Stayed here as part of a Riviera Travel group holiday and was sorely disappointed with this hotel, its facilities, its location, and its breakfast. Astonished that it is even classed as a 4*! Who wants spend their holiday in close proximity to a train station with railway lines directly under their room with the subsequent noise of trains from 5am til midnight. The beds were like bricks, the towels thin, and toiletries consisted of tiny bar of soap and shower gel in a dispenser on the wall. A kettle was provided and also a dirty cracked cup! Breakfast was very poor with limited choice and budget ingredients. Our group was served breakfast in a separate room and were not allowed in the regular breakfast area. So I presume this is down to some cheap arrangement with Riviera Travel, who should be ashamed of themselves for even putting this awful hotel on their itinerary. It was also a long walk, in a not very salubrious area, to find an evening meal. So, unless you are an avid train spotter or need to catch an early morning train from the station, avoid this hotel!
The hotel is good: I've been in a double room for disables with my sister for three nights. Clean room, soft beds, clean bathroom, the towels were changed everyday and everything was at its place. Best position in the center of the city. The staff is composed by all young people, everyone was kind. The only problem has been the breakfast, for we were a group and group breakfast, I don't know why, is different from the one for individual guests. Really little breakfast, good but poor. Why these differences? In the end anyway I'm enough happy about this hotel.
I was based here for 4 nights, where this hotel was booked for me in advance on a group holiday...it was totally fine for the purpose...but not amazing, for those of you who like some 'wow'!! Plus points - it's 5 mins walk from Tours station and 10 min walk from main shopping district. Rooms are very clean, with all basic amenities (inc a fresh bottle of water every day), and a fridge. Breakfast was ok - basic but fine and filling. Downsides - no restaurant for the evening (although plenty of places to walk to). Bar very small. Railway just under the hotel - bring earplugs and it's fine....if not, then it may be a bother - some in my party did ask to move to the other side of the building...although noise late PM and early AM seemed minimal to me.
1 Location good..800 m from the City Hall 2 Hotel and rooms Old and dirty...for sure not 4 stars hotel 3 Personnel Polite...but they don't know too many things😂 4. Food Don't try the breakfast...boring and expensive...18 euros 5 Cleanliness...horror...smell a pee inside the toilet...higienic paper it is like napkins for nose...stupid manager
Room is spacious if you give them your Accor membership. Internet is free but if you want to connect to your work server is challening. Bed is spacious and soft. Washroom comes with standing shower. It has wings for family which is 2 room connects to each other with a big door. Kids friendly.
We stayed here overnight. Nothing much to see around the hotel when we explored the nearby establishments. It's a mainly residential neighborhood. The facilities were good and the staff spoke good English. They were courteous and helpful when we needed something although they seem to have been understaffed. We arrived together with another group of tourists and the staff didn't seem to be that many to cater to everyone. Overall, it's a good place for a short stay.
Hotel isn't what i'd normally associate with the Mercure brand. good location if you are using the Train station, it's on the doorstep. The room i had wasn't very good, was very cramped - had to stretch between the tv and the room table to get to the desk/aircon/window - clean and comfortable but very cramped and very noisy with an adjoining room. There are much better hotels in Tours for a little bit more money that are so much better. Staff very very good and breakfast pretty good!
Well located hotel near the railway station in Tours. Our room was on the 6th floor and was large, clean and quiet, an important factor as the hotel is located between the railway line and a busy road. The real disappointment was the awful food at breakfast. This is sadly typical of group meals as the breakfast menu offered to other guests was considerably better.
Nice and central hotel with parking. We e mailed the hotel and they reserved a disabled parking spot for us prior to arrival. We were upgraded to a privilege room as a Accor Platinum member. The room was lovely, clean and large. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities were very welcome after our long drive. The hotel is situated on a "block" of hotels with some student accommodation in the middle. The hotel next to the Mercure was an Ibis Budget. The whole block backed onto the main railway line. Having said that, the room was quiet, and the blackout curtains were effective. We had a room looking onto the main street. After arrival we took a short walk to the main train station entrance, where my wife felt that she could not go any further due to uneven footpath surface. We returned back to the hotel. This took us about an hour or so. On arrival back, I went to collect our welcome drinks ( very good wine and a fruit juice ) and returned back to the room where my wife had gone to bed ( 10pm ). About 1 minute later the receptionist was knocking at the door, demanding entry to the room to inspect the smoking. As the hotel is a non smoking hotel, we respect this, and I do not smoke. If needed the car park area is acceptable. I had not smoked in the room. Having found no evidence of smoking, she left. My wife found the whole incident upsetting, and very stressful. In the morning I went to see the manager of the hotel, but was told that the manager was who I had assumed was the receptionist. The new receptionist/manager apologies, and offered my wife a free breakfast to make up for the unfortunate incident. This was nice, but only one breakfast ... not two ? - well she explained - I was not upset so needed to compensation. My wife was still in bed, so I took a breakfast tray to our room ( just some pastries and a bit of scrambled egg - as breakfast was closing and they had not re stocked ) On investigation outside the hotel, our first floor room, ( we had an open window for ventilation as the air conditioner made noise but not much else - this is normal in Accor properties ) was directly above and next to the reception of the budget Ibis next door. There were cigarette buts and ash all over the street at this location from the night before. This is where the smoke smell came from. The receptionist agreed, (said it had happened before )but no apology. Then tried to charge for 2 breakfasts ! we left.
