This was our 5th or maybe 6th time at the Crystal Bay, so obviously we like it! We stayed at the Crystal Bay from the 12th June for 11 nights.First impression of Hurghada airport is not a good one (Thomas Cook take note) Thomas Cook Reps' are waiting for you to purchase Visas through them at an inflated price, ignore them and purchase your Visa from the bank on your right for 25 USD. Hotel overall is excellent, nice pool area with waiter service drinks and a very friendly barman Walid!. We rented a Cabana on the beach for a couple of days for £24 per day which was excellent value...We were very well looked after by our old friend Marhous,nothing is to much trouble for him, they were two very relaxing days. We ate mainly in the Rainbow restaurant and found the food to be very good, even for me a fussy eater! We were looked after at breakfast by Mustafa and Mohammed who served us with a smile and excellent service. We also ate at the Mediterranan Restaurant which was also very good, served by Taher who was a wonderful waiter, and thanks to Chef Waleed an excellent Chef, but really all staff in the Restaurants should be praised. We spent every evening on the terrace with our good friends Julian and Lisa, and we must say the singers were of a much better quality this year....Our waiters Mohammed and Ali both looked after us very well. The Animation Team were as good as always with a special thank you to Yana and Olga for being so pleasant and always smiling!! A special thank you to Catherine from Guest relations, nothing is to much trouble for this lovely girl who brightened up our day...well done Catherine!!!!! We only have a couple of minor complaints, we agree with a previous review regarding sun beds around the pool, we to noticed towels on beds not being used until late morning which is very selfish....please enforce the 10:00 am rule!! Yes rooms are becoming a little tired and dated, but a renovation programme is now underway so this should not be a problem in the near future. We only had one problem in our room....the air-conditioning was not blowing cold enough, but after a phone call to Guest Relations this was repaired in about 20 minutes......now that's what we call good service...Thank you! During our stay a few guests complained of stomach problems,just remember this is not always the hotels fault,we found the hotel to be spotlessly clean,but both my wife and myself noticed a small number of guests coming out of toilets without washing there hands....not good!!!! Also this a very hot country and could be a factor for these stomach problems. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at the Crystal Bay and we will be back soon! Not sure I would rate it 5* Grounds.... The gardeners work hard keeping the gardens maintained but I feel the hard landscaping (walkways etc) let the grounds down, work is needed to bring this up to standard. Rooms The rooms in general are fine with a good sized shower room, but the shower wasn't great, the grouting was badly marked, looked like it needed a really good clean/refurbishment. We had issues with the safe......it took 3 separate visits over 2 days, attended by 2 staff members each time to change the batteries until the problem was solved & each time I had to be in attendance - why changing 4 batteries was proving to be such a big job - I have no idea ? Restaurants There are many a la carte to chose from, some are from the sister hotel next door, with unlimited visits, booked up to a day in advance @ computer screen in reception. The Asian being the most popular, we also visited the Indian, Mediterranean, Egyptian & Italian, listed here in order of our preference. The main buffet restaurant also had a good choice @ breakfast & lunch (always used the a la carte in the evening). Animation team Whilst they do try & get guests to participate during the day, it is done respectfully, never too pushy. The shows are not really 'our thing', we did go to the amphitheatre on 1 occasion but was far too warm inside, shame the shows can't be performed outside on the terrace. Pools We always used the adults only area of the pool & this was monitored well, on a couple of occasions there was a small child appear on the poolside & the recreation guys were quick to attend. Rules state towels will be removed if left unattended before 10am...why make rules that aren't enforced?, I am an early riser & witnessed sunbeds 'reserved with towels' from 5.15am but not occupied until late morning. There is definitely not enough shade available, there need to be far more parasols around the outer areas around the pool. Only saw the jacuzzi pool operating once. We did have a good holiday & with some improvement this could be a great hotel. Guests are benefiting from low occupancy, it was around 50% when we were there, not sure I would enjoy when @ full capacity ?
