My wife and I had a mountain view room on level 6. The views of Mt Wellington and the bridge were terrific. We had breakfast included in our rate and also the loft Bistro and Pier One Restaurant - all meals were very good and the staf were excellent.
The Wrest Point Hotel Hobart is a good hotel with fabulous amazing views. The staff is brilliant they are on their game about looking after you. But the decor is dated it needs a facelift. Also they advertised a hairdresser Salon and they wasn't one there. As the a staff member sent me up to make a booking and I couldn't find one. I later found out that it had closed. So not all staff was informed so communication was not at it best amongst. All in all I enjoyed staying there and I would recommend the Wrest to anyone travelling to Hobart 👍🏻
We stayed here for one night on the second floor, our room was facing part mountain and sandy bay road. Unfortunately there was not a great view because of low clouds and fog, but other than that it didn't spoil our comfort in our room which was set out quite well, clean and warm but it is a little dated and could use a revamp. Not too far away from the city and has an amazing place called The Loft to dine in, very yummy food. We also experienced a concert there which was amazing and then went into a bar called the birdcage for a couple of beverages. If you please, you can then go into the gambling area for a chance at winning or just wander and find yourself a chair and listen to the local entertainment provided throughout the Casino. Overall it was a great experience for us and we will be back.
My husband & I stayed in a waterfront room for four nights on our honeymoon it was so peaceful & quiet with such a stunning view What we loved about Wrest Point the most though is that everything is in the one place Riverview snacks in the gaming area was our favourite everyday eatery however if you get a chance to go up to the Revolving Restraunt it is the most incredible experience Amazing views, the service & food is of the highest standard & the wait staff actually take a real interest in you They gave us congratulations chocolates for being on our honeymoon My husband & I would so highly recommend Wrest Point & can't wait to go back!!!
This is our second stay here and it was absolutely brilliant, yet again! The OUTSTANDING employee, who went over and above, with exceptional customer service, was Porter, David (Dave); his attentions to detail, professionalism and making us feel very welcomed to Wrest Point, made us feel a million dollars! Thank you, we will be back 😊
Certainly not what it used to be! This property was a premier location in not only Tasmania but all of Australia at one time. Something very special. I remember visiting often with my parents in the late 70's and it was a very special, high quality establishment. Its now quite sad. Little more than a glorified Taberet. Tacky and cheap with a focus on gaming and cheap food. You would think with the location and history of this property it would be updated and given the respect it deserved. The rooms have great views but are very dated. I felt like I was in a Best Western. The walls are paper thin (I could hear a conversation going on for hours next door). There is a dark and dingy feel in the halls that is unpleasant when arriving at night. It just felt seedy. The hotel staff were very average I hate to say. Some training is really needed. On arrival it was very much focused on the check in process with no pleasantries from the person checking in. On check out we were not even asked the most basic question from hospitality training 101: "How was your stay?" We were attending an family event in the Revolving Restaurant and High Tea was booked. We got in the lift to go up 3 minutes early and the lift wouldn't go up there and we were left standing in the lift with the doors closed. We returned to the concierge desk and asked how to get to the top floor and the woman looked at me and said in a curt manor "Why do you want to go up there?". We were then informed (like I should have known all along) that the lift does not become unlocked for that floor until right on opening time. Not pleasant service at all (and put up a sign that if you are having high tea that the lift won't go to the revolving level util exactly opening time). The only saving grace for the hotel was the staff in Food and Beverage. The Pier One Restaurant staff were polite, friendly accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The Staff at the point were lovely too and did a great job. I visit Hobart often for work and family and will not be returning here until a major change is made in direction, decor and in attitude at this establishment.
First time in Tasmania I was looking for a room with a view close to the Harbour. This hotel did not disappoint. Got a nice view over Mt Wellington from the 9th floor. The hotel might be up for some renovations, but the rooms are spacious, clean and quiet with good service around the clock. Location is good with just a 20 minutes walk to Salamanca and CBD.
We have stayed at wrest point before. The hotel is in need of a renovation, however with that said we enjoyed our stay, our accomodation was in a premier suite. Good sized room with great views of the Derwent. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was apart of the rate, I would rate it a 4/10 the hotel could do much better. On the up side it was convenient for us to eat there. Would we stay again, yes. The hotel has a feeling of an old comfortable shoe, it just feels right.
We stayed here for 3 nights in a Waters Edge room and found the bed very comfortable, (which is what put this to a 4) the cleaning standard good, and the view lovely. The soundproofing between rooms needs upgrading though. Unfortunately we could hear everything being said by the guy in the next room.
Stayed at Wrest Point for our last night in Tasmania and was surprised by receiving an amazing upgrade to an extremely spacious suite overlooking the water. It was a truly memorable night with a stunning sunset. In fact the room was so good, we didn't even go to a restaurant which was the original intention, had room service instead. The food was great. The service was wonderful and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms have an elegant older styling about them but with all the mod cons. Just a wonderful experience all round.
