First, the good: The front desk staff at both check-in and check-out (same clerk, but with two additional staff members at check-out) were among the friendliest I've encountered. They deserve to be working in a better place than this. Now, the bad... I immediately wondered about this place when I saw the professionally printed “No Photography” and “No Filming” signs at the entrance. Had I not already committed payment, I wouldn't have stayed! Another “bad sign” on check-in was that the professionally printed "Pool Closed for Maintenance” sign looked permanent, being framed and mounted on the wall behind the front desk with the Health Department license, and other signs... Including their refund policy on weekly and monthly rates. Seeing this usually indicates a place that caters to transients. My room first appeared to be relatively clean. After I closed the door, I noticed the flashing “message waiting” LED on the phone. So, I called the front desk. Nope, no messages. It flashed my entire time there. The sleep quality of the two double beds was not up to the usual level of Choice Hotels or even the promised quality on the website. The desk clerk came to my rescue when I had trouble logging on to the Wi-Fi. Because of the increasing creepiness of the parking lot, I decided to go out for supper and return before sunset. I will have to admit that the room was indeed quiet at times. Despite the presence of an HDTV in the room, TV reception was strictly standard definition. More about the room in the next section... Now, the ugly... Pity not all of my photos came out. Thus, you are spared the images of a washing machine underneath an outdoor stairway... and, of the empty swimming pool where it's apparent that no work is being done on it, nor has been done on it in the recent past. However, the first photo is of an unknown structure in the area of the parking lot. Perhaps it once held a billboard from an earlier era for this location... maybe fifty or so years ago. The next two photos I took in my room. The first is the ceiling light in the bathroom. It looks like something got trapped and died in there. A mouse, perhaps? The next photo is of an outlet strip under the desk that is being used to feed power to a refrigerator, microwave, TV, and a desk lamp. The desk lamp didn't work. The next three photos are of the restaurant.entrance. Pity the photo thru the window of the chairs on the tables didn't come out. It was obvious that the chairs had been like that for some time. As with the swimming pool sign, the signs on the restaurant made no mention of re-opening. Now, the UGLIER! I was told by the reservation agent over the phone that this hotel had four stars. After committing to a night and prepaying, I found it was three and a fraction stars. Derspite the promises over the phone on on the webpage, there was nothing special about the shower, the flat-screen TV was standard def, and there was a coffee maker, desk and hair dryer which were all pretty standard. The bed wasn’t anywhere the quality promised on the website -The blanket was thin and the mattress definitely was not premium. Summary: After this stay on Memorial Day Monday, I wonder about the corporate and government inspections that this place would have to pass to keep the corporate branding as well as stay in business. Also, does the franchisor actually verify the licensee claims on their website? If given the choice between sleeping in your car overnight at a rest area or staying here, you'll probably be much more comfortable and probably safer in your car! Finally, this part of Henderson makes Chicago's South Side look like Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. It is a collection of abandoned businesses of seemingly all types -including an abandoned motel across the street which looks like its been taken over by homeless people. There are more abandoned businesses around here than operating ones. For food, your nearby choices are strictly limited to an ice cream stand next to the “Scottish Inns” next door and a nearby Burger King. In other words… Stay Away!
Where do I begin? With the the dirty room or lack of towels or the unprofessional staff? The room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in at least a week (plus broken toilet paper holder & mouse hole in the floor). There were only 2 towels; so if we wanted to shower upon arrival & the next day, we couldn't. We complained to the staff, who were not empathetic at all. When they brought towels, the person had a cell phone sitting on top (unsanitary). None of the workers were dressed to distinguish them from hotel guests. We didn't get the room we had reserved; we reserved king but got a double. The hotel was not full! UGH!!! Don't stay there if you like sanitary conditions.
No ice - pool ng - bathroom light failed to go on had to have maintenance. Dirty hand prints on walls and light switches....No refrigerator.....bed side table looked like it came from a junkyard...rust in tub....moisture under glass on desk....wi-fi stated no internet connection. Paid in advance by 5 weeks for a King and upon arrival told all they had was a double. It was almost 6pm and would never find another place too stay -plus there was no cancellation
The location just off 85 was good and we stopped last year but this time the quality was extremely poor. Musty room only one hand towel two. Bath and wash cloths. Hairdryer was cracked but worked, i was afraid to use it. Remote for TV was cracked with no back and batteries taped in place. No tissues in the room. Room was rather shabby. Bare feet and slipper bottoms were black from the carpet. There are other hotels in the area. No quality in this quality inn.
The room did not have an alarm clock, took me three phone calls to get one after threatening to write this review. The wifi was down and never did come up. The TV got only one station, CSPAN. The carpet was dirty, the shower was dirty and the walls were dirty. The lady who checked me in was pleasant but the man who answered my phone calls regarding the wifi and alarm clock was a jerk.
Drive further into Henderson to seek other hotels, and do not look back! The housekeepers were cool. Only fault, is they arrive to work at 11:00am (redundant) . By that time, you are dressed and ready to go for the day. Front desk, Christina was the only pleasant official. The out door pool! Broken fence (not safe for children), all kinds of bugs floating on top of the water, and mildew on the inside pool walls! Room doors have no latch, just broken hinges, (unsecure your room). Continental Breakfast!! Really! Stale pastries, day old smelly apple and orange juice, and one good waffle maker). Room keys do not work after you exit. Towels are stained (no matter how much bleach they used, if they did). Bathtubs has permanent stains, (take shower with swim slippers on) The manager called the police on our party while we were departing for NO reason (they received their pay and we were not a threat). I can go on, I will just end this review with...... STAY AWAY FROM THIS BATES MOTEL. Please FDM do not comment on my review. It is my choice and right to comment and to tell the world BEWARE.
had to go get help from chastity twice. cable wires, tv and such. shower had window in curtain that leaked terribly. on the plus side it was quiet and cool. motel has 60's feel. owners were very nice.
The front desk worker Peggy was very kind and helpful. She was very patient and considerate. Her appearance was clean and profession and I would come back again just to be able to have that kind of customer service again.
We checked in and key would not open room door. Second room tv did not work, desk clerk said he would come look at it, but never did. The toilet seat was not clean, baseboards were falling off the walls, door had a wide gap and was hard to close. Breakfast was from 7-10 but there was nothing out but white bread and bagels, OJ and milk. We didn't even want to take shower.
We booked a block of rooms for a family event. We were completely disappointed at the condition of the rooms and the service we received. Guest encountered everything from dirty sheets to bed bug bites. The bathrooms wreaked of urine and our guests had to go to the local Walmart and purchase new sheets and roach spray. The only reason we stayed was because it was in the middle of a Hurricane Matthew and we had been on the road for 12 hours. I will never use this hotel again.
