My room was the size of a shoebox, literally! Poor temperature regulation in the room, way too hot for my liking! The bathroom, on the other hand, was cold. The water from the shower overflowed the floor, and because of lack of heating in the bathroom, the floor was still wet the next morning. On a positive note, the breakfast was excellent!
Good hotel, but small rooms. Good value for Money. Excellent breakfast. Central location, located near Bybanen (Bergen light rail) and other Public transport. Walking distance to most tourist attractions in Bergen.
Central location. The bus to and from the airport stops nearby. Some of the single rooms are very small. I brought a big suitcase, and found it difficult to place it in the room, and open the door to the bathroom at the same time. Choose between window to the street or the backyard. The breakfast is good, with a wide range of cold an hot (eggs, omelettes etc) food. You can also have special coffee (espresso, cappucino etc) if you ask for it. Elevators and stairs. Free WiFi.
Spent 3 days in Bergen and chose this hotel because of its location and the breakfast. The hotel is situated close to the city park and with the city centre only a 4 minute walk away. I arrived late in the evening and was very disappointed to see the dirty bathroom in my room. I let the front desk know the morning after, and did not get an apology. They cleaned it during the next day, but it was not sufficient. The shower was not comfortable with its thin jet. Thankfully the breakfast was as good as the former reviews - but very crowded. All in all a disappointing stay.
My wife and I stayed here for two nights prior to boarding a cruise to the Arctic Ocean. The rooms are simple but clean. The price per night was reasonable. The bed was very comfortable. The wifi is excellent. What impressed me the most was the breakfast buffet that was included in the price of the room. The selection was extensive and the quantity of the food was outstanding. I would stay at this Scandic location again should I find myself in Bergen, Norway at some point in the future.
Great great breakfast, with both local stuff and really really good quality stuff! Location is good as well, close to everyting and close to airport transfer. This hotel really focus on quality in breakfast, and they do it so well I almost always choose this hotel when in Bergen
This hotel is centrally located and decorated in a modern style. Each room has a mini-fridge that can be used to stock up from a grocery store (there are two of them a short walk from the hotel) so as to avoid eating out in pricey Bergen. The breakfast is the best I have had whilst traveling, including the fancy hotels I've used for business trips. I would list all the available food items, but that would take ages. I'll say this, if you can imagine a breakfast food, this place has it. They even have gluten-free baked goods for guests with dietary restrictions.
Location of the hotel is very good. The room that we stayed in was rather small. The bathroom was very small. The room and bathroom was neat and clean. The breakfast was adequate. The price of the room was on the higher side. There are other hotels available nearby at cheaper rates. However this hotel also offers dinner for Scandic members. We could see the Fløibanen clearly from our room.
Myself and my partner booked in to this hotel for 2 nights for early September. A simple and central hotel on first impression. We got to our room after a smooth and friendly check in. The room looked into a very dirty and dark space between buildings and the window to our room was about 10 feet from a window in the next building. Not particularly great. We had to keep the curtains closed when we were in. Breakfast was out of this world. Everything you could ever want was provided. Absolutely faultless. For central Bergen, this hotel is great. It's not luxury- but it's got what you need for a simple city break. I would warn you though that there is a lot of noise in this hotel. Both nights we stayed here, there was a lot of music coming from what I presume is a local bar. I travel with ear plugs so I just put them in but if you don't have them, it could have caused irritation
I liked this hotel but there were a few things that really stood out, both good and bad: The rooms are so teeny-tiny. We had a "standard" room and yes, they are very small! We had a hard time passing each other going to and from the bathroom. Okay, yes, I get it. Pay more for a Superior room. But Jeesh. Norway is so expensive already that to pay more for a larger room seems a bit insane. You will see trolls everywhere in Norway and I think these little rooms were made for the tiny trolls. The Good: Well, it's the location. It's very very good, right on the Byparken. You can walk to and from the train station or bus station in just a few minutes. And the airport bus leaves from Olav Kyrres Gate which is just one block up from the hotel. Oh, and also good is the breakfast, which was the best we had in all of Norway. High quality smoked salmon was very much appreciated. On the contrary was their dinner bufffet which looked horrible and very much overpriced featuring just a lot of pasta and tortilla chips. Gosh, Guys. You can do better than that for the price you're charging! They have very attractive and young people working the front desk but they're not very friendly. I think that is a Norwegian thing. Their chilly climate extends to their people as well. No matter, the hotel is good and the staff are good and I would certainly recommend this hotel, as long as you can deal with a very small room. If you require a larger room you must pay more for the "Superior" rooms.
