Once again, the Royal Park Hotel did the business ! Don't be put off when you look at the map and see that the hotel is not right in the middle of Hong Kong. It's an easy 15 minute metro ride to the middle of the city, and the metro station is connected to the hotel, (about a 10 minute walk through a huge shopping mall). The hotel is of a very good standard, clean, great staff, lots of dining options, sports bar, outside bar, great buffet, pool, gym, directly connected to one of the best malls in Hong Kong, and next door to a lovely relaxing park. Getting to the hotel from the airport, the 41 bus (1 hr) stops right outside the hotel, or you can get the Airport Express to Tsing Yi (HKD 70) and then get a 30 min taxi ride for about HKD 150 The hotel USED to offer a free shuttle in both directions, but for some strange reason they have changed the shuttle times, making them pretty inconvenient for most arrival and departure times, and they now charge for the service. The hotel should be trying to make it EASIER to get to, rather than putting obstacles in the customers way, and it is beyond understanding why they are reducing their service in this area, when their main competitors are improving theirs. It seems like a daft management decision, especially when the hotel is so good on customer service in all other respects. I always gave this hotel the very top rating, but I'm afraid it drops a level because of cutting back on making it easy to get to.
I have stayed in Royal Park Hotel before as it is convenient and reliable. I have reviewed before but would like to add some updates. We chose to stay again during our recent visit. Customer service is great, I requested a firmer pillow on booking and this was delivered on check in. Plenty of amenities in the rooms like slippers, combs, toothbrushs etc that were regularly replaced. Housekeeping is reliable and bed was made with fresh with white linen and fresh towels! The pool and gym is quite large and well maintained. Only had the opportunity to use it once but really enjoyed it but the steam room was way too hot and couldnt see a thing inside. The hotel is connected to the new town plaza complex and also the sha tin mtr station so very accessible. Plenty of shops and restaurant within 5mins reach from the hotel. I never had a chance to try breakfast but there is plenty to each around for cheaper. As my previous comments mentioned - the room still needs updating, decor old and marks and stains on walls which shows its age. The hairdryer is useless. I know the hotel is getting refurbished this year so I hope the next time I visit, I can see a 5 star improvement to match the cost. There are other new hotel rising up nearby so this place has competition for the future. Thanks again for the lovely stay.
Nothing to worry if you stay in this hotel. It is so close to MTR and bus station. Shopping, all you need to do is get off at 3/F and enjoy! The room is spacious and bed is comfortable. Free Wi-Fi is available and I'm very happy with that. TV channels suitable for tourist.
I booked this hotel for wedding purpose. The hotel is located near Shatin station within 10 mins walk. Staff in lobby and lounge are friendly and nice. Food is good. The room is spacious with nice view.
If you need to be in Shatin or somewhere nearby, this is a good option in many ways. There is a direct airport bus (no.41A) that will drop you off at the door in 40 minutes. The rooms are a decent size and fully equipped (mini fridge, kettle, mini-safe, desk), the wifi is free, and the breakfast buffet extensive. You can walk into the New Town Plaza mall directly from the hotel, and from there to the Shatin MTR. Negatives include poor sound insulation within the hotel. In other words, although I could not hear the busses passing outside, every time one of my neighbors opened a drawer, I heard it, along with their conversations and so on. And the other hotel guests were noisy. Also, cleaning was perfunctory -- when I lost something under the bed, getting down to floor level revealed years of dust in corners and inconvenient crevices.
Since i have a toddler in this trip i really like that our room is big enough for her to be able to move around. It's a plus factor that the hotel is very near the bus stop and that the bus to and from the airport A41 stops in front of the hotel. It is also a quick access to an MTR station.
I needed help late one night, and the manager, Danny Szeto, came to my room and spent a lot of time helping me out with my computer. Extraordinary and gracious service! The breakfasts were superb too, some of my favorite dishes. Thank you.
City centre hotel with direct access to a very large shopping mall. I was visiting my daughter in Hong Kong stayed for two nights. Room was excellent everything I could have needed. We had a twin bedroom which was comfortable and keen room service is officiant clean towels and linen were provided baby. Go free breakfast was excellent Far East and dishes Western dishes cereals uses fresh fruit et cetera et cetera. There was also a well equipped gym very nice swimming pool. All in all very pleasant stay.
If you're looking for a place to stay with maximum convenience then this is your best bet with very reasonable room rate. It is located in Sha Tin connected to a huge shopping center with amble restaurants and brands from all over the world. Rooms are comfortable with views of the river or mountain. Train station also 5 min walk away which gets you to almost every place around town.
We stayed at the Royal park in Jan for 5 nts and returned later in Feb for 11 nts. Although we liked the room 1327 we could smell cigarette smoke on several occasions in the evenings. One late evening i had to call the assistant manager as it smelled very strong, they sent up housekeeping to spray some chemicals to mask the smell but that was so strong that it was uncomfortable to breathe. I do enjoy staying here though and would like to thank the lovely hotel maid as she was very kind and helpful and polite to us every day.
