Okay folks, are you sitting comfortably? My wife and daughter (15) arrived at The Bergantin on the 20th October for half term week. We were greeted with friendly, helpful staff, lovely room and excellent facilities throughout. We were really pleased with the choice of hotel. What happened on the afternoon of Tuesday (24th) was what can best be described as a 'freak accident', the likes the hotel had never seen before! The poolside Animations team were busy trying to get kids and adults to participate in the usual activities that took place around the hotel and pool area. That day was football day on the small pitch area to the hotel side. If you are reading this, you will know. After the kids had played, it was the adults turn for a kick about. I was in goal. A very competitive game ensued when the Animations member fired one at me from a few yards. As I went to save it with both hands! The force of the shot just about removed the small finger on my right hand! With everything exposed, bone, tendons etc, it wasn't a pretty sight, especially for our daughter (who plays football at a very high level for a Centre of Excellence) on the opposing side and only feet away. We were more concerned for her well-being after witnessing it. Must stress that the emergency services and hotel were fantastic throughout. Within 2 hours I was having surgery in Ibiza Town's excellent hospital, overnight stay and back at the Bergantin by noon the next day! This was, as mentioned before, a freak accident and I was just unlucky. The hotel Manager and his staff (rightly) looked after us all and tended to our ever need until we left. A special mention must go to Joan - the English lady who runs the Spa/Gym/sauna area - her care and attention was exceptional. A star. Also to the Radiographer from West Yorkshire who was poolside with her family, who kept me calm! sadly, never got her name. To Mario, from Rostock in Germany for cooling me down! Jenny and her boys from Cheshire for looking after our daughter while my wife and I went to hospital. Remember - Don't forget your EHIC when travelling, that's all we needed (plus passport)....would have been an expensive freak accident without it. Vince & Caroline Ryan, Darlington, Co. Durham

Stayed 8-12 October with a friend with mobility limitations - I had emailed the hotel months in advance of our arrival to request low level, easy access room if possible & whilst her room did have walk in shower it was at the furthest point from the lifts which wasn't ideal. Food - plenty of choice with a well set out restaurant. Highly recommend the abults only deck/ pool - very quiet & relaxing - just what our break was about.... Limited evening entertainment at this time of year & disappointing that it was squshed into the lounge area when there is a lovely large entertainment area around the main pool.

We've stayed at this hotel 2 times now. and we can't wait to go back. The staff remember us every year and we became friendly with them. The receptionist David in particular. They go out of their way to help you. When you go away one of the main worries is what the food is like, that isn't an issue at this hotel. I can't fault the service food or staff. Good location too in the bay.

Stayed at the azuline hotel bergantin for 7 nights from 21st October with my wife and two daughters. Food at the snack bar wasn’t bad, burgers, chicken nuggets, toasties, hotdogs and of course, chips. Food in the restaurant wasn’t the sort of food that I would of ordered if we went to a restaurant, but we all enjoyed it. We didn’t have to queue for long either, not sure what it’s like in summer though. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly. The only downside to the hotel was the rooms, we had four beds but nowhere to sit, could have done with some seating, maybe a sofa bed instead of the two kids beds. And if you wanted a kettle in your room, it was €12 to rent one or €20 if you wanted cups as well.

Good hotel, everything you would expect and more. Rooms adequate and yes doors do bang and walls are thin but did not cause us any problems. We up graded to premium and thoroughly enjoyed the roof terrace bar and the adult only pool was a god send. Stayed for 5 days during October half term and can honestly say it was the most chilled out and relaxing of stays. Staff were excellent.

We have just returned from holiday at this hotel. Believe me it was fabulous! My Wife and I travelled with our 9 year old Granddaughter. We are guardians and bringing her up as one of our own. She was allowed lots of freedom as the hotel sempt a very safe place. There were boundries and she knew to stay within them. She was even able to go into lunch with her newly met friends. The facilities are excellent. The staff very good and all friendly. They work so hard to ensure that your stay is as good as possible. Sicillia in the Kids Club in particular works tirelessly. She is extremely attentive and warm with the children. The guy behind the snacks bar in the day time also works flat out. Credit due! I would not hesitate to return to this hotel for a family holiday. Clean hotel, good food, good all inclusive bar drinks, great, great, great! Loved it. Thank you to all at the Hotel

Beautiful Hotel with a perfect location, friendly staff and the best entertainment team ever. Rooms are spacious and very clean, same as all resort. There’s a big pool and 2 separate adult and kids pool which are very good if you want to chill. A lot of activities to do with the animation team as for the kids as for the adults. Cecilia snd Ivan work very hard to keep everyone happy. The poolbar is just the best. Run by Miguel and Isa you have any kind of drinks that you like served quickly and as well snacks, burguers and that with it little kitchen. Deck bar is the one inside the hotel and couldn’t fault it at all. Excellent staff en service. Plenty of choice in the restaurant for eating, premium rooms, sunset terrace, great nice entertainment and the good atmosphere between everybody are some of the reasons I would definitely return to this place and suggest everybody to try. Special mention to J.Luis, Pablo, Isa, Miguel, Santi and Tyson. Thank you very much for everything and I hope you’ll be doing as good as always

Beautiful hotel in a great location right next to beach, bars and shops. Plenty of sunbeds and 2 good sized pools. Food and drink very good, staff excellent. We went in the last week of the season so staff were limited but coped well during busier periods. Beautiful island and a great time had by all.

