We choose the Podstine for our vacation based on pictures and the description on the Podstine website, and other reviews. Firstly, the pictures are not accurate and only show a small well primped, glimpse of the hotel. While the entirety is out of date, mismatched, poorly kept and badly worn. The towels and robes were very old, stringy and worn. The lounge chairs were dirty. The room decor was 1970 with a bad coat of paint. The staff seemed bored and smoked a lot; the kitchen staff angry. Breakfast was basic. The redeeming qualities were the view from our balcony (only if you pay and for a superior exclusive room) and the lovely Adriatic cove in front. All in all this is NOT a four star hotel and is very overpriced. Sent from my iPhone

Fair enough breakfast - foul coffee, but you can pay extra for a decent cup. You need to walk up and over to reach Hvar town proper, i.e. not walk along the promenade into town (more on this below) but stagger down 100 or so steep stone steps. Stone steps again to reach beach. Until nightfall, when you'll want a taxi to avoid the social dregs late of Magaluf and beyond - at best drunk but strong whiff of canabis, crashing music, literally hundreds of stoned adolescents, dope offerers.... Hotel beach: dead sea floor, a few sea bream shoals. Hotel beach 30 metres from public pier across the water, locals with boom-boxes (so: not exclusive). Beach bar: straight off YouTube acid house misic all day (PLINK, PLINK, plonk, plonk, PLINK, PLINK...) and offer of "Happy Hour" but no indication of what this means. 50% off beer? That would still be 200% the price at the supermarket 5 minutes up the hill. VERY NICE indoor staff, the only thing going for this place.

I had a great stay with my family at this hotel, it’s far enough outside the centre of Hvar that isn’t noisy, but close enough so you are only 20 minutes walk from the centre. We were on the 3rd floor, which had amazing views over the sea and Bay Area. The facilities in the hotel were good, with the free breakfast a big bonus. The big downside of this hotel is how expensive food and drink is, I would recommend walking into the centre of town for this, or even the local supermarket. Overall a great stay.

Stayed here with friends and we had a wonderful time ! Staff friendly, food was good and great sunbeds with very easy access to the beautiful clear waters of the Adriatic sea ! The private area on the sea is amazing (no beach but a tiered section with sunbeds and ladder access into the sea. Bedrooms are basic but clean. Hot water system needs some work as we were lucky to get through one shower without it going cold. Beach towels provided but some are old and tatty and need replacing. We didn’t have to pay for extra towels as in other reviewers posts. Wait staff were lovely especially Maja and Svetlana who also looked after the beautiful mummy cats and kittens that live at the hotel - the cats add to the charm and are very friendly , so please be kind to them when you visit and help the wait staff buy cat food, it’s cheap and I don’t think the hotel management buy food for them. The smoothie bar is a nice touch and the cocktails and wine selection is good ! I would definitely return but would say this is 3/4 star hotel

I spend five nights in this hotel and room cleaning was terrible throughout my stay. The "cleaners" barely made the bed. They didn't clean the floor once (there were glass shards under the bedside table), they didn't replace or washed used glasses for 5 days, they didn't replace toiletries (so you could use just one little piece of soap during your 5-days stay). In addition, something I had never experienced before when staying in hotels by the beach, you would have to pay for fresh beach/pool towels. Food options are very limited. Food is not exactly good and is very overpriced for what they deliver. Other than that, the hotel is surely by the sea, but there's no way one could say it is on the beach. There is no beach. You can dip in straight from the deck into the sea. They count on their staff's smiling faces and on the nice view from the deck to bring people in. But that would be all. It is definitely NOT a 4-star hotel.

We stayed here for four nights and really enjoyed our stay. Nice rooms and the area and the breakfast was great. There is also a nice walk to the city center, and I also recommend watching the sunset by the water. I would like to come back again!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in 2015, on our first visit to Croatia and loved both the hotel and Hvar. On this visit we found Hvar much changed. Where before it was charming, quirky and interesting, it's now packed, with most of the visitors being "the beautiful people". The hotel itself is obviously still in a great location, but is much more expensive than when we last visited (not helped by the falling pound). However, we felt that it has lost some of its charm. The biggest bug-bear was that there is a limited number of sun beds (especially those in the shade) - a large number had been " reserved". After looking at the empty beds all morning, we decided to move the towels off and sit there anyway, instead of roasting in the midday sun or sitting upright on a little chair. On doing so an anxious waitress rushed over and said we can't sit there. I'm not sure if these special (invisible) guests were paying any more than us for this privilege but we couldn't help being wound up by it! Eventually we have retreated to the bar (where I am writing this review from) We had such good memories of our first visit, but we think we'll leave Hvar to the beautiful party people and enjoy the many stunning places that haven't been quite so affected by mass tourism.

Hotel Podstine is a hidden gem in Hvar, Croatia. Breathtaking view from the seaside terrace, where you can sunbathe, dine, or dive. Scenic walk to the city center and close by pick up for boat excursions. So relaxing!

Husband and I were here on vacation, and we visited lot of hotel before. It seems like this is new hotel and has nice design but except that it isn’t worth the price(400€ per night!). Breakfast (food) easily become boring; waitress doesn’t pick the rest of food and plates unless you are going away (so it is the party for the bees, so you can’t sit and enyoj the view). Gym didnt have aircondition (it was30degrees outside). In room, cleaning lady did her job but for this price I expect them to give me every day new shampoon or body lotion if I used them?? There is ni regenerator for hair or ear sticks. They even didnt change glasses what we use for drink?? And yes, shower cabin didnt drain normally. Ok, outside the room you have nice view but that is all. I would definitely not reccomand this hotel. You can find better ones.

The good - lovely outside terrace areas to drink and sunbathe. A good location if you want peace but you can still walk into Hvar town. Clean. Friendly reception staff. The bad - Hot water from your own bathroom boiler runs out after 5 minuets (yes I did time it) so be VERY quick. Thin hard towels. £280 per night!! The ugly - awful, cheap, dated decor in bedrooms and bathrooms. Yes those are stuck on tiles to create the stone wall effect! Hotel corridors made me think of "The Shining"
