Whilst our accommodation was clean and service was great, I really thought that we would be accommodated in the Tower and not the very old and tired rooms in the hotel section out the back. So from that point of view would definitely ring first before I book in future to confirm where the rooms are. The breakfast prices were extremely high - not sure of the quality as we went out each day for breakfast to other venues.
In cricketing terms Wrest Point is a great allrounder. The accommodation is very good with beautiful views and there are nice restaurants to enjoy and the staff are efficient and friendly. The housekeeping is first class with our suite being kept spotless everyday. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a lot of choice and is well presented. The Pier restaurant is top class and we also enjoyed The Loft which is closing to be replaced by a new restaurant which will present Asian cuisine. Wrest Point is also great value for money and has special deals from time to time.
In the older part but quiet, clean and well serviced. Amenities very good and entertainment brilliant. Free newspaper and wifi very much appreciated. A god special offer too though unsure why Monday more expensive than the other six days.
The location of the Wrest Point is stunning and worth visiting for that eason alone. We had a suite on the fifth floor of the tower building and it mas fantastic. Ultra comfortable king bed, separate dining sitting room and excellent bathroom. All this and the views over the river to die for. The staff were brilliant, polite, cheerful and always helpful. Then it all starts to go down hill a bit. There are a succesion of eating options in house, unfortunately the quality of the food in no way matched the quality of the accommodation and staff. Pity, but there you go I suppose, after all it is a casino and the punters probably only want a place to rest their heads after donating their hard earned cash to machines and food is probably not a top consideration.
Nice rooms and good value for money. The breakfast buffet was good value and nice to. We also enjoyed the views from the rooms and at the breakfast table. A few downsides were the room service. Do not order!! $10 for fries and main are exp to and they are terrible. They could use a few more machines in the casino to. They have no more than your average pub. Anyway good room service is rare and gambling is bad so I will give it a 4 star.
We were in Hobart last weekend for Dark Mofo and stayed at Wrest Point. This was not our first time, were really impressed the last time we stayed here so we decided to stay again. We were not disappointed, the location was central we could walk to the city through Battery Point. Bed was amazing, hotel was clean, staff were nice. Well done Wrest Point, keep it up!
Stayed 2 nights 10th and 11th June. Room was excellent, front desk and car valet service excellent. We ordered in room meal service of breakfast for one morning and tea both nights and the food was excellent. It was hot and quick and meals were large and tasty. A great place to stay.
We stayed our last night in Hobart after traveling around Tasmania. The final night finished off a perfect holiday. Our room overlooked the sea-just perfect views at night and in the morning. Fully recommend the motel for a special night. Had a buffet dinner at the restaurant which was top quality.
This property has walk in showers in some rooms and also has full wide access rooms for wheelchair access but it is not noted on any of the search engines I used. It's also not included in their own website information. We were able to discern this and book directly by calling the property. The room in the tower had a city and water view which was delightful, even on a gloomy day. The room was neat and clean and roomy. Although a little outdated, the furnishings were of a good quality. The aircon/heating had a fan, which we turned off and enabled us to sleep in peace. I hate noisy heating and ventilation systems... so Wrest point gets a tick in this department. Service was good especially luggage services. The only negative was that at check-in, the staff did not advise us to book for breakfast, which was included in our room rate, and upon arriving for brekkie the next morning, we had to wait. A table was found within 10 mins. The buffet is not fantastic, the atmosphere and food reminding me of similar fashionable buffets of the 70's and 80's. No alternative milk choices is a dead give away for poor choices, and the coffee and tea is mediocre to put it nicely. We dined the night before in Pier One, and this was a highlight of our stay. Great service, menu and value for money. The Riverview snack bar open later into the evening was a real letdown. Reheated food and single serves of pre-cut cake, canned whipped cream. Groan. Don't eat in these if you like your food 'real'.
First time in Hobart, and not sure where to stay. Couldn't have chosen a better place. The room was a bit tired and old fashioned but fairly clean after the floor was vacuumed, It was very comfortable and had a great view. Loved every minute with the very friendly and accommodating staff. It was really like stepping back in time, nothing but good things to say.
