hotel is nice, the best about the hotel is probably its location, and view trough the window. the staff was very helping and friendly. they do offer 2 "destination chargers" for EV which is nice. get a room with seaview :)
All images of the hotel show an amazing view from the hotel on to the Fjord, but the reality looks very different. We had booked a rather expensive room with a balcony and Fjordview, but all we got was a view on cruise ships. When arriving at approx. 05:00 pm we were told by the reception that the ship would leave within an hour or two. Well, it actually left at almost midnight. But the real surprise came when waking up at 06:45 am and opening the curtains an even higher ship was standing right in front of our balcony. So during our whole stay the only time having a view of the Fjord was during some hours in the night. In the end, it is not only the view that is disturbing, but also the constant noise and odor coming from the ships' engines. Touching the window you could feel the vibration and opening the window/ using the balcony you could smell them. Besides not having any views of the Fjord, not even from the restaurant, the food was mediocre. Coming to breakfast at 07:30 am there were only leftovers from tour groups, several empty platters with fruit, smoked salmon, marmelade etc. were not filled up for the remaining individual travelers. The choices in general were mediocre e.g. no pastries or fried eggs which are usually provided in hotels of this category (or maybe these were just not refilled either). The room was ok and actually quite large, but quite outdated, an impression you do not get at first when entering the nicely, contemporarily furnished lobby, front desk and restaurant. The staff was friendly, but the quality of the service could be improved as there were some mishaps as well like forgetting the extra bed which I had mentioned with my booking or having the wrong amount of my restaurant bill, which I had personally signed with the correct amount the evening before. These were all fixed and ok in the end, but spending time on these clarifications was a little annoying. So overall, rather bad value for money unless you might get a cheaper room on the back side of the hotel. It might be worth checking out which cruise ships are coming on the day you want to stay to book the best room and not spend money on something you do not get in the end. You can easily google for cruise ships stopping in Eidfjord to get timetables. I found that out at midnight during our stay, but that was, unfortunately, too late.
The Hotel is close to the sea with excellent views of the sea, fjord and the mountains, we found it clean, there was a Grieg concert there and we were invited to attend which really made our time there fantastic
We where 28 people driving veteran cars staying in this hotel. The location of the hotel close to the sea is very good, the surroundings of the hotel is beautiful. The staff are very service minded, and the food we had was very tasteful. We had a pre drink in the gallery, and we got told the story of the painter and the pictures, very interesting. Both the view from the seaside room, and the beds are excellent.
Not many hotels on this site, and that an important point for rest of at run-trip between eastern Norway and the west coast, this hotel will probably continue to exist. But for me as a guest, it was a disappointment. We got all sad and dark room, overlooking a most dilapidated buildings (broken windowpanes and cats that lived in the house) as well as our room was directly above the staff break room where they smoked. I personally stayed in a handicap room, it was okay - but this room was not cleaned (soda bottles was left from a previous guest) Only one lamp in the room worked and the bathroom was a narrow ledge that was mounted askew - so all you sat there fell on the floor. The foyer and the dining room was ok but the food was very disappointing. To be a Petter Stordalen hotel I was particularly disappointed. Nothing organic and very much straight from the box and canned food, after dinner the dessert table was filled with puddings and cakes you can buy in any store, not even whipped cream was whipped and were offered. But the view of the bay was beautiful, the history in the walls and staff were nice. This could only have been so much better - this hotel company IS better. We paid dearly - so hope that in the future is money to upgrade rooms and keep a higher level of food - then I want to come back.
First impressions when you arrive are good as the hotel looks right out onto he fjord. The hotel has its own large car park which was free. Reception staff very friendly and spoke excellent English. Our room was very spacious and lovely and clean, it faced the mountains. There was very good wifi connection in our room. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in our room, but this seemed to be the case in most of the hotels we stayed in. Our meals were included in this hotel and it was a buffet service dinner and breakfast with a huge selection of hot and cold dishes and was of good quality. It has a big dining area and we had no trouble finding a seat overlooking the lake. This is a large hotel and to some extent a little impersonal but for an overnight stop it ticked all the boxes. I would stay here again if the need arose.
Great Location, excellent breakfast, spacious room, ample parking, free and strong wifi connection, and the staff is the best of the best.....most friendly, cheerful, kind and accommodating. Highly recommend this place to everyone!!!! Thanks for making our stay very comfortable!!! Will visit again.
This is a below average hotel. Rooms are small, shady, and not comfortable. Breakfast was terrible. You couldn't get a table. All the guests squeezed together around long tables. Only a single staff member for more than 100 people. Poor dinner. They should take points from choice hotels US.
We had a good sized room with a small balcony overlooking the Fjord. Plenty of space to store the suitcases and a small fridge to keep things cold. No minibar but the front desk sold alcohol and snacks. Service was good and breakfast was plentiful. The front desk staff was helpful with needed bus arrangements.
very seldomly you arrive a hotel and you like it as soon as you entered..we felt the same for this hotel.when you enter decoration is soft and relax ,location can be only said perfect just opposite of the fjord.ı do not know that are all the rooms facing to fjord but ours was great wiev.rooms and bathroom were large enough comfortable, very good breakfast better than most of the hotels we stayed last 15 days in our tour.staff were very friendly.ı recommend everyone.
