We arrived at the resort after a long (awesome) day of cave tubing and travel (we were in Cayo at Nina's Place, highly recommended!) and just wanted room service for dinner. I was told there was no way they could deliver to our room, but I could pick it up. Ok fine, I'll get it myself. I arrive on time to get the food and have to wait another 30 minutes and it's not boxed up and requires staff to help me get it to my room. Not a great way to start our stay. Next morning we leave the room hoping room service would be in soon to clean as the dishes from the night before weren't smelling great and I didn't want to leave dishes outside the room. I go to the room around 12:30pm no sign of room service so I ask if they could make it a priority or at least get the dishes, told 'they would see would they can do.' I go back to the beach and when I go back to the room at 4pm and nothing has changed I call again asking if they can just take the dishes. Someone eventually showed up at 5pm. That day while on the beach a waiter came over to take our drink order (good start!), but it took him over 45 minutes to bring our drinks. After that order we didn't see him again. The restaurant food is meh and overpriced and they make it seems as though there's no other option. We talked to a few different people who worked at the resort and they tried to scare us into staying by saying it was 'dangerous' to leave the resort. Big eye roll on that one. Our second night there we walked past the tree/bushes at the edge of the resort to a local pizza place on beach which was great. Luckily we were only there two nights. Had it been a longer stay we would have changed resorts. Definitely would not stay here again.

This Resort is truly a little piece of Heaven! Beautiful and clean rooms, the staff is very friendly , helpful and knowledgeable, the grounds are very well kept and there is lots to do! Two pools, volleyball net and bikes are at your disposal anytime. The food at the Rhum Shack is very good and there is also a large variety of restaurants in the area. There is live entertainment every night -except Mondays - at nearby establishments. If you're wanting adventure, there's diving, zip lining, cave tubing and even chocolate making in the area. After a day of adventure, finish off with a massage. Whether it's a Honeymoon, a family vacation or just plain "getting away" - make Hopkin's Bay Resort your final destination!!!

Our room was clean and comfortable. The covering on the futon is more than ready to be changed for a new one. It showed wear and tear from lots of people sitting on it with sand and salt on their swimsuits (I would guess). Our safe was locked and could not be unlocked by anyone, so the next day a new one was installed. The staff were generally courteous and helpful (especially Allen and Joseph). The restaurant waitresses were a bit sullen and impatient (I assume they put up with a lot), but we were always nice to them. Sometimes lunch was served and sometimes not. Two days that we were there were "not" days for lunch at the restaurant. They did have tacos at the bar. They were tasty, but the size of half dollars and the prices are in $USD. The restaurant food is inconsistent. One night we had a wonderful dinner. The rest of the times, the food was just ok. I am glad we did not get the meal plan, because it would have become tedious very quickly. The beach is not as nice as the beaches in the cayes. Both pools were functioning fine during our stay and did not smell bad. The coffee in the room is not top notch , but we were very glad to have it and it was certainly better than the coffee we had at their sister resort, Thatch Caye. They advise you not to drink the water and there are 5 gallon water jugs in the room. The water is not cooled, so you need to get ice if you like it cold. The bar is fine with giving you the ice, but there are no ice buckets, so they put it in a ziplock bag. Not so practical. So, our stay was not great, but it was good. Would I return to the place? Maybe, but I probably would try another spot.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Do not stay here. Trip Advisor does not even give me enough characters to write out all the terrible things that happened in our 30 hour stay here. Our entire experience was so bad that we left after one night and demanded a refund and went to stay at Hamanasi at the south end of the village. I highly highly recommend Hamanasi, Jaguar Reef or Almond Beach resort. I can actually only speak to Hamanasi because that is where we stayed when we left Hopkins Bay Resort and they were incredible one of the best places I have ever stayed so we went from worse to best in a matter of ten minutes and 3 miles. Stay in the South end of town. Here is my experience: We paid $300 per night for a three night stay to end or 9 day trip to Belize for a belated honeymoon. The pictures and reviews made in look and sound great. The day before we arrived we contacted Blue Horizon (affiliated with the resort for booking excursions) and asked to book a fishing/snorkeling trip. They were pleasant and quoted us $75 total and said we would be picked up at 7:45am, they just said we needed to confirm with Allen once we arrived at the resort. So we arrive at it is located at the very north end of the town (not within walking distance of anything) They gave us a little tour and took us to our room (Sea view villa room). We did have a balcony with a sea view (the beach was nothing great), there were two pools one of which was not working, the room smelled of mildew, there was mold on the walls, there were stains on the bathroom walls that looked like mud or blood (not sure which), the safe was broken and when you showered the water made this horrible high pitched screech for the duration of the shower. But it was a king bed and looked similar to the pictures just not near as vibrant and luxurious as the photos make it seem. My husband went immediately to talk to Allen about or fishing trip and came back ten minutes later extremely upset because Allen told him the trip was now $210 per person and that we couldn't even go anyways because it was just the two of us. Allen made no attempt to find a trip we could go on or rectify the situation he just said well I am leaving now. We booked another fishing trip last minute on our own for the next morning. We spent one night and the next day had people constantly calling our room and knocking on our door to try and fix our broken safe that we couldn't event take a nap in peace after a long day of fishing.

