It was hot. The hotel did not advise us on checkin that the airconditioning was not working in the entire hotel. Next morning the duty manager said he would find a hotel with working a/c. We asked about a fan. His reply: did you not have a fan?
Very poor attendance. Not provided what was expected and requested prior in the reservation. Air conditioning not working in the room. Nothing was done to support in any of the problems faced in that moment.
We were very disappointed in this hotel. It was small, no bar or Restuarant. The carpets throughout were worn and dirty as was the wallpaper. The bedroom carpet was stained and the wallpaper was discoloured around the aircon unit - which incidentally was not available for use as they had removed the controller! The bathroom, although a good size, was very tired and worn. The bed was comfortable. Very disappointing for a hotel of the Mercure brand. This hotel has so much potential, it's an absolute crime that its been allowed to get into this state. We will not be staying here again.
I've given a mark of average because there were a couple of things that really didn't justify 250 Euros, other than capitalism, for one of the nights. The room I had was clean and spacious on the 2nd floor, but it's looking very dated. Not enough lighting meant for a very romantic but impractical setting. The ironing facilities are a cheap half size folding board that makes it difficult to fit anywhere to iron a shirt practically. Housekeeping had dislodged the flush on my toilet when i came back to the room in the evening (constant running water) and i reported this to reception before going out for dinner. It wasn't fixed when i got back so i thought it easier to lift the lid off and do it myself. Again, when you've paid 250 Euros for one night, you're paying for the scarcity of the rooms in the town, not the luxury! Breakfast was plentiful and standard French cuisine but easily forgettable. The hotel staff were polite and helpful, and you can't beat the location for access to the central bus station.
The hotel is very close to the Place de la Republique, a "central place", easy to reach the shopping/walking streets, the old town, or the metro. I got an "upgraded room" which was quite big, comfortable. The breakfast was quite "simplist" but ok, if there is "croissant" and muesli, then I'm (almost) happy... :-)
Stayed here for two nights recently. The Room was fairly small and the toilet did not flush - we had to get this repaired. I don't know why that wasn't picked up on a quality control check before the room was given out. The stairs is vey steep and tight and the carpets are a bit dated. And we only had two pillows! Otherwise all was fine.
I found this hotel through a valuable promotion of nearly 30% discount. I rushed on it. We were not disappointed. Well located, very clean, not noisy at all. All the hotel staff was very friendly and well prepared to do their best to make my holiday unforgettable. I warmly recommend this hotel.
A good hotel in a good location, a short walk from the shopping streets and the bars and restaurants in the old town. the air conditioning was not working but they had provided a fan and when asked gave us a reduction on the bill. On site parking is an extra charge
Stayed here X 3 nights for golf trip Rennes and environs. Hotel perfect for our needs well located. Secure parking. Good value. Rennes also worth visiting great city. Recommend. Pauline on Recepción was excellent and rooms clean and well maintained.
Spot on location just 2 minutes from the city centre. Parking underground suitable so long as your car (+roof rack) is under 1.80mtrs, just keep right for the entry and exit. Good sized room, air con broken down OR previous guest has pinched the control, but with a fan supplied it was OK. Reception very friendly. Breakfast - the price is fixed at €15 - good if you are a reasonable eater, BUT - close by is a large coffee/croissant €2 for small eaters, fruit juice, coffee, croissant, pain au chocolat, chausson au pomme for €6.50 for medium eaters. Perhaps the hotel should offer a small breakfast along side its trafionnel fare? Restaurants, shops, gardens, historical sites etc all within 10 minutes walk.
