Good, enjoyable place although a little confusing to new comers, had a very good time, great views, great location and parking plentiful and easy. tip, make your reviews less minium characters, then people will complete
We were warmly welcomed, check in was no hassle. Our room was one of the newly refurbished rooms on the 16th floor with great views of Hobart. We were able to see cruise ships coming in to dock, and the Roaring 40s Kayaks on the river. Which made us try out a kayaking tour of Hobart, which was a great experience.
We were both very disappointed in this room at wrest point motel, it was nothing like the online pics and definitely the least enjoyable place we stayed during our 10 nights in Tassie at a variety of places. Though very close to the Casino, it was accessed down a narrow flight of steep stairs (no elevator) and being well below ground level, facing out on a concrete retaining wall, it was dark and claustrophobic. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom to remove steam and smells; the double bed we expected was two singles pushed together (that parted during the night!); the carpark was at the far end of the long corridor upstairs. This is an old motel and certainly not suitable for the elderly, disabled or families.
Great views, spacious rooom. A stroll to the centre, cab ride back. Great breakfast. Very comfortable beds but curtain remote controls challenging (all open or all closed, no other option). Don't bother trying to watch a movie (channels 101 and 102), no guidance and poor quality. Possibly Foxtel is better, haven't tried.
I wish I was writing a more positive review... but a weekend away started off badly... We visited Hobart for a wedding and choose Wrest Point because it looked like great value and quite a nice hotel... we arrived 30min before check in but our room wasn’t ready... no worries... however our bags were with the concierge and we didn’t realise there’s a dress code in the hotel- no things and no board shorts... we had just got off a plane from a very warm Sydney and weren’t planning on spending the rest of the day in our comfy ‘flying’ clothes... so we were given a few disapproving looks as we quietly sat waiting for our room... not a great feeling. And hour later we tried our luck but the room still wasn’t ready and eventually 2 hours after we arrived we were finally given a key and rushed to the room to get changed into something “more appropriate”... (we are not untidy or unclean people...!) no apology was given for the delay. The staff at the front desk were lovely- and you could see they were getting grief from other check ins as well... but I would question the management of the check in/outs... I have worked in this industry so Im not being unreasonable! A lot of money was spent to stay there, and considering people have chosen that as there weekend/holiday/business accommodation choice... make them feel a little valued! The hotel is very dated and smells of cabbage... that sounds petty but it really does! And the whole feeling of it is a bit like a cruise ship (not the luxury kind...). It does have a really nice location over looking the water... and due to the casino it is lively at all hours. The atmosphere just wasn’t very friendly (even when we were dressed as to the code!). The room needed some sprucing up- again very dated appearance and the carpet was a horrible green... other than that it’s ok if you are not going to spend much time in the room. Lovely walk through Battery Point to Salamanca (about 30min) or an ubar/taxi coat $8-$10.
Lovely location, made to feel very welcomed. Dinner in the revolving to celebrate my Birthday with family and friends was very special and could not be faulted. The view was magnificent, look forward to a return visit
I love going to Wrest Point. The location, the views, the service and choices of dining options outstanding. Must be one of the best spots in the world. I go for a couple of days nearly every month and am looking forward to the next trip. Winter or summer makes no difference.
Our room was directly located below a compressor that intermittently came on every 10 minutes throughout the night, making noise and sending vibrations down the wall that the bedhead was attached to. We were relocated to another room at 2am and offered a late checkout.
Would recommend Wrest Point to anyone as an anniversary or long overdue bonding surprise or for just a catch-up with friends. We loved the comfortable bed, view and fantastic helpful front desk staff.
First time to Tasmania & decided to make Hobart the base for day tripping Mum & I around in a rental car. From the moment we arrived, staff made us feel welcome, and throughout our stay were courteous, friendly & always helpful . We were upgraded from a Water Edge king room to a beautiful Suite in the Tower on the 5th floor. We had dinner each night in either the Pier One restaurant or Riverview Snacks - value for money good food 👌🏾 Free wifi, free Parking and close to everything. Definitely would return 😀