Just want to say a big thank you to Hany and all the staff at the Sunrise Crystal Bay Resort for giving us such a wonderful and memorable holiday. The attention to detail is outstanding, all the staff went out of their way to give us such a great time. At breakfast Maamoon served up a really good start to the day with his happy smiling character. On the Royal beach Marruss with his lively service kept us happy and never without a beverage when we wanted one. Then for he last few days of our holiday to meet up with Waleed again was really good. Ali and the rest of the guys at the beach bar do a great job of keeping you refreshed. The only problem is which restaurant to choose, the Curry is fabulous, the Mediterranean serves up a unique style of cuisine, the Poseidon menu is just right when you want a meaty meal and of course the Feluca Fish restaurant is great if you enjoy seafood. What a wonderful problem to have. Our suite was kept clean and fresh, cannot wait to return back to our holiday home. Thank you to everybody at the Crystal Bay for making our holiday so special. Len
I spent 6 days here and it really was an amazing experience. Beaches here are clean & clear. The Water is great. All staff members are great. I would like to thank Mostafa in the main restaurant, Medhat in Mediterranean restaurant & Ahmed Ibrahem in masala restaurant as they are not only perform their job but they also go an extra mile, which has a positive impression in guests' perspective.You can be reserved special dinner every evening which includes several varieties of seats and tables & they are ready to celebrate with you your special occasions without any extra fees.
we visited the resort soon after reading the reviews on tripadvisor i think it's overrated especially the staff at the bars thanks to chef sanbo thanks to hussien house keeper ehab at lobby bar is rude barman i think that is my last visit at sunrise resorts after ten great visits for different sunrise resorts as it was below expectations and they neglected our notes
Great service, nice beach and pool, very friendly animation team with such amusing activities, outstanding food. Really enjoyed my stay. Such a relaxing place. Definitly coming back! Great rooms with such a very good room service. Clean beach with a great view and very relaxing spa and gym which is fully equipped.
Just got back yesterday The Bad The first room they gave us was falling to bits and the back door led onto a public walkway so we switched rooms. Second room broken kettle (changed) broken glass (changed) sink plug not working and sink not draining (fixed after 2 attempts) toilet started to run continuously and would not flush (fixed) shower rail wedged in with paper?and more cracks dings scrapes and fills then the house that Jack built. I got stomach sickness as did many others a week in and went to the hotel clinic (open 10am to 11am) after waiting until 10.35am doctor did not show so I called reception and they told me he would be there in 15 minutes so I went back and waited half an hour but still no show then told 12.30pm so I said I didn't believe them. They sent the doctor to my room and no charge for visit or medication. The Good The wifi works great. The Poseidon restaurant manager excellent. Beach waiter Peter excellent. Animation team excellent and staff overall very good. Food at buffet overall good. Some restaurants good some not very good. Local beer ok not great and cocktails ok. This hotel is very dated but has a great staff. They do fix things but I felt like something broke every other day because it is so dated. I suggest that the reviewers who think this is a five star step up and stay at a real five star hotel you are in for a big surprise. This hotel is a three star that an excellent staff make up to a reasonable four. It simply needs a complete refurb and because of this we will not return.
Just returned home from a fantastic holiday, Hotel and staff are superb! This is our second visit to this Hotel in 12 weeks so obviously that speaks for itself. The Manager and staff are exeptional, if you want anything in this Hotel just " ask" There is nothing too much trouble for them. The Animation Team are a credit to this Hotel, I don't want to single out one because they are all superb!! Guest Realtion first class,asked us everyday if we needed anything. Bar staff first class too! but a special thanks to Peter, he kept us topped up on drinks on the beach,don't know how he carried so many drinks so quickly. Food in this Hotel was excellent,so much to choose from and then on top of that al a carte restaurants !! what's not to like at this Hotel!!! Hoping to return in September.
overall it was very good hotel Beach: nice and sandy but little bit small food and Beverages: a very good variety and the a la carte restaurants a very good, chiefs are not that welcoming in the main restaurant Staff: very friendly with a smile on their faces and special thanks to Ahmed in the beach restaurant and peter on the beach for drinks Rooms: moderate but they are renovating them i wish it could be better Housekeeping: not good at all for 5 stars hotel ie: its very good hotel overall but doesn't deserve to be the 7th hotel in Hurghada
Hotel was amazing, food was excellent great choices. Animation are a credit to the hotel, good nights had by them, pool party was such amazing fun what a great night, Staff are very very helpful in both hotel and animation, Great hotel luv you xxx.
