The house was lovely but was disappointed with turnkey response

Nice getaway
The house is great, newly renovated. Honokaa is a nice relaxing town, cute Main street. I like that it is away from a lot of the touristy areas. Very humid, so be ready for that!

Good Property, Not so good Experrience
Its always hard to put down one number for all the different parts of the puzzle. Hope you read this review completely before agreeing or disagreeing with my three-star review.
First and foremost, we had a VRBO home in Kona that was cancelled last minute on us and we had to find another one for 6 people and we found this one. On a side note, this is the second time a last-minute cancellation is happening to me and there was no compensation to me. If I had cancelled last minute, I would have lost money. This is one way.
First for the good:
The home is nice, sleeps 6 comfortably, was clean when we got there, has tons of towels, sheets. Kitchen is stocked with all the pots, pans and utensils. It appears the home was recently remodeled as all the appliances where new (or almost new). The furniture is all matching. The lanai is nice. We mostly ate in the lanai. Its an hour from Kona and Hilo. Very close to many falls, 15 mins to Waipio Valley (black sand beach), Vanilla farm and others. It is close to a grocery store. The home has beach chairs and boogie board.
Now for our experience:
Due to a delayed flight, we reached the property at about 10pm. Due to the rural setting of the home, there were no lights around. The one motion detector light comes and goes fast so one has to keep moving to keep that light on. The front gate was padlocked and there was no way to get in. My boys being scouts jumped the fence to go into the home and they were able to open it. The problem remained as to how to get my old uncle and aunt into the house. They brought the two high bar stools and two lower chairs and placed it on either side of the gate expecting my uncle to use them as steppingstones over the gate.
In the meantime, I was on the phone with TurnkeyVR support, and they found some person who called us to give the code to the combination lock. Fortunately, that solved the issue.
Other issues
1. Kitchen faucet was not secure. It was falling over. Had to log an issue and it was fixed next day.
2. The dishwasher was not secure, and it would slide out. So if you pull out the top tray, the whole dishwasher would lean over. Had to log an issue but was not fixed.
3. The cleaners did not throw out the burger buns from May/2021.
4. We only had T Mobile signal in the lanai. No AT&T. Don’t know about Verizon. You have to depend upon WIFI.
5. Had issues with WIFI so TurnkeyVR support gave us the password to the other SSID.
6. Two days into the trip there was no hot water,

Nice Family Place
This is a nice place. The kitchen equipment was a little basic with only a very small blender. House was extremely clean, except the cabinet handles in the kitchen were all sticky with, who-knows-what? It's nice to be able to walk to all the services in Honokaa, but the neighborhood is a little dicey, and the noise of industrial fans at the supermarket run pretty much all day. They aren't terribly loud, but they do detract from the bird song. The Tv was large and up-to-date so it was easy to access our Netflix account, and the wifi worked without a hitch. We loved the undeveloped gully full of Banana trees adjacent to the property and the hundreds of geckos that emerged from there to bask in the sun. We only used the Master bedroom, but this place would be a great value for a family/group with need of 3 bedrooms.

Great vacation home in the heart of Honoka'a
My family stayed in this home for my mother's high school reunion. It was perfect for our needs. It is not air conditioned (most homes in the area are not) but gets excellent cross-breezes with all windows open, and it gets quite cool at night. Fall asleep to the sounds of coqui frogs and wake up to cheerful roosters!

Clean, Modern and Comfortable Honokaa House.
My friends and I stayed at the house in Honokaa for five nights. Though we were out and about every day, it had everything we needed for our stay - fully equipped kitchen, modern appliances, comfortable and clean furniture and beds. If you are seeking a truer Hawaii experience and don't mind staying off the beaten path on the Big Island, this house is ideal.

Great stay. Highly recommended.
Beautiful property. Very well decorated with all the amenities of a home. The property is perfectly located in a quiet neighborhood at the end of a road. No vehicle thru traffic and conveniently located within walking distance to the grocery store and main street. The local rooster will let you know when it's time to start your day and have a hot cup of coffee on the lanai. Speaking of coffee, we were pleasantly surprised that Kona Coffee in abundance was available to enjoy. Parking is in the front yard and can handle several cars. We would have given this property a 4.5 star review if the hot water situation wasn't a little quirky. You have to leave the hot water running in the bathroom sink to keep the hot water coming during your shower. I think the water heater is programmed to trigger when the hot water runs out thus giving you a cool surprise during your bath. We also found a pack of cigarettes in the freezer which wouldn't have been a problem if it was my brand...and if I or anyone in my crew actually smoked. Also found expired milk in the fridge which we easily replaced with our own. These items could easily be fixed by reminding house keeping to add the refrigerator to the list of general chores. Overall, we all had a great stay and highly recommend this property. Aloha and take care, life is too short.
