Haus in the Heart of Helen-1 min walk to downtown
Our property is a two unit cabin, this listing is for the UPPER UNIT which has its own private entrance and deck and there is not a shared space inside. Think of a 2 unit condo with separate entries on nearly half an acre of private wooded land. You can rent both units for large groups or families to sleep a total of 8 people so just ask!
The Haus in the Heart of Helen sits just off downtown Main Street and the Chattahoochee River. There is no rental home closer to downtown Helen than our place!!! It is the perfect mix of less than a 60 second walk to all the action right in the epicenter of Downtown Helen yet you are set back just enough for some peace and quiet and to enjoy the lovely views and nature from our multiple elevated decks. Note if you are a very light sleeper you may wish to bring ear plugs as you can hear some hustle and bustle from town on the weekends at certain times of the year. We provide a floor fan for some white noise as well. Most people are not bothered by this, but we feel it is important to let you know. The Georgia Mountain Coaster is the latest and greatest attraction to Helen and is a 2 minute walk from our property. Not having to drive into town is a huge plus because of the traffic, pricey and crowded parking issues and of course not worrying about getting behind the wheel after drinking a few of those famous German lagers and stouts. Renting a place in Helen where no car is needed is a HUGE PLUS for most people!!!
We charge a low $80 cleaning fee and have no other host fees so you have no surprises when you go to pay when booking. We offer 10% off for weekly rentals and 15% off for monthly rentals. There are some stairs from the driveway leading to the cabin entrance. We cannot allow any pets, service or therapy animals due to severe pet allergies of other guests. We also send out an awesome trip planner document with tips on really cool stuff most tourists do not know about and tons of other helpful information. Most guests find it extremely valuable for a better than expected stay in Helen.
THE SPACE;
The air conditioned/heated two-level cabin is 1856 square feet under air and has three separate exterior decks both covered and open offering over 2700 square feet in total of living space. The upper unit is bright and open and over 1100 sq ft in size. The home sits on just under a half-acre with a large private driveway for free, secure parking. The upper level also has its own separate entry with one very large bedroom, a huge full bath, large free standing Jacuzzi tub, full kitchen, kitchen table and chairs and a huge great room that is open to the kitchen. The upper unit has a great deck space and elevated balcony also. It is beautifully done, open concept, bright and airy with tons of windows with nice views. You will find it to be furnished for a very comfy stay with everything you need such as; bedding, towels, linens, extensive kitchen items, two TVs equipped with Roku along with a specific Netflix account for our renters, Wi-Fi, deck furniture and some board games for those occasional rainy days. You can rent both units for large groups or families and that will sleep a total of 8 people so just ask! Again, this listing is for the upper unit which sleeps 4 people. It has a king bed with lovely wooden post bed frame and a queen size blow up mattress with pump for the floor.
THE DÉCOR AND VIEWS AND PARKING;
Without hesitation we can tell you our cabin is stunningly beautiful with outstanding décor and conceptual design throughout. The great room is wide open and gorgeous with beautiful wood craftsmanship and décor along with gleaming hardwood floors with custom design work. The ceilings are vaulted with sky lights giving it a bigger feel than the actual size. It is true Bavarian style ski chalet from the outside and an extraordinary updated cabin filled with charm and character on the inside. You can hear and see the river from our property. The expansive downtown views are excellent year round, but when the leaves drop the elevated views of downtown Helen below our property are amazing. There is one vehicle allowed per rental, not per guest. Also note no RV's or trailers due to our steep driveway entrance. Any normal car, SUV or truck will work fine.
NO SMOKING/ VAPING / DRUGS / PARTYING / LOUD BEHAVIOR OR MUSIC;
Nothing against smokers or partyers, but none of that is ever allowed in our place or outside on our property. Helen is a both a party town and a family town and we cater to families and couples looking to Relax N Unwind. Sure have a few drinks, but going overboard is not cool with us. If you are the party group please pick another place to stay and there are plenty that do not mind that type of fun in town. PLEASE respect this or you will be asked to leave the property without a refund and/or charged extra fees for clean-up, smoke removal, etc.
THE TOWN OF HELEN;
If you have never been to Helen before you are in for a treat. It is a Bavarian style town with great beer halls and bars, restaurants, shopping, nature oriented adventures and a ton of family fun activities. By law all architecture must be Bavarian in style, even the fast food joints! In addition, if you want to explore the surrounding areas the natural wonders are incredible for hiking, waterfalls, kayaking, swimming, fishing, golfing, vineyards, etc. During the summer, people tube right down the river in front of our cabin. There are large lakes with public beach access close by and many festivals throughout the year. Helen is the 3rd most visited town in Georgia despite having only 500 full time residents.
IN SUMMARY;
Without a doubt you will not find a better location or a cuter place than ours, all at an affordable rate compared to those standard run of the mill hotels. We also send out a fantastic 10 page trip planner document to all of our guests covering everything from check in procedures and directions to the best restaurants and beer halls and surrounding adventure stuff to do, plus lots more.
We have a rental contract that needs to be signed and returned to us prior to your arrival. If you have any questions about that you can ask prior to your booking. It is pretty standard stuff such as, no parties, no pets, no smoking, keep the house clean and orderly, do your own dishes etc. Very rarely do we have any concerns from our guests in regards to the rental contract.
***Please note we do not accept any pets, emotional, support or therapy animals due to the potential for other guests that may have extreme allergies or health related issues.
Thank you for considering renting from us!!!
The vacation home is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and a balcony, and there's space to spread out with a separate bedroom and a dining area. Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. The bathroom offers a jetted tub and hair dryers. Everything associated with the accommodations were excellent. For at least Friday and Saturday nights you do need some white noise as the music plays loudly until 1:00am from the tavern below. We understood that being within walking distance of everything could mean some road noise or music.

The house was very comfortable but could have used a deep cleaning. There was a lot of dust and a mold smell. There were also several bee carcasses. The wood walls and ceilings were beautiful and the furniture looked expensive and lovely.
