Bring back the days when Hilton stood for quality!

We booked especially for a night as the booking information said we’d have full access to the spa facilities as a part of the stay. On arrival we were told that guests get a maximum 1 hour access which was incredibly disappointing given we were staying there to spend the afternoon relaxing in the spa. The hotel staff were very un accommodating and blaze, direct and unhelpful. It’s a shame because I remeber when Hilton hotels the service level was exceptional and quality always very high. Now, it is lacking in all these areas, outdated and old with zero interest in making guests feel welcome and relaxed.

Lovely but need to get lifts sorted.

Nice hotel, very busy with the Great Yorkshire Show. Only one of the lifts was working which meant very (very) long waits as it was tiny meaning only one couple at a time. We had a baby in a pram which meant the stairs was not an option.

While the property looks majestic on paper/online, the reality is that this property is too 'tired' to be a Hilton hotel. It is hurting the Hilton brand. It is just on the tipping point but is definitely not up to scratch. Our room had no air conditioning, no shaving plug in the bathroom and the TV was unable to access Netflix or Prime and could not allow us to 'cast' the streaming services to the TV. Great hotel if we were still in the 60s or 70s. Good hotel for a general or business stay where you get clean rooms and basic service. Bad hotel if it is under the Hilton banner. Suggestion: drop the Hilton name and rebrand as a good value-for-money business hotel. Possibly as a sister company to Hilton.

Not Family- Friendly

This hotel is not particularly family-friendly. Children are only allowed in the swimming pool from 7–9am and 5–7pm, and there are no other forms of entertainment available—no games room, playground, garden, or even a designated space for kids. Unfortunately, this isn’t made clear in the hotel’s description. We arrived after an exhausting 8-hour drive, looking forward to letting the children unwind in the pool, only to be told (at 7:05) they couldn’t use it. To add to the frustration, there’s a £5 charge per child for just two hours of pool access. If the hotel is aiming for a peaceful, adult-oriented experience, they should market it clearly as an adults-only retreat. Otherwise, they really ought to provide at least a basic games room with simple activities like ping-pong, puzzles, colouring books, Jenga, or a few arcade machines. It would make a world of difference for travelling families.

Old hotel in need of refurbishment. It was a warm weekend in Harrogate and given their wwas no air conditioning and the windows only partially open, the rooms were hot with no air flow. Very uncomfortable. Breakfast was also very average. Big old hotel in need of some money to be spent on it to get it to a better standard

An average stay! Shower was cold and did not get hot at all. Parking fee was ridiculous, why was this not included in the stay. Food was average and my milk was off and curdled in my tea at breakfast, Will not return.

Our family visited the property for one night. The room was spacious and clean. The only downside was that the building lacked air conditioning, and it was quite warm the night we stayed. There was also a lot of construction going on, which disrupted our ability to enjoy the grounds. The location is very convenient to the train station and downtown restaurants.

Great hotel

Great from check in till check out. Breakfast buffet was lovely. Work going on, so a bit difficult to park, but we found a space. Short walk into the town with lots of places to eat with 5/10 minutes walk. Would book again when visiting Harrogate

This property is a very old but beautiful hotel. Some sort of major project closed off all the beautiful aspects of the property. There is no AC, and it is summer. Fans and open windows helped some. The pool hours for children is limited and not welcoming or inclusive at all. Huge wedding happening, no ability to use spa. Elevator down. Just disappointing. Staff were friendly and working hard but the wedding seemed to take up a lot of time, space, precedence. Heat just makes you uncomfortable and grumpy on top of it.

Impressive building

The rooms were very dated and could do with modernising especially the windows where the latches were broken. Towels needed replacing as they either had holes in them or were stained but was addressed by reception straight away. Bathroom was clean and had a good shower. Breakfast amazing and the overlook look of the hotel inside downstairs was impressive. Unfortunately didn’t use the spa as it was closed due to a problem in the plant room which was a shame as we had booked that hotel because of it.

This is ann, ken's wife. A total disaster. Arrived to find a wedding had been going on for 3 days. We had to pass bunny girls from the wedding to get to lift. The noise was horrendous. I rang the hotel 2 days before we went to ask for a quiet table for our meal, this was arranged. However because of the wedding there was no such thing as a quiet table. The noise and flashing lights from the disco penetrated the restaurant. I have epilepsy, so you can imagine how difficult it was. This noise continued until 2am in the morning. Ken has Parkinson's and needs his sleep, consequently the following day was ruined as he was so tired. There were still wedding guests in the hotel drinking as much as the could and young children were running riot without any parental control. This stay had been to celebrate our 52nd wedding anniversary, instead of enjoying it I ended up crying. I complained and they offered 20% discount which is a drop in the ocean after the extras we ended up paying (service charge and vat on our meal for which we were only allowed £35 per person). I have also been told to contact yourselves about this.
