We stayed for one night on the return leg of a trip to the Italian lakes. The receptionist was very very good. She spoke excellent English, was very helpful and welcoming, unlike most we encountered in Italy. The hotel is very clean, well appointed and we were very pleased with the whole package. The restaurant was very good, staff, again, excellent both at dinner and breakfast. We would highly recommend the hotel. It is modern but I don't see that as a detraction. The rooms are very well appointed and the bed very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Grenoble.
Cozy hotel located opposite a school and nestled amongst residentials. Offers basic amenities. Less than 8 minutes to a supermarket and about 25 mins to Grenoble downtown where all the restaurants and shopping are located. Breakfast was typical french fair with no complains.
Unlike most hotels in France, my room at this hotel had good A/C. Thank you for that! I liked the outlets near the bed, and the refrigerator. The fitness room was OK. The dry sauna needs cleaning as it has body odor (separate saunas for men and women), and the hot tub is not hot - tepid water, and to test the jets, one must get in... not going to do that if the water is lukewarm... The free parking (gated) fills up very fast in the evenings on weekdays, so if you get back late by car, you will not find a free spot. Free wifi works well. My room was quiet. The bathroom had unusual dated purple paint contrasted with modern Grohe faucet/shower fixtures. This particular part of the city is not very attractive, but near transportation.
Overall, the room in this hotel was nice. However, if you are an American. do not eat in the restaurant. My husband and I wanted to sit at a table near the window. Since it was a table for four, we were told by the waiter that we could not because the hotel was full. We sat on one of the smaller tables and watched another two French men sit on one of the table reserved for four. It really upset me to see that they received excellent service while we waited forever to be served. Never mind the fact that there were very few people in the restaurant. I believe this was a clear case of discrimination. The internet service was also bad. This was the second Mercure where we had a bad experience and we are Ibis Silver members. We will not stay in another Mercure.
We recently traveled to Grenoble and stayed two nights at this Mercure. It's located in a quiet residential neighborhood and just outside what seemed to be the main city center. We booked multiple rooms for our family and all were ready for us when we arrived. The rooms were clean and well maintained. However, it was hot the week we visited and the air conditioning wasn't really working very well. When reported to the front desk agent she acknowledged it was a common complaint. I asked for a fan and was given only one. It helps to sleep with the windows open and the fan on. However the other rooms for our children were stifling hot. They have a courtyard area at this hotel and it could be a nice place to relax if maintained. But we found overgrown grass and bushes. The pool wasn't really a pool it was like a very large hot tub that wasn't quite warm. Breakfast was ok. Nothing special and a decent selection for us. Overall it was and OK stay but not great and we'd probably choose another hotel if visiting Grenoble again in the future.
Never been to Grenoble . Hotel was excellent and the staff was warm and welcoming. breakfast is must here for us for the USA . Helped me find my was around . Dear friend was in hospital and i wanted flowers. Help me find a place . It was my birthday and give me a drink coupon. Really surprised ! Happy travel will be back again, Thank you for your service and hospitality from the heart !
We stayed here enroute to Milan and wanted secure parking as a priority which they have in an underground Carpark which is payable at the hotel. Rooms are normal mercure priority and the shower (no bath)was great. Breakfast general french buffet but beware the egg boiler wasn't hot enough so you end up with raw eggs, We walked to the cable car which is about 20 minutes and worth the visit but on the way back on the corner by the hotel were shall we say some "ladies?" So not the warmest welcome back. The bar is overlooking a pool (plunge!?) which is a little strange but you can sit outside but it's not a great relaxing space.ok for overnight but I wouldn't stay longer
Checked in and was tokd that I'd been upgrade, nice I thought until I got to the room. When I walked in there was that suspicious smell of something trying to hide simething else. There was a portable air purifier on the desk and windows open. Then and I saw it, an ash tray, something you don't often see these days and realised that it might be a smoking room; I'd been upgraded to a smoking room - well thank you very much! So I called reception and asked if it was in deed a smoking room and got an immediate "yes it is and we are fully booked" - I didn't even say why I had asked, I could just have been checking before lighting up. But no, the receptionist was in a real hurry to tell me they were fully booked, presumably because they knew what they had done in trying to palm me off with a story about being upgraded. I wasn't having any of that so told her quite bluntly and in just as much rush that "I didn't want to stay in a smoking room and I don't care if they are fully booked, I didn't ask for a smoking room and don't want one". After being accused of being aggressive, no, I was invited to go down to reception to get another room. So much for them being fully booked. Hotel claims to have a fitness room, but it's very poorly equipped, small and stuffy. There are 2 elevators, one of which failed to align with the doors causing a trip hazard which did cause a guest coming out of the lift on my floor to stumble. Later it wasn't working altogether. The room is very basic, although clean, but the hotel had clued the air-conditioning dial in one position 20 degrees . All-in-all as a hotel claiming to be 4 stars on Google it is certainly not worth the money, and if you don't smoke watch out for the "we've upgraded you scam" to a room on the first floor as that apparently is the smoking floor.
We arrived at nighttime, apparently this hotel is located close to a bad area because there was graffiti virtually everywhere (not a place where you want to walk outside at nighttime for sure!). From all hotels we have stayed, this one was very awkward as the bedroom/carpet felt dirty. Breakfast was great and the coffee was excellent. The pool area and exteriors need a good pressure wash. No pretty views here. Staff was helpful. I was very glad it was just for one night.
I chose to stay here because, as tourists, last year we had a very good experience at another Mercure hotel (in the UK). But after two nights here, we felt the Mercure President in Grenoble is very much Business-focused, and doesn't really cater for tourists. The room was clean and comfortable, although the bathroom was very small. On our first night, we decided to have dinner in the hotel. It was obvious that the staff were concentrating on a large Business event. It took a long time for us even to be offered a drink or given a menu. The food wasn't bad, when it finally arrived. But service was slow and disorganised.
