About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Mt Getaway w/Spectacular Views, Hot Tub, Fire Pit, 10 acres, 4 miles to Cashiers

A serene mountain getaway awaits you at High Ridge Haven - a newly renovated home that sleeps up to 7 guests on 10 private acres with stunning views of Whiteside Mountain. Our unique property is set on a ridge that takes advantage of mountain views from both sides of the home from large windows and wrap-around decks. While the location feels delightfully off the grid, it’s located just four miles from the Cashiers Crossroads and 10 miles to the bustling town of Highlands.

The setting is breathtaking the moment you drive down the gently winding driveway lined with towering trees and rhododendron bushes. Inside on the first floor are three well-appointed bedrooms - all with sliding glass doors to a balcony with comfortable chairs to view the mountains and forest. First bedroom has a king bed and ensuite bathroom. Middle bedroom is a queen room, and the third bedroom also has a king bed. Second full bath is located in the hallway, along with the laundry room. An additional fold-away twin bed is available. Pack and play and high chair for a baby.

Up the stairs, you’ll find the spacious kitchen, family, and dining area - highlighted by soaring ceilings with wood beams and modern floor to ceiling windows. The chalet-style space is the perfect place to relax with family and friends, whether eating a home-cooked meal, unwinding on the decks after a day of outdoor activities, relaxing in the hot tub while viewing Whiteside Mt, or playing board games at the large table.

Some amenities we offer:

- Coffee bar equipped with regular drip coffee maker, Keurig, and French Press, burr coffee grinder, along with starter pods, sugar, creamer, tea, and hot chocolate to help you get your day started.

- Fully equipped kitchen with spices, oils, and all new appliances, pans, and utensils.

- Decks surround most of the home to take in the magnificent views, including an observation area with Mark 2 binoculars to see up close the cliffs of Whiteside Mountain - the highest perpendicular bare rock face east of the Rocky Mountains.

- Firepit with six Adirondack chairs.

- Game lawn perfect for Corn Hole or Bocce Ball or other lawn games.

- Hot tub on lovely patio with views of mountains.

- Beautiful landscaping with lovely plants and flowers.

- The Turkey Den - a small kid or teen space with deck, kind of like a she-shed.

- New "treehouse" deck on hillside to view mountains - makes you feel like you're in the trees and part of nature.

- Board games, puzzles, and books for kids and adults.

-Electric fireplace in living area.

- Plenty of seating on each deck and patio space to enjoy the views and mountain air!

- We are dog friendly for up to two house-broken 50-lb dogs with prior approval (see requirements below), and the property is a great place for your four-legged canines to explore with supervision.

- The location - unbeatable privacy and views. We are off the beaten path but just a 7-minute drive to the shops and restaurants of Cashiers and about a 20-minute drive to Highlands.

- Full Generator that can be turned on if power goes out!

In addition, Sliding Rock is just a mile away - this is a fun waterfall/swimming hole where kids and adults can slide down the rocks and cool off during the summer.

Whether it’s hiking, fishing, golfing, skiing, biking, or swimming, the area is full of year-round outdoor activities. Or browse through unique shops, sample the many fine restaurants, go gem stone mining, horseback riding, take in a free concert during the summer, or visit during one of the many festivals.

When you rent our homes, we provide lots of insider info, including suggestions of places to visit/tour, restaurants we recommend, and local tips. (If you're looking for a unique seaside getaway for a large group (sleeps 16), please check out our beach home in Navarre, FL on the Santa Rosa Sound: The Seahorse Retreat #164976 with its own private, heated pool with killer views, dock, hot tub, beach, and more).

If you are interested in booking our home, High Ridge Haven, for your vacation, please tell us a little about yourself, your rental party, and the reason for your visit.

Some things to note:

We have both Starlink and Verizon WIFI providing high-speed Internet at High Ridge Haven. Keep in mind the home is in the mountains so it is possible to experience a momentary hiccup, but you may not experience any issues at all. Additionally, you can go into the town of Cashiers (4 miles away)- the local library or Buck’s Coffee provides good internet. Verizon offers the best cell service. If you are with another carrier, you can connect via WiFi to get calls or text messages.

We provide great directions, but those who are not used to driving in the mountains should be aware of curving, sometimes steep roads. The access to our home is fairly easy but would require a four-wheel or all-wheel drive during winter weather.

The unique setting of this home - on top of a ridge in the mountains - means that other creatures make their home here, so we ask that you embrace nature. This area is known as a temperate rainforest. While there aren’t many mosquitos, there are other flying insects as well as spiders, birds, squirrels, raccoons, deer, and the occasional bear.

Dog policy (also on rental agreement):

Two house-broken and well-trained dogs of up to 50 pounds and two years of age are allowed with prior approval by owner. Puppies are not allowed. No other animals are allowed. Failure to get prior approval of a dog may result in termination of rental, immediate eviction, and forfeiture of security deposit. There is a non-refundable fee of $125 per dog. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations and crated if left alone in home. Dog waste must be picked up and disposed prior to departure. Any damage will be deducted from security deposit.
The vacation home is air-conditioned and features a kitchen, 2.5 bathrooms, and a balcony, and there's space to spread out with 3 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a fireplace, and a coffee maker.

