Noce little hotel at the Meylan district of Grenoble. Close to Carefour store and easy bus access to the city. Reasonably priced, clean hotel with a good buffet style breakfast. It also offers a huge parking space
It appears that the hotel has had some updating since we were last here. Room and bath were very nice and very clean. The staff is very friendly. I would rank it a 4 if it were in a more walkable location, closer to center of Grenoble. Any place where I get a robe and slippers is a thumbs up, though👍
After a dreadful experience at the Gloria in Grenoble- a real joy, from the moment the receptionist said welcome and I gave him my reservation number and he said " you are not just a number" - cliched as it is , was great to hear it. The room was perfect, lovely crisp linen, soft bed, and very spacious as I had two kids with me. We loved the excellent local jams and honeys at breakfast and all the staff was courteous and friendly. Very well located and near a big carrefour for easy access specially if traveling with kids. Loved it.
We stayed here on Bastille Day. We'd booked the hotel as a stop off on our drive down to Nice, to break up our journey. I deliberately chose the hotel as it had a restaurant, which meant we wouldn't have to worry about finding food if we were planning to get there late. Annoyingly, the restaurant was closed all day... but there was no evidence of this when I made the booking. Unfortunately the hotel is not well located if you want to visit the centre if Grenoble on foot. It took us about 35 minutes to walk into the city, where we were able to find a nice dinner and watch the amazing Bastille Day fireworks. I'd also booked the hotel for its swimming pool, however it's more of a plunge pool and isn't particularly well looked after. (It was absolutely covered in dead bugs.) For some reason the receptionist was also reluctant to give me extra towels for swimming... Not the service I'd expect from a Mercure. That said, the room was clean and modern and the bed was comfortable.
After spending 11 pleasant and trouble free nights at mercure alpotel in the centre of Grenoble we chose to spend the last 5 nights in this hotel. It was chosen for its quieter location and facilities advertised (outdoor pool, a/c rooms). Upon arrival initial impressions were very good, pleasant receptionist, very clean and modern hotel. We opted to upgrade to a privilege room to benefit from additional features such as Nespresso coffee machine, replenished mini bar and luxury bedding. This is were our expectations started to disappear. We were disappointed to find that on arrival the hotel pool was closed due to the management deeming the pool as too cold for use (i highly recommend this information is placed on the hotels website to avoid future disappointment). On our first evening we were shocked to be informed that if we wanted to sit on the outdoor decked area/garden we had to purchase a meal. Despite the restaurant having only two guests they wouldn't allow us to purchase a drink from the hotel bar to consume outside. We opted to go across the road and give our custom to another bar which allowed us to sit outside. Upon returning to the hotel we found the room temperature to be very warm with no airflow despite opening the window, the room a/c controls were not functioning. When I enquired at reception I was shocked to be told that the a/c was centrally controlled by the hotel and they didn't think it was warm enough to switch it on !!!!!. Correct me if I am wrong but surely it should be the paying guests decision to determine if its required. After a very poor nights sleep we left the hotel for some time, upon return the maid had cleaned the room to a high standard however I was horrified to find the nespresso coffee capsules had been replenished with used capsules (these capsules are single use only and I don't like to think of the hygiene implications. My colleague also found 3x used capsules in his room. Overall the hotel has potential to be a very good, however my first impressions are that it is being severely compromised by poor management rules/decisions - hotel facilities should not be advertised if not available. Due to this I would personally not choose to return or recommend to my work colleagues this hotel based on my findings during this stay
Since my last stay, many rooms(chambers) were redone, as the restaurant. A team agrèable. That of the happiness, for stays of fast works. The restaurant and the bar have today's specials or quality card
Lovely hotel, room etc was as expected. Breakfast was good, evening meal was good, but choice limited and chefs Specials was the same all week. But too far out of Grenoble for me personally. We walked into town the first night, but it's a good 2 miles 45 minute walk to get to the restaurants.
We stayed here whilst en route further south. The man at the reception was polite and extremely helpful. The room was a good size and had a decent view of the nearby mountains. The room was clean and had good facilities (but why do so many hotel minibars now only have a bottle of water?). The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. A small point, but the shower gel dispenser is fine if you shower, but a high reach if you prefer a bath. The restaurant was unfortunately closed on a Saturday (we knew this in advance), so we ordered food from outside to be delivered to the hotel and ate in the room. The breakfast was a good buffet in nice surroundings. We used the garage at the rear for our motorcycle, but there is plenty of parking. The hotel location is fine and we had no trouble finding it. A very pleasant stay.
We loved this hotel, admittedly outside of Grenoble but free parking made it work for us. Our room was very comfortable. Bed was huge. And as it was very hot the a/c was a great relief each afternoon before going out for dinner, having spent day touring around. The highlight was the help we received from Marie at the front desk for our restaurant choices on two nights. We used tripadvisor to seek out some recommendations and then she was able to confirm a booking for us and add info about route into city as well as good (free) parking. On the second night our choice of restaurant was closed due to it being Sunday. And she suggested another place. It was great. Highly recommended
Stayed here for just one night as part of a business trip. Situated just out of the town of Grenoble in a village called Meylan, and opposite a giant Carrefour supermarket. The lady who checked us in was very efficient and friendly - a good start to the trip. In-fact all the staff were very pleasant during the stay which was nice. The room was OK size wise, I was on the first floor, so alas my view wasn’t anything special (just trees, and a tantalising view of the top of one of the near by mountains through the leaves). I think higher floors would get a better view. I liked the large table you get in the room, as well as the mini-fridge for storing cold drinks. I was impressed with the range of teas and coffees in the room, and was all ready to award 4 stars in this review… until I tried to sleep. Even with the additional pillow in the wardrobe, it was like sleeping on three very flat pieces of cloth instead of pillows :( I had easily no more than a couple of hours sleep that night - which is a shame, as I liked the rest of the room. But sleep quality is king in the hotel room game. Another disappointment was I ordered an evening meal as part of the room rate, and only vegetarian meals were included on the main menu - if I wanted meat I had to pay a surcharge. It wasn’t a big surcharge, but annoying when I thought I’d pre-paid everything - but I guess this isn’t limited to this hotel, as I’ve seen it elsewhere - but I thought it worth mentioning. Slightly cancelled out by the pre-paid also including a large bottle of Evian with the meal.
