Will recommend to anyone that’s in the Houston ,Tx area

Breakfast, not included in room rate. Lobby has a 'fake' Starbucks for breakfast. Not adequate. Did not want breakfast served in room. In fact, didn't eat anything in hotel. during stay. Bottle of water, in room, was $6.00. Bathroom shower tub very slippery and dangerous. Needs rubber mat or whatever.(I reported this to front desk on check-out.) Checked out open pool area, but too cold and blustery, during my stay.

The view that we paid for was a parking garage. The bathtub did not drain. At all.

Great location, like ti very much. excellent service.

Upon check in, we find out that there is an $18 convenience fee per night for things such as show shines, the pool, the gym, and free blazing fast wifi. Aside from the wifi, we weren't going to have time to enjoy any of those other services, so it seemed pointless to have to pay for them. The wifi was incredibly slow, so I couldn't do the work I needed to do there. The toilet was running and I had to jiggle the handle every time it started. And finally, the bath tub had a slow drain so I had water up to my ankles for my showers. I really expected an experience that was more in relaxing & enjoyable for the rates that incurred for parking, convenience fees, and the actual rate. I felt a little robbed in the end.

I do not like added fees! When I got to the hotel they said there is a $15.00 daily amenity fee. This was in my contract three pages in. However I did not see it Please be up front with your charges. It made a great experience not that great.

Please do not book a room here, the hotel and service is bad...............

Easy to get to. Very cool deco design. Comfortable. Nice view. Only complaint was the restaurant. 4 glasses of wine (house) and 2 orders of fish tacos for $100. Not good.

Booked the reservation in my name through Orbitz for my fiancé who arrived at the hotel and would not be checked in even after I spoke to the receptionist. Also not excited about a $16 fee and $35/night parking fee.

Overall, nice room that was clean and modern. There were plenty of expensive snacks taking up counter space. Check-in was easy but the line was long with only one agent. The self parking situation is a little weird...you park, then tell them your license number, so I'm not sure how that is monitored. Hotel Derek has a modern vibe, but the crowd is younger, round mid 20s...so you get that scene. Not necessarily bad, but loud laughing and skimpy dressing in random places.

Tries too hard to cater to a certain crowd. The hotel needs to hire a window washer immediately! Watch out for hidden fees! Won't stay there again but the area is awesome for shopping and dining!

Stayed as a family. Nice to have pool tables and swimming available. Convenient to Galleria.

It was nice visiting...overpriced coffee at the Starbucks.

The hotel was trendy and had some good amenities, but lacked some of the refinement in service and finer details. Great little coffee bar off the main restaurant for coffee in the morning. The bar and restaurant area has plenty of seating and tables. I appreciated the lounge area within the space. Gym was decent as compared to some of the main stream chains and had bottle water and apples. Pool area looked okay, but it was a little chilly to really get to experience it. The rooms while comfortable need a little updating in the bathroom. It looked like it was in great shape 10 years ago and now needs a little attention to the smaller details i.e. cracks in the tub, chips in the paint, soft goods a bit warn. Front desk was fine during my check-in, but my colleague had a little difficulty with room assignments and had to move twice. All-in-all the hotel was above average and had more personality than many of the chains. I would stay here again.

Room was a bit in the small side. Water in tub was clogging during a shower. Rainfall shower heads were def the best part of the room.

Toilet did not work. Changed rooms. Bathroom was dirty and hair in the bed.

When in Houston; Hotel Derek Houston Galleria is our choice.

The Derek experience was competent and easy...great people greeting and checking you in and an easy place to be and use as a base...Great amenities and high maintenance level...Really nice hotel for Houston.

The hotel was very clean and nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the restaurant located in the hotel was amazing!

Nice room, quite, comfortable. Two issues - fees charged at check out that we not disclosed when booking or checking in. Hotel Derek Service Fees - Fees included daily gym fees and towels for the pool neither of which we used. Second there are no vending machines forcing you to use their bar or the items stored in the refrigerator in your room.
