Very caring environment. Was ideal location to connect with new child. Play area, generously sized room in horizon view service level. Deep soaking tub and separate stand-up shower. Ample fresh fruits provided

This is a late one. Comparing with other five star hotels in Hohhot, Shangri-La is no doubt the best one. I have to say that Shangri-La did a great job on quality control because other hotels simply can't reach their standard as that in tier one cities. Food is very good and service is provided by well trained staff. Especially I have to mention the baby sitting service from which I have an opportunity to experience a very nice team. Thank you, you really bring a home away from home. The only issue is that the room is a little bit small.

It is a 5 star hotel and given the location, you cannot really ask for more. Its breakfast is good and location convenient. In freezing cold winter you will find comfort. One aspect is the marble floor in the washroom which appears to be very slippery and may be something to consider.

The room was clean and well equipped. Personnel nice and available. The hotel is positioned in a quite central area and not far away from the airport. I did not have breakfast so I cannot rate it. The price is definitely well proportioned vs. hotel standard.

I stayed for 8 days during a business trip. My room on the 20th floor was very nice, generally fairly quiet, except for the last night when new guests in the hallway were noisy. The staff were very friendly, and there were enough that spoke English (unlike the Portman hotel where the business meetings were being held). Most of my meals during the 8 days were outside -- which was a good thing. The breakfast buffest was OK, but nowhere near as nice as my previous stay at a Shangri-La hotel, in Chiang Mai, Thailand (which was wonderful!). After getting back one evening, enjoyed a nice Bordeaux wine in the lounge, but it was pretty expensive (> $20/glass). Then one evening we ate dinner in the restaurant -- had the buffet and a not-quite-so-but-still-somewhat-expensive wine. The wine was mediocre, and the food was not at all pleasant. The Macdonald's down the street would have been better, and much less expensive! In summary, I'd certainly stay there again, but would definitely scout out other options for lunch or evening meals.

One of the nicest things about staying in the Shangri La is the breakfast or the quality of the buffet. The food at this branch was stale, lacking in choice and definitely not up to the Shangri-La standard. The hotel itself is dated and could do with a makeover. The staff were exceptionally helpful and nice though, so I feel bad about giving it a low rating but this place is 3 stars at best.

Hotel is in an excellent central location. Staff are friendly. Wide choice of options for buffet breakfast. Rooms have enough sockets (including next to the bed for charging phones at night) and were clean and spacious. I wanted to order room service when I arrived but the girl on duty didn't understand what I wanted (although I thought she had). I was then surprised 5 mins later when there was a knock at the door and I was asked to point to what I needed. As with almost all Chinese Hotels, you have to wear a Swimming cap for the pool

Great location. Well set up. Reasonable room size with all essential amenities. Bathroom with shower and bathtub. Swimming pool with Spa and sauna. Service was good. Good variety of Buffet breakfast. However, there were so many people smoking IN the hotel where Non -Smoking signed, even in the breakfast area.

Really nice hotel, good location, clean rooms, big buffet breakfast. Only, if you decide to go to swimming pool, they will force you to buy a swimming cap. You cannot use the hotel shower cap. It cost around 20 RMB and the quality is really bad and my hair got totally wet underneath. The rest was perfect.

Hotel is in a central location. The main sightseeing spots I could walk from the hotel. I booked the Horizon Lounge, great deal and a city view from the lounge. Staff are very kind and helpful. I like the gym, it is great.
