We spend four nights at the hotel Fortuna. We had a nice and quiet room with sea view. About four km to Hvar town. The family running the hotel is friendly and helpful. The restaurant downstairs is also good. Highly recommended.
Just spent two nights in the hotel fortuna. The hotel is located on a inlet called milina about 5 minutes drive from Hvar town. It’s not walking distance. We hiked 1 hr on a nice path into town. But there is a hotel shuttle available for hotel guest 50kn each way. Not being in town is a good thing imo. You get some peace and quiet and are away from the hustle and bustle. While still able to get the town feel when you want it. The hotel is family run and it shows in the personal touch and service you get. That’s much appreciated and makes the stay more worth while. The room is decent size. We had a partial ocean view room. Junior suite. Bathroom clean and decent with small shower. But good water pressure Comfy bed. Small size duvet. Balcony with chair and table. Breakfast included. Fairly avg. Not great. Coffee was average. Hot dishes and continental breakfast options too. The beach is right next to the hotel and is great for swimming and relaxing on. Pebble beach. There are chairs and umbrellas for rent and a great little store beach side to buy goods and wine and beer. Dyana runs it and is so friendly and helpful too. We are an excellent restaurant down the street for lunch. They grill most dishes on a bbq. Fantastic setting along the sea. Also hiked up to abandoned town and there a small restaurant bar in this town still staffed and open. Overall I recommend this hotel. Couples who want to relax and appreciate a local island setting in calm bay.
The Hotel Fortuna is simply a superb place to stay. There are many great hotels throughout the world in terms of rooms, location, facilities etc. Yes the Hotel Fortuna ticks all these boxes but what sets in apart in my experience is the friendliness, customer focus and desire to help their guests from each and every member of staff. They take care of you and of course we will return at some stage. Thank you to the Tudor family for making our recent stay so memorable.
Maybe my favorite hotel experience I’ve had. The Tudor family successfully thought through our every need, which - combined with an idyllic location and great facilities -made for a truly memorable experience. Free transport from our ferry to the hotel (and back) was a relieving welcome after hitting the busy port of Hvar, and the continued ~$7 transport between Milna and Hvar (or the fort!) saved us a ton of time, effort, and money. And Marino Tudor, our main driver, turned out to be a fun conversator after a few badgering questions. The location itself surpassed expectations, with the best beach access in Milna, immediate access to the fruit/snack/convenience stand, and perfect centrality to all of Milna’s excellent eateries, including Fortuna restaurant. Though we enjoyed Hvar and nearby islands, we ended up spending over half our trip in Milna because it was just so relaxing and remote. Perfect for a day at he beach or long sunset over a glass of Posip. The room itself was a great retreat from the sun, and offered powerful AC, a particularly comfy bed, potent blackout curtains, delicious ginseng shampoo, and pretty much every standard amenity. Final shout-out to our favorite hostess, Josefine Tudor, who seemed to always be around with a smile and offer of aid. We loved the entire Tudor family and will CERTAINLY be back if we every return to Hvar.
We try to avoid high density tourist destinations. While searching for a hotel on Hvar Island I was happy to come across Hotel Fortuna ... what great luck! The hotel is a gem. It's a family run operation with 18 nicely appointed rooms. Josephine and Marino Tudor run the place and they treat you better than hotel guests .. they treat you like family. No request is too great and they are happy to answer as many questions as you want to ask! Breakfast is very good with a large buffet with plenty of options. Beach front tables make a wonderful place to enjoy your breakfast and plan the day. Housekeeping is outstanding with exceptionally clean rooms and spotless public spaces. There is a bar with all the usual offerings, and they have a great selection of very nice Croatian wines. The hotel is located in Milna, a small village about three miles from Hvar Town. There are two nice beaches ... one directly in front of the hotel and one about three hundred yards away with two restaurants overlooking it. The beach next to the hotel has a concession for beach chairs and there is a small store with snacks and beverages. If you want to go into Hvar Town there is a trail that you can walk to get there, you can take a water taxi., or it's a short drive. We went into town for a couple of hours, were elbow to elbow with the crowds and headed back to Milna quickly! Josephine recommended a great hike that goes uphill through a beautiful canyon to a small deserted village called Malo Grablji. From there, you can continue up to a small town called Velo Grablji. Although uphill, it's not difficult and when you get to the top there is a small restaurant where you can relax before heading back down. Another fun side trip is to Stari Grad, a very beautiful town with a plenty of restaurants, shops, nice marina and walking trail around the harbor. In fact, I went in one morning for a run since it is fairly flat and a pretty place to run. Trust me. If you like small out of the way places, you will love Hotel Fortuna.
Had lunch here yesterday: hubby had fried calamari which were deliciously crisp and crunchy, and I had fish filet (sole but it depends on what's available) with caper and lemon sauce. The fish was perfectly cooked and offset by the wonderfully tangy lemon sauce. We shared a side of French fries with tartar sauce. We had freshly squeezed orange juice each and a large bottle of fizzy water to wash it down. A fabulous lunch that we really enjoyed!
I debated for some time whether to book a hotel right in the harbor of Hvar or whether to book a hotel just a bit outside Hvar. Boy did I pick right! We stayed just 3 kilometers outside of the town of Hvar at Hotel Fortuna and could not have been happier. We got a room across the street from the beach, facing the Adriatic Sea, with our own private balcony to enjoy the unbeatable views. In addition, we had free parking, free breakfast, which was excellent, and a nearly private beach across the street. Here, you get the peace and tranquility so yearned for on vacation. We drove into Hvar for one afternoon, which was lovely. Our room was very comfortable and the staff was very welcoming and eager to assist with any questions. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel!!!! It is family owned and run - you can’t go wrong!
We stayed for a week at this excellent family run hotel the owners were very helpful, friendly and really enhanced our holiday. We were collected from the port on arrival and dropped off on departure free of charge. During our stay the hotel operated a shuttle service to places on the island at a very reasonable price whenever you chose to go.The hotel is next to the beach and a sea view room is highly recommended, the breakfast is very good and we ate in the hotel restaurant in the evenings with reasonable prices and excellent food. We did a lot of walking during our stay and the paths while sometimes rocky were clearly marked with bullseyes on stones and little directional arrows on the ground. We walked to 2 uninhabited villages in the hills which was great and we found 2 different walks into Hvar town the second being about 6 miles but we just phoned the hotel and they picked us up when we were ready.Hvar town is beautiful a trip up to the fortress is a must for the views however it seems to be becoming an'in place' for the rich and famous with prices in the town reflecting this. we had a great stay in a beautiful tranquil spot made all the better by the helpful staff and owners of the hotel and would love to return someday.
We stayed here for two nights ...it is just 4 km from hvar town..the rooms are very beautiful ,breakfast ,meals anything ordered here was delicious ...lava cake was delicious ..my daughters just loved it ...open to a small beach area that was an icing to the cake ...the Tudor family owners of the hotel just ensure that u are well looked after during the stay there ...strongly recommend this hotel ...
We really enjoyed staying at the Hotel Fortuna. The rooms are large and modern. The family is super friendly and very helpful with transportation. The breakfast was good. We were glad to not be staying right in Hvar as it can be noisy, but the drive there only took 5-10 minutes.
