This stylish hotel is in a great location for seeing the old city, shopping and eating out. From arrival to departure we found the staff to be welcoming, helpful, cheerful and professional. The room service waiter was attentive and delivered a delicious (and piping hot!) Boeuf a La Provencale to our room, along with an excellent bottle of red wine. The "Cuisine-Lounge" is an alternative way of eating - great fun! Breakfast is plentiful with a wide variety of hot and cold fayre (including English breakfast tea!) and waitresses working hard to keep things topped up. Paper cups can be circumvented by using the cups provided with the espresso machine or at breakfast! LIke others, our only criticism is that the room was too warm - although the weather was unseasonably hot when we stayed.
Staff were friendly and helpful and we had no complaints with regard to cleanliness or amenities. Breakfast buffet was varied and well stocked and included some local specialities. Bedroom a bit too warm for comfort and view from the window rather gloomy.
Do get rid of paper cups! Room heating default setting too high. With double windows getting fresh air is difficult so a room at a cooler setting would be better. The location and cleanliness and comfort was excellent.
A Nice hotel in the central part of the City. Rooms are modern, clean and comfy:-) Breakfast is ok, but nothing special and rather expensive :-( The Hotel location is great and central, but in a quite street.
We enjoyed the hotel and service very much. We don't like small paper cups for tea and coffee in the hotel room. Preferred tea bags were not replenished daily. Otherwise a good experience with very helpful staff.
Walking around the town I couldn't find any better located hotel. Really near everything, I went to the whole town walking. The architecture is amazing, the decoration goes with in a very modern way. The room was good size, and the toilets comfortable and clean. There was no soap in our shower. We did not ask because we had our own, but I think this would not be a problem with the gentil staff. We only spent one night, but we hang out for a long time in the hall after our check out (waiting for the train) and this was never a problem. I recommend.
Stayed one Sunday night. Underground car park good but dingy. Lift to reception. Very quiet at lunchtime. Receptionist recommended places for lunch. Superior room was ready but WC not spotless. Should have complained perhaps. Room ok for short stay / business visit. Wifi very good, location excellent for main square, shops and old town. Good breakfast. AC not easy to set to stable setting. Perhaps not the best value?
Staff were very friendly. Room was clean. Property within walking distance from State Police post so safety was not a concern. Would stay again. Bed was a little hard to sleep on, but not terrible. Very close to Lindsey Wilson College.
We spent 3 nights here. It's location is fare to walk around and reach central station, shopping areas and nice restaurants. Rooms are not too small but you cannot find toothpaste, robe towels and slippers. There is no actual lobby. Breakfast is acceptable but you cannot order eggs as you wish.
We spent three nights visiting the city for the first time, and the Mercure was centrally located and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and we enjoyed the breakfast, especially the breads and pastries. There was even a small fitness center. On the negative side, the half shower door didn't do much to prevent a rather large puddle from forming every time we showered. And while there is a lift, you must climb a small flight of stairs to enter and leave the hotel, so I would not recommend it to anyone who has mobility problems.
