Great hotel right by the river, with modern well equipped rooms and pleasant outside spaces. Good breakfast with variety of foods on offer. A great base from which to explore the Rstonica Valley, Corte and the nearby Tivaninu Valley. I would certainly go there again.
The hotel is situated in a park and on the river bank, so wonderful in hot weather. The rooms .are big and comfortable. But the Landlord is very unpleasant and mean Several electricity failures during our stay. Reaching any floor from the desk or restaurant can be quite complicated
Stayed here for a week. The hotel (built by the owner ) is in an ideal location in the mountains -walks of various lengths & levels nearby. We found it very peaceful with the smell of mountain air in the morning & the river running by -when you live in a city you appreciate this. The rooms were spacious & beds comfortable. Our shower was of the hand-held variety but the other room had a rainfall shower * perhaps a shower screen or curtain might be useful to stop the bathroom floor getting wet ?. The staff were friendly. Breakfast is extra but adequate with couple of hot food items and usual array of tempting breads, fresh fruit ,yogurts etc. There is no evening meal available but plenty of restaurants in nearby Corte (we walked in twice) & also visited the Auberge next door one evening. A most enjoyable stay.
Had a wonderful stay at this perfectly situated hotel. As always, your experience also with this hotel will depend on what you are looking for. I travelled to Corte to visit the Restonica river and this hotel brings you as close to it as it gets without having to camp outside. When you open the window (and have a room towards the river or the pool) you have the sound of sitting next to the river. If the weather permits, you can have breakfast on the terrace next to the river. The hotel garden follows the river for a bit, with plenty places to rest. At the end of the garden you can step onto the rocks and could swim in a swimming hole if you cared. That is all you need to know (if you come for the river). A couple of additional details for other people. The hotel is clean, well managed and in good shape. The interior is modern with stones and tiles that fit well into the rocky environment. It has a nice (southern french (?), with useful shutters) look to it from the outside. This is not a sweeping grand hotel or resort, rather a convenient, wellkept, matter-of-fact place to stay at night. Nevertheless, it offers a nice pool, nice seating areas in the garden, a very good french breakfast (good pastries, wide selection of spreads, local cheese and ham; no reason to venture anywhere else for breakfast; but don't expect extraordinary things on the hot breakfast food side). The staff was helpful and available, maybe not overly cheerful (end-of-season-fatigue or just their style?). The hotel is located next to and below the road from Corte further into the Restonica valley. This is convenient both for trips both into the valley and to Corte. Parking is possible down at the hotel (limited, check before you drive down) and up alongside the street; the hotel has an entrence both at street and at river level. I did not hear any noises from the street, the river is loader and there are hardly any cars at night. I spent a few days exploring different parts of the river and also went into Corte several times for dinner; it's just a few minutes drive. The hotel does not offer meals except for breakfast. But this is not a problem, because you want to spend the day outside and there are many restaurants available Corte. I was always looking forward to returning to my hotel room. This hotel may well be a reason I travel to Corsica again.
The room was wonderful, with a fantastic view to the river. But the small rotating panel above the toilet smelled of sewage. We requested they put some tape over the edges of the panel, but instead a large amount of chemical deodorant was sprayed into the panel, rendering the room uninhabitable for many hours.
hautement recommandé The Hotel has a good start Point to explore the Island. The staff and the owner were friendly. The rooms were clean and very tidy. The Hotel lies in the midst of more wonderful Natur.
Rooms clean but very sparse and not comfortable. Reception staff gave no greeting just handed us the room key without even looking up and was later extremely rude to our friend when she asked for help with luggage after we were told we had to vacate room immediately although.we told them our husbands would return within 10 minutes and wed do it then. When our friend said she was ill and had a bad back the receptionist said so have I! WQe wanted to sit in reception in the evening after coming back from a meal out however the light was on a time switch and went out every 2 minutes making it impossible to relax! Breakfast looked very unappetizing and tired. We were really happy to leave!
The hotel is in the best spot on Restonica River with a wonderful swim hole you can jump right into on a hot day. Not as cold as you might think. It is also a very good value relative to the Colonna hotel next door. Breakfasts are German style buffet with delicious pastries, cheeses, sausages etc. The rooms are very clean and nice, especially if you are fortunate to get the river view and the sound of the Rapids. This site is so nice that I wish the hotel was designed to a more luxury standard when it was built some 20 years ago. The corridors are narrow and so are the bathrooms, mainly because of the bathtubs squeezed into a space that would have been better off with just a nice shower. It seems like the hotel was designed for easy maintenance rather than guest comfort and there are many impractical features such as doors opening the wrong way etc. The other shortcoming is that the place is run with minimal staff. The reception host is helping in the breakfast room and doing some maintenance, all at the same time. There is no one to maintain the garden. One day someone left the sprinkler system on for several hours which had the effect of wetting all the furniture, creating mud holes and keeping guests away. It's really a shame because with improved service and staffing plus perhaps a more sophisticated restaurant dinner menu the hotel could easily move up a notch in rankings and justify higher room rates.
Reached the hotel despite confusing signage in the gorgeous Restonica valley, and met by couple who manage front of house. They're an odd blend, but ultimately quite likeable and helpful. Rooms were great, although bathroom design was a bit compromised. Lovely terrace outside with views down to the adjacent river and rock pools. Only downside, no restaurant open in the evening we visited. Referred to nearby Auberge ('no booking necessary') but no tables were available so we were forced to use hotel snack restaurant for dinner that evening. Great charcuterie and wines saved the day.
We stayed for 3 nights in Hotel Jardins de la Glacière. The hotel is situated somewhat outside the city center of Corte. You can go by food, but I would not recommend it, since it can be a somewhat dangerous walk due to the traffic situation. Our room was nice and spacious. The bed was very big and sleep quality was excellent. The airco worked very well (always a plus). Wifi was good. The bathroom was beautiful, but it was a pity there was only a bath tub and no shower. Not ideal to freshen yourself up quickly. Breakfast was truly excellent. Choices were plenty: scrambles eggs, pastries, different kinds of bread, charcuterie Corse, cheese, home made yoghurt, cake, fresh fruit,.... My favorite was the outstanding chocolate cake. So very good! The swimming pool was rather small, but who needs a swimming pool when you have the beautiful Restonica river to swim in? Nothing more refreshing than cool, natural water. The fact that you have access from the garden to this beautiful place, was definitely an extra plus for me. You can't have dinner in this hotel, but a nearby hotel offers lunch and dinner so you can always go there if you don't want the hassle of going into the city center.
