Furnished to a high standard, 2 Dix Cottages is an exquisite and stylish delight nestled at the heart of the charming coastal village of Thornham. Surrounded by stunning walks, and very close to the outstanding gastropubs, the deli, and other fabulous village amenities, this hideaway is also a 25 minute walk from the beach.

Ideal for a family summer break, or a great base for good friends to spend time away together, 2 Dix Cottages exudes relaxation. Deceptively spacious and comfortable, the cottage has been styled to emulate a vibrant boutique hotel, yet feels like a welcoming home from home. The social hub of the cottage effortlessly blends a well-equipped bespoke kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Glazed french doors lead out to the garden with windows to three sides of the room enjoy lush green views, meaning the room is flooded with natural light. An additional elegant snug room invites guests to nestle deep into the sumptuous sofas after a day spent exploring. This ground floor is warmed via an air source heat pump heating, which is underfloor to some rooms, plus not just one, but two charming wood burning stoves. Upstairs, three beautifully curated bedrooms are presented; a king-size master bedroom with en suite shower room; a twin room with beds that can be converted to a super-king; and a twin room with en suite shower room. A good-sized family bathroom features a roll top bath and separate walk-in shower. Outside, the west facing walled garden hosts mature fruit trees with a shrub border. Garden furniture for dining al fresco is available on the terraced area. Two cars can park on the cottage's private driveway.

Located in the middle of the village, 2 Dix Cottages boasts some wonderful places to eat right on the doorstep. The award-winning gastropub The Orange Tree is just over the road. Five minutes walk away, Thornham Deli offers great breakfasts and relaxed dining. A little further down the road there is a selection of eateries and shops at the Drove Orchards, including superb fish and chips or pizza at Eric's. Walkers and birdwatchers are spoilt for choice with the North Norfolk coast path moments away, and RSPB Titchwell a short drive or half hour walk away. Thornham also has its own beautiful, often deserted, wide expanse of sandy beach which is waiting to be discovered. The vast beach at Brancaster with its resident colony of seals is ten minutes' drive way. The Coasthopper bus stops in the village, making it easy to get anywhere along the coast.

Comfortable home in a great location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dix Cottages and would love to come back. It was spacious, comfortable, warm and ideally situated. The garden was large and pretty. We could walk to the three local pubs, the sea and Thornham Deli plus there were really enjoyable coastal walks close by too. We’ve stayed in a number of places along the coast over many years and we think this has been the best. Definitely recommend.

A nice stay in a wonderful village

The house is in a fantastic location in the heart of Thornham close to the pubs, deli and walks to Holmes Dunes and beyond. Whilst it is well equipped, we had a number of issue. The showers in the two on-suites are just dribbles of water. The pillows in some of the bedrooms are rather uncomfortable. Wi-Fi is intermittent. There is a lovely wood burner but no logs are left. There was just one pint glass in the house. It’s a pleasant house, but not one i would describe as luxurious.

The heating system leaves a lot to be desired, radiators were barely warm no matter what the thermostat was set at. Bedrooms were cold. The third bedroom was small and had nowhere to hang clothes. The location was ideal, pity about the above.

Lovely cottage

Thoroughly enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage in great location. Only downside was the weather but this did not deter us from walking out. Perhaps encourage owners to provide logs for wood burners? - but this is only a very minor point. Lifeboat pub - excellent food. Thank you

Minor irritations

Although the cottage, overall, suited us and was as described there were a few issues which would be quite easy to sort: - the door to bedroom 3 and its en-suite stuck and were difficult to close without slamming - the bottom drawer of the chest of drawers in bedroom 3 made so much noise when opening, it woke up the couple in the main bedroom! - the toilet rolls provided were so thin they were practically not fit for purpose, and we were not sure why they were left in the kitchen and not put in each bathroom - the central heating was very erratic and a couple of mornings and evenings the bedroom radiators never did heat up - why did we have to go out a buy an oven cloth? Fairly standard provision for a self catering property, I would have thought - only one light on the cooker hood worked. - it would be quite easy to create more parking space if 6 adults are able to book, rather than just families At present I would recommend with a proviso.

A great family house

This property proved to be exactly what we wanted for a family holiday. The fact that it has two sitting rooms meant that the children could disappear occasionally to either play with toys or watch television. Alternatively they could be in the same room when meals were being prepared etc. The garden is the real bonus - it is large and secure and big enough for ball games etc. All the seating and beds etc are very comfortable. Note to owners - some egg cups and a lemon squeezer would be useful additions

Beautiful cottage with most amazing garden. Perfect space for spending a long awaited week with our family of 3 generations. The location of this cottage is excellent, with good pubs serving good food one of our favourites was directly across the rd from the cottage, local farm shop within easy walking distance.the carpet in the dining area we felt needed a clean as it was stained.we Felt the walk from the parking area with bags could be a problem particularly for older visitors. Beautiful cottage in Thornham, Norfolk

It was our fourth stay at No 2 Dix Cottages. It’s a beautiful cottage and we love the open plan kitchen/diner/lounge. On arrival, the heating had not been turned on and it was chilly but we soon got the log burner going. Previously, we would have been greeted with a bottle of wine and chocolates which was a lovely touch but I guess they are cutting back. Despite this, we enjoyed the convenience of 3 double rooms with bathrooms and also a downstairs sofa bed and bathroom. I had requested for the sofa bed to be put up because I had a leg injury but luckily my relatives arrived before me and were able to set it up. The cottage has a beautiful garden and we enjoyed watching all of the wildlife. Lovely meal at the Orange Tree just across the road.

A peaceful retreat and family holiday

The family have never been to Norfolk before and we didn't quite know what to expect. It is such a beautiful area with spectacular birding and wildlife. The beaches are very wide and golden, just right for our toddler grandson. We found so much to do that a week really wasn't enough so we will be back. The property was great for all generations and the large garden was well used for toddler bike rides and golf games as well as barbeques and breakfast in the sunshine. The house is well equipped and was never cold. We have all fallen in love with North Norfolk.