Peaceful Getaway in the Mountains

Our overall stay was great. The house was exactly as described in the listing. If you want a peaceful, serene surrounding with really no one else around, this is the house for you. Beautiful location in what feels like the middle of a mountain. Across in the distance to one side you see the side of Whiteside Mountain and to the other side of the property you’re overlooking tree tops and rooftops in the distance. There really weren’t any sounds other than hearing the birds chirp and echo throughout the tree lines. And an occasional woodpecker was a highlight to nature’s Symphony while sitting outside. We spent several evenings outside in the hot tub overlooking Whiteside Mountain, and enjoyed many of the outdoor games that the owners provided. Plenty of board games and activities, including books, on the inside of the house as well. The house had all the amenities we needed for our trip, and were exactly as described in the listing. The owners were extremely communicative, and we appreciate the thoroughness of the details shared with us prior to our trip so that we knew exactly what we were getting into upon arrival. The house is located centrally between Highlands and Cashier’s, although I would suggest it’s a little quicker of a trip into Cashier’s (10-15 min) versus Highlands (15-20 min). We would recommend this house to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in the mountains and in close proximity to the Highlands and Cashier’s area. Thank you!

AMAZING Home, Views and Property

This house, the views and the surrounding property are absolutely beautiful. I just can't say enough about it. Our favorite part was that there are so many outdoor areas and there are views from every angle. The house is VERY comfortable and has everything you need for your stay. It is secluded but not a far drive to Cashier's and Highlands. Elizabeth is the ultimate host. She was always available to help us and answer any questions. She provided detailed information the the house, hikes (yes, do them!) restaurants, shopping and more. She even leaves snacks and smores for your arrival and stay. There are trails on the property which were great for short walks...even the driveway is a trail! If you have children, the play house is an extra treat. We will definitely go back if we have the opportunity. Book it!

Beautiful Mountain View

This house had breathtaking mountain views from the front and rear of the house. There is a floor mounted post with binoculars on the front deck facing Whiteside Mountain. The landscape lighting was so nice while we were sitting around the fire pit. Great hideaway!!

Amazing Luxury Mountain House!

This was probably my favorite VRBO property yet! I was blown away with the mountain views, the wonderful amenities throughout, and just how cool and unique this spot was! Going down the long windy driveway felt like entering a fairy tale. We stayed here in October and the foliage really transformed the entire landscape into another world. Such a cool and special spot and I already can't wait to get back!

Wonderful stay in the Mountains

We stayed a week at High Haven and had a wonderful time! House was very clean, well cared for, scenic view of Whiteside Mountain was so relaxing, just as described. Loved the convenience to all 3 areas, Cashiers, Sapphire, and Highlands and only a few minutes into Cashiers. Hiking Whiteside Mountain and Panthertown with our dog were the highlights although many small waterfalls close by were also great. Our grandaughter loved the little house on the trail, she could have spent all day there! Owners were also very accomodating afterward we returned home to help look for a left behind item. Would definitely stay here again!

Perfect family trip

My husband and I, along with our son, both daughters and our sons in law thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this amazing property! The home was perfect for a private and fun break. It afforded us a beautiful location to enjoy each others company with lots of outdoor activities and close proximity to hiking trails, parks and both the lovely towns of Cashiers and Highlands. We enjoyed a fly fishing excursion nearby and spent a lot of time at the house with the beautiful views and landscape. We brought two dogs with us and appreciated the dog friendly option; it was a great place to bring them as many locations were dog friendly. We hope to come back again and revisit the places we visited and continue to explore this beautiful area of North Carolina. Our hosts were wonderful and we highly recommend this fantastic home!

When I tell you, this place is incredible that does not even come close to describing how peaceful and remote. This place is gorgeous Whiteside Mountain on one side and another beautiful mountain on the other side, perched on a hilltop with literally no one, but you only a few short miles from town. The photos don’t come close to how amazing this place is!!

Amazing Week!

Part of me hates to give a great review because it will surely make it harder for me to book again with Elizabeth, but I cannot say one bad thing. I spent a week at their cabin with sisters & nephews coming and going as they had time to get away, and it was perfect. So many great, easy hikes close by for the young ones, and very convenient to both Cashiers and Highlands. Be careful if GPS takes you through Highlands to Horse Cove Road to go to the cabid though. I loved the drive, but it's not as easy as the Highlands to Cashiers to the home route. The home, the little trails on the property, the cabin for the kids, the 270 degree views, and the hot tub were awesome. I have been to pet friendly places in the past with noticable sings of pet hair and residue, but this cabin was immaculate. If not for the little bin of dog toys, I would have never had a clue. Their connectivity with satTV and VerizonMiFi made work and a couple rainy days great. I cannot speak to other cell providers, but Verizon was great the entire time. We spent most of our shopping/eating time in Cashiers. The brewery for lunch and The Slab for dinner were great. Also, Cashiers might have the nicest Ingles I've ever been to. We will definitely be back if the rest of y'all don't book it solid!
