Reception stuff very friendly and helpful The new renovated reception are is really great The new renovated rooms are amazing, big and the bed is very comfortable The bathroom is very clean and big enough. The breakfast is great: new coffee machine with cappuccino, latte macchiato and more. Fried eggs are available, healthy food corner and more. Dinner is really tasty. Internet is free and very fast. At the reception are free voucher for the (Kuntoklubi Pelixir Gym) available. Early breakfast is available. Great place, you are on the right way. Thank you once again for the great service.
Ok hotel centrally located in the town. Rather pricy for the small room. Comfort wise ok though some traffic noise from the road. Limited parking available but on street option free in the evening. Ok for a one night stop over. Nice restaurant for dinner and breakfast attached.
The reception staff were courteous, multi-lingual and friendly. The room was a good size and we had a twin with comfortable beds and good amenities. It is an old hotel and the decor was very dated. Free parking an a good choice buffet breakfast included.
The hotel is situated in the heart of the town of Iisalmi. Overall the stay was easy and convenient. Rooms were ok, but there was a smell of "old house" in them. Bathroom was small and need some renovation. Beds were comfortable. The breakfast was really poor in my opinion Both check-in and check-out was super quick. Staff were friendly and doing their best. Regards Svein-Magne Tunli from Bergen, Norway.
I visit this centrally-situated hotel annually during the folkmusic-happening called The Winter Days of Iisalmi. Every time the welcoming is warm and friendly. The rooms have been comfortable and quiet enough to secure a sound sleep for me. The hotel is situated in the heart of this nice town of Iisalmi. Several restaurants and pubs are surrounding this hotel which also has a good restaurat in itself.Very much recommended by me and my friends. nd r me
Stayed in the hotel 1 night when driving from Lapland to south of Finland. On the Sunday evening we got a very warm welcome at the reception. Overall the stay was easy and convenient. You can park your car, in the car park, behind the hotel. Also there are several restaurants downstairs, so you can choose where to dine - no need to walk far away, We had aperitifs in the Irish Bar, and then ate at Rosso. Food was very basic and tasteless; pizza was better than the chicken salad. Breakfast was included in room rate, fairly good variety of items, though again quite basic and tasteless. The only downside is that the walls of the rooms are made of paper, so you can hear everything, even when people are trying to sneak or walk quietly in the corridor. Luckily the Sunday-Monday night was fairly quiet, but if you want a good night sleep, bring ear plugs.
Our superior twin room was quiet and comfortable with a couch and two twins. Good blackout curtains. Good breakfast. The desk clerks were friendly and helpful. Not much was open on Sunday night so we tried the hotel's Rosso Restaurant. The pizza was excellent and service was good. Good place for a stopover between Lappeenranta and Rovaniemi.
When we arrived to our room, I was not sure if we had stepped into a Russian gym hall: vinyl flooring, gym gear, negligently finished, rough roof coating. Oh yes, there are also beds, as this is supposed to be a junior suite, afterall. And a tiny table. Well it was spotless clean as well as the bath room too. The same stupid interior architect has seemingly planned this hotel's renovation as in the bathroom there was a tub and shower squashed side by side with shower water wetting the whole floor. Worst was our night sleep. Although the receptionist described the room to be quiet, it was conversely very noisy. There is open air bar open up to 2 am. just below the room and because the room was very hot and its ventilation ridiculously minimal, you have to keep windows open and it means all the noise coming from the bar was very disturbing. Just wondering why Sokos Hotels prioritize selling beer and booze than hotels guests' good night sleep! The bar should not be open more than midnight! Wish we would have driven 100 km further to a definitely good hotel... This hotel building is old but it is not impossible to plan and install proper cooling air conditioning. Hotel chain management should visit Hotel Scandic Klara in Stockholm to study how a decent air cooling is fitted into much older building! Something good, however. The breakfast was excellent with everything you can expect. And no, we will not come back. Enough is enough.
My wife and I booked a room here for one night's getaway from family life. We simply wanted a bed to lay our weary heads down in after a night of meeting old friends, and for that the room was pretty close to ideal. The amenities offered were rather meager - no aircon, skimpily stocked minibar and a window opening to the busiest street of Iisalmi. The route we took from reception to the room took us through a noisy and funky smelling corridor. The room smelled really stuffy when we walked in, but opening the window took care of that quickly. I don't know how that would work during winter, though. The bathroom was clean, the linen and pillows were ok, but the overall look and feel of the room was very 80s. There were no free power outlets to charge our phones, so we had to choose between a lamp and a charged phone (we went for the latter) as unplugging the minibar, TV, or the oscillating fan didn't feel like good choices. As I said, it was perfectly adequate for a single night's stay, but wouldn't choose this one for a longer stay.
I stayed in this hotel on my first trip to Finland in April for a business trip. A short walk from the train station and ideally located with Restaurant's Rosso, Sandels and a Hes Burger all in the same building. For night life there is a Onelly's Irish Pub and a night club downstairs. This is a quite popular place among locals, and the street comes alive at night be sure to pick a room on an upper floor if staying over the weekend due to the noise from the club below! Also a short walk to the lake and the Olvi Brewery. A great stay overall and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