Just been with my Granddaughter and have to say couldn’t fault it. Good for kids and adults. Would definitely return, we booked a premium room which are a great bonus! Found staff really friendly and helpful (thank you to David on reception for sorting a couple of problems quick and efficiently) Food was ok always something to eat. Snack bar offering enough choice and drinks in plastic cups but that’s the normal on all inclusive usually! Pool cool but expected at time of year but ok to swim in!

There are more bad points than good and due to this I would NOT recommend staying here. The hotel is in a good location and is close to the beach and really good restaurants and bars. Only a 40 min walk to cafe Mambo/sunset strip. Communal areas are all clean and tidy. Adult pool is a good size and nice sunbeds (apart from the broken one or two) Main pool is good that you can walk in gradually however not much room to swim/stay on same level. Leftover inflatables available unless you have your own but this is not a pool in which to relax. All day long there is dance music blaring through speakers. Most of the sunbeds are broken. Don't expect to relax at the adult pool either. The same c.d every single day plays repeatedly from around 10am to late at night. (The same music can also be heard of you have a first floor room which we had whilst you are in your room as it comes through the vents) THERE IS NO WHERE QUIET TO RELAX IN THIS HOTEL so don't expect to be able to read a good book without music being on. You'll also find that people play their own music round the adult pool and are not asked to turn it down/off which leads to a clash of music and just makes horrible noise. One other thing to note is paying to upgrade is NOT worth it. Yes you get the sunset terrace and the garden seating area however EVERYONE uses this even if they're not supposed to. The drinks are the usual all inclusive type with a small cocktail menu which isn't too bad. Alex and isobel were very friendly and Alex used his common sense and let you take more than 2 drinks at a time. (Avoiding queuing) There are no self service soft drinks machines at either of the bars which is ridiculous when the staff take forever to serve and end up with massive queues because their too busy talking/ finishing their conversations first. The rooms are basic. No fridge however a few toiletries provided. Maid service everyday however it's just a brisk tidy. They don't get rid of rubbish unless specifically in the bin. Bed sheets are never changed and we only had new towels everyday due to the bath/shower water going everywhere and having to use them to mop up. The bath clogs ups as soon as the shower runs so you also end up with a little bath too. The shower curtain is not water proof so water goes straight through into the tiled floor. No wonder all the tiles are cracked on the floor with how dangerous it is. Not the best bathroom. Beds were comfortable though and good size balcony however no sun on it whatsoever and if you face the pool, don't expect to get to bed until at least 1am due to noise from entertainment and people leaving. The pool bar does freshly cooked deep fat fried food such as burgers and chicken nuggets, chips etc however this is the only place in the hotel that you will find hot food. The food in the restaurant is absolutely disgusting! Not only is it only ever luke warm at best (and this is at opening time each day) it's like a really bad school canteen. There is only ever one choice of meat, one choice of fish and one vegetable at any one time. If you don't like anything you can always have some cold chips. This is then repeated on the other side. The salad station is the worst I've ever come across. It's definitely not fresh! Brown Lettuce and cucumber that's turning to mush should not be served. The carrot tasted of vinegar most days as if they were trying to disguise the taste of it going off. I understand making the most of leftovers however one night we had chicken and peppers as part of a fajita/Mexican night (which was diabolicol) and the next lunch time there was a pastry pie labelled shepherds pie... This consisted of the leftover chicken fajitas mix covered in pastry. Myself and my partner are not picky eaters and will try anything however the following dishes are just horrible and were just a mix of random leftovers from the day before: American monkfish strogonoff Seafood cream with Spinach with raisins Chicken in champagne sauce To name but a few. The deserts consist of artificial tasting mouses, jelly that is not set properly and dry biscuits. The fruit doesn't appear fresh either. The breakfasts consist of cardboard tasting sausages. Greasy eggs and dried up baked beans. I know you need to cater to everyone but unless you want to live off stale bread and butter all week/ go out to eat. Don't stay here! Not only is the food a massive let down but the restaurant staff are the most rude of the entire hotel. There is a young girl with dark long hair that will say hello but doesn't look like she wants to be there. She's the beat of a bad bunch. When we checked in we were never told of the ridiculous scanning in procedure. You are simply given your room key along with two other cards that say RENT A CAR on them. Not sure what they are for one would suspect it's just a little advert for something. That is until our 7th visit to the restaurant. We walk in past several members of staff along with about 12 other people and then 'Paco' comes marching over demanding to see our cards. We explain we were not aware what they were for as there are no signs up and no one explained. After advising we don't mind scanning in but it should be explained earlier and not after several days. We ask what is actually for as everyone has wristbands anyway so just query this scanning in nonsense. His reply is simply "it's the rules of the contract". Well I wasn't aware I had signed a contract but if you insist I will scan. However please make sure the hundreds of other people who don't scan are told as well. You can monitor correct numbers if you only pick on certain individuals and not everyone scans. Paco then had it in for us and made a beeline for us every time we went in. His manner is one of a bully and the morning we checked out several people were filling water bottles ready for the journey to the airport. (This is something the bar staff are more than happy to do for you) So long as the bottle doesn't touch the actual tap I don't see the problem in regards to hygiene. Paco wasnt interested until The moment I start to fill mine. He doesn't say anything instead he waves a sign right in my face. Paco needs to learn some customer service skills! This along with the disastrous food just made the restaurant experience the worst. I will not be going back! I'm just glad there are some amazing restaurants nearby including Casita next door to the hotel. Please also note if you travel with Thomson / first choice, there is no rep in this hotel or help with anything!
