Holiday Inn Express York3.0 out of 5.0

My wife I and visited York for short for the first time. We stayed in the Holiday Inn Express hotel for three nights. The hotel is 11 miles to York city centre so the best way into town is by car or some other means of transportation. Walking is out of the question. On arrival, Reception staff was very welcoming and check-in was quick. Staff at reception and breakfast staff were also very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and this remained so throughout our stay at the hotel. Toby Carvery is right next door to the hotel. Staff there were also very friendly and the cost of meals was reasonable. If you don't mind staying a little bit away from the city centre, then this hotel should be near the top of your choices for a short break to York.
We stayed at this hotel for couple of nights. Room was good size and very cleaned! Breakfast was fine. But York is incredibly beautiful place. And we loved the pub which is next to the Holiday inn. It was quite nice pub!! Really had a great time. We are definitely want to come !!
If the review was just for the Staff then this would have been "Excellent" All the staff that we met went out of the way to make our stay enjoyable. Great check-in and great friendly service at the breakfast in the morning. The only reason its a bit lower is the fold out children's bed in our room was not the best and it was just a shame that the hotel was not a little closer to the Park and Ride into York. However the overall room was very nice, clean and everything worked. I would have no hesitation at recommending this hotel.
It is always with slight trepidation that you book in somewhere you are not aware of and have no previous experience off. This was a last minute booking and we took advantage of a reduced rate offer including breakfast. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and directions were given to our room. The cleanliness was impeccable and the room layout excellent. Rising from our very comfortable bed we headed down for breakfast which is buffet style. Superb in every respect. We have stayed in hotels which offer lesser service at a premium price and we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and look forward to visiting again.
Spent a comfortable relaxing night here this week on route to Flamingo Land with my wife and 7 year old . Very good location on outskirts of York with parking and excellent staff. Very comfortable family room and very pleasant room and comfortable beds.
First time that I have stayed outside the york city centre and it was a good choice. Free parking, wi-if and a nice breakfast for a lot less than a city centre hotel. Next to a Toby carvery and close to the park and ride you do not need to drive into the city centre. Lovely big bed and one of the best showers in any hotel that I have stayed in. Got a ground floor, was very quiet and only heard a noise when a delivery truck came about 7am. Oh, the receptionist was excellent.. very funny... efficient and got us booked in very quickly.
This hotel is in a great location to visit and tour York and it's surrounding area. On the edge of York about a mile from the Monks Cross shopping centre and the park and ride into York. It cost £5.80 return for 2 people, parking free. Buses are very frequent about every 10 minutes. The hotel, for a short stay was fantastic, very clean and fresh. There was ample space in the room, lovely bathroom fantastic shower.Very comfy beds and a great tv. The breakfast was as good as any 4*star I've stayed in.Good tasty selection of hot and cold. food and a nice drinks selection. Couldn't fault it. The staff on arrival were very welcoming and friendly, this continued throughout our stay. There is a Toby Carvery next door, the roast dinner was very good value for money. Would've preferred somewhere nearby with a more varied menu but it was very nice. There may be more restaurants at Mnks Cross we didn't explore that option as we just wanted to dump the car and eat having been on our feet all day in York. Would we use this hotel as a base again, yes we would,it turned out to be an excellent choice.
we had a good stay in this hotel. we booked a room for 4 persons. The staff was helpful and gave us a very large room with a large bathroom. It was quite and clean. The prices are really resonable. the breakfast was various and the service was excellent.
The staff were ever so helpful in assisting us with our stay. The breakfast was was tasty and had a good selection. Very comfortable rooms and catered to the family made up of all ages. We all liked how the bathroom door also could be made to just seal the toilet off. Made it very practical with us all trying to get ready for a wedding !
This was our first visit to York and we chose the Holiday Inn Express as it was just out of the city and with two retail parks located within a 5 minute drive with a 'park and ride' facility to get to York. Our previous visits to a HIE had always been pleasant and so why not try another. The hotel is lovely and clean and the staff are genuinely friendly. It's not a large hotel but had everything most people would need. The room was comfortable and had good blackout blinds and curtains. The breakfast was lovely! It had hot bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and baked beans and also a good choice of pastries, toast, croissants, tea, coffee, juice etc. It is all self service from heated shelves and there were staff on hand to replenish the stock so it wasn't necessary to get down there early. Andrea was fantastic, making sure nothing ran out and continually topping up the supplies. A real character and true asset for the hotel! All the other staff were so friendly and obliging it made our stay very enjoyable. A Toby Carvery is immediately next door and this was a great place for a carvery at a great price. There is also a superb John Lewis store within 5 minutes of the hotel.