We were not pleased with our stay there, we stayed at Belizean Dreams resort a few years ago and was expecting the same experience (which was excellent). The rooms look like they have not been very well taken care of, the floor is pealing and it just does not compare well with Belizean Dreams. The downstairs was very noisy and despite complaints more than one nothing was ever done. We finally had to approach the downstairs guest ourselves to get some quite time. The restaurant is very limited in its offering. You can only walk on the beach for a little ways before it is blocked by a big tree. I probably asked 10 times about booking me on a fishing trip. Finally the young lady behind the desk got it taken care of after 6 days. By the was she was very good and very friendly. She was the most helpful of all the staff. Bottom line we will not return to the resort.

A great location is overshadowed by frequently ambivalent and sometimes rude customer service. Routine guest requests were met with eye rolls, sighs and disinterest. The property itself is showing its age and needs some TLC. Paint is cracking, chipping and falling off of the ceiling. Mold is growing in place exposed to the sea breeze. None of this is a big deal but a five star experience it does not make. If you are a regular traveler with a moderate to high level of expectations, you are likely to be disappointed in this hotel as we were. I truly do not understand the five star reviews and can only surmise that they are written by families who do not regularly travel at this price point; I would take them with a grain of salt. On the opposite side of Hopkins, there are a number of resorts that seem much nicer for the money. We would not stay here again. Ultimately, this hotel was not a good value for the money for us.

Analtio (the assistant manager) was so helpful during our stay. My husband needed to see a doctor so Analtio set everything up drove us himself, and delivered us to our tour just in time for the boat to leave. We loved the view from our room. Coffee in the room is not so great so I would recommend you bring your own. There were little sugar ants in the room (only by the fridge/coffee maker) so I would be very careful not to leave anything sitting out.

My cousin and I took a girls trip to Belize in April. Booked a room at Hopkins Bay Resort and loved it. From the first time we stepped on the property, we knew it was special. We were greeted warmly and treated very well throughout our stay. They remembered us throughout our trip. The people were top notch as mentioned, however the facility was equally nice. Our room faced the ocean with large deck to sit out on to enjoy the sun rises and sun sets. Very clean and spacious. We even watched TV! We will definitely go back when we return to Belize!

We had a 3-bedroom house right on the beach – lovely interior, lovely view, and it felt very private because we were so close to the water. I traveled with my children and we happily split our time between the pools, the beach, the hammocks, and the Rhum Shack. What really elevated an already great experience was the wonderful care Allen the concierge took of us. At the last minute, my husband was unable to travel with us, so all our pre-planning had to be changed. My son has quite severe autism, so I had to rethink everything with only one adult present, and Allen couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. He took the time to get a good sense of my family, made genuinely insightful recommendations about which excursions would work, made all the phone calls, arranged some private tours, and enabled us not only to enjoy the resort but to do some fun things beyond the resort, too. I feel like we had the best possible vacation we could have had, and that although it was a busy time (Spring break / Easter) and Allen was responsible for all the guests, he personally checked in frequently to see if I needed or wanted anything, and made sure that my family and I were genuinely welcome and felt comfortable and happy. Thanks so much, Allen and the team at Hopkins Bay – we loved staying with you!!

Hopkins Bay Resort was wonderful! The room was just as lovely as in the pictures. We had a one bedroom upstairs which was perfect for us. It had a king size bed, spacious bathroom, coffee maker and mini fridge and great deck with chairs. The view was gorgeous. We enjoyed the town of Hopkins and rode the bikes into town one day. One of the things I loved most about Hopkins was all of the staff was from the town. As a traveler, it helped me learn more about the town, people and country. We ate at the Rhum Shack and they really do have the "Worlds Best Pina Colada". King is the best! We went to Glover's Atoll with Belize Underwater which was a great experience. The ocean water at the resort isn't as clear and turquoise as other resorts in Belize but the resort grounds were fantastic.
