Comfortable Stay, but Breakfast Needs Improvement

Our stay at the Holiday Inn Hull was overall not bad—the room and general experience were fine. However, the breakfast could definitely be improved. There were very limited options for vegetarians, and surprisingly, no fried eggs were available. A wider selection would have made the stay much better.

Was a party of 5 rooms, 4 of which checked in about 7pm. Last one arrived after 10pm and was told there’d been a system issue. More a case of an overbooking policy. You’d think they’d noticed that 4 of the party had arrived and maybe check with us if the last room was still coming. Cheek of it was, they tried to relocate my colleague to the travelodge down the road. Am sure IHG policy is to equivalent or higher standard. Travelodge would have been much cheaper so they’d have earned a profit on the relocation! Thankfully we got a refund for it and our colleague found somewhere else more suitable

The hotel is centrally located and ok. It is looking a bit old, but better than most hotels in Hull for the same price. In the room, there are no sockets near me bed.

Good value city centre hotel

Attached to shopping centre car park with discount for hotel guest. Restaurant chains and several high street brands next door. Breakfast range ok, hot food WAS hot and tea/coffee available from same area all day. Only small whinge was that the double bed was smaller and softer than our own. Staff helpful and all hotel areas were clean. 20 mins walk to museum quarter and 15 to local history centre.

Would have been nice to have the sofa bed made

Overall the stay was fine, room in good condition, the breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. The room booked was a room with a double bed and a sofa bed. However it was frustrating upon arrival to the room, the sofa bed hadn’t been set up and I asked the reception staff if it could be done when going out to a wedding party I was told it would be done before we would get back at midnight. Upon returning to the hotel just after midnight, I came back to the room to see the sofa bed had not been made. I went to the reception and the overnight staff were frustrated this hadn’t been sorted. They were great as they immediately got it sorted out. Was frustrating it took three goes to get the sofa bed set up.

A very nice way to rest during our trip to Hull

David and the staff were amazing. We got so much great service, information, food and beverage service and overall logistics help. The kitchen staff were on top of everything, cleaning tables and refreshing breakfast items. They all deserve major praise. That can't be an easy job. And they did it all with poise, service and smiles.
