved rental agreement. This helps clarify house rules, pet policies, and expectations so everyone is on the same page before arrival.
We also require a security deposit/hold that is processed through Airbnb’s approved system. This is similar to a hotel authorization hold — no funds are collected unless there is damage, excessive cleaning required, or missing items. The hold is released promptly after checkout once the home has been inspected.
We don’t anticipate issues and truly appreciate guests who treat our home with care.
Pet Policy
• Puppies are not allowed
• Dogs must never be left unattended (inside or outside)
• Guests must clean up after pets
National and state parks have strict pet regulations, so please plan accordingly.
