Stayed as a family. Nice to have pool tables and swimming available. Convenient to Galleria.
It was nice visiting...overpriced coffee at the Starbucks.
The hotel was trendy and had some good amenities, but lacked some of the refinement in service and finer details. Great little coffee bar off the main restaurant for coffee in the morning. The bar and restaurant area has plenty of seating and tables. I appreciated the lounge area within the space. Gym was decent as compared to some of the main stream chains and had bottle water and apples. Pool area looked okay, but it was a little chilly to really get to experience it. The rooms while comfortable need a little updating in the bathroom. It looked like it was in great shape 10 years ago and now needs a little attention to the smaller details i.e. cracks in the tub, chips in the paint, soft goods a bit warn. Front desk was fine during my check-in, but my colleague had a little difficulty with room assignments and had to move twice. All-in-all the hotel was above average and had more personality than many of the chains. I would stay here again.
Room was a bit in the small side. Water in tub was clogging during a shower. Rainfall shower heads were def the best part of the room.
Toilet did not work. Changed rooms. Bathroom was dirty and hair in the bed.
When in Houston; Hotel Derek Houston Galleria is our choice.
The Derek experience was competent and easy...great people greeting and checking you in and an easy place to be and use as a base...Great amenities and high maintenance level...Really nice hotel for Houston.
The hotel was very clean and nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the restaurant located in the hotel was amazing!
Nice room, quite, comfortable. Two issues - fees charged at check out that we not disclosed when booking or checking in. Hotel Derek Service Fees - Fees included daily gym fees and towels for the pool neither of which we used. Second there are no vending machines forcing you to use their bar or the items stored in the refrigerator in your room.
Brace yourself for the extra fees: My $115 room jumped to $172 per night after "Self-Parking, Parking Tax, Hotel Derek Service Fee, Misc Tax, & Taxes & Fees" were added to my bill. Do yourself a favor and stay across the street at the Westin; it's nicer, in a much better location, & roughly the same price.
The experience is great. The only suggestion is that they include softer pillows.
This was my second time staying at hotel Derek. The hotel is an a great location and the service and food is great!
Great location, staff was super accommodating. Allowed us to check in early and even upgraded out standard double to a superior double. Their room key machine was down so they gave us complimentary drinks at the bar while we waited. The hotel's western theme was awesome. Only bad thing was the pool, wish it was located in an area where more sun could come through. The surrounding buildings made it very shady.
The attention to its' guests' experience is what makes Hotel Derek standout from other hotels. During my stay, my daughter and I felt like all the attention was on us and that we were the only guests there.
I really enjoyed my stay here. Will definitely stay again. The only thing I wish was better was a nice big tub or jacuzzi in the room!
whrnwe booked this hotel we forgot what we didn't like about it from our last stay. Valet and self park are really expensive. For an Additional $40 a day I could have stayed at another hotel.
Decided to get a room just for the night and it was great. Purchased my room an hour before I got there and it was lol good to go. Derek did charge a bit more for some hotel fee or something.
The hotel attempted to charge another night fraudulently.
Excellent service, nice facilities and very well located
Honestly I stay here all the time and this experience was the worst I have had. I got billed for a long distance call and my room was called two times at 7 am and for no reason.
