Located at the south of Songhua River is within a short drive to various Harbin attraction in the middle of of Songhua River - Harbin Ice & Snow World, Sun Island Park, Siberian Tiger Park, just to name a few
Quality & trusted brand hotel - Lobby concept was great but the results were horrible (not quality of shangrila) Room was OK, the mattress was a bit too soft Location was in the new area (clean), but a bit far from food and shopping
Property n rooms are a little rundown. Service is not on par with other Shangrila's and waitress does not even understand simple English for example room numbers. Coffee machine in breakfast area was down for two days in a row, the coffee cup I left on the machine the previous day was still sitting there the next, apparently due to an insufficient supply of the bean bag. Have to get mine from the machine behind the bar counter. The butter, magazine and honey served are stale n tasted weird. Disappointed.
This hotel was decent for a provincial Chinese city. It was clean, had wifi, was conveniently located and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The downsides is that it still allows smoking and the executive lounge floor is a smoking floor. I didn't specify a non-smoking room and the first night I thought I was sleeping in a chimney. I am not especially sensitive to smoking but the smell was overpowering and woke me up several times during the night. Also the western food options here are meh so you're better off sticking with Chinese food.
This hotel was really comfortable and friendly. I really liked the lounge/lobby area. There are two excellent restaurants on site. The main restaurant is really classy, with superb presentation of food and local culture. I recommend this hotel for anybody including business people and families. I look forward to returning here soon on my business travels. The hotel is situated along the river walk, which is highly recommended.
Don't stay here. The food is generally dire with little finesse, all Chinese, Japanese and Western options. The air-con is problematic at best in an industrial city where summer temperatures reach 40 and air quality is some of the worst in the world. It needs a new general manager, and properly-trained staff. The RMB950 rate is about double what this place is worth, three star at best. In spreading Shangs around China, the Kuoks dropped the ball in Harbin.
This hotel has a swimming pool, an health room, the dining service is perfect. The level of employees' english is also good, and the food they propose 24h a day is a great advantage. No doubt you can make your reservation here if you have to stay in harbin.
Just stayed four nights in Harbin Shangri-la. Very good location, next to Songhua River, and a few kilometers from Central Main Street. Walking along the Riverside on a sunny day itself is a great entertainment. We walked from the Central Main Street and saw people having singing shows, doing exercise dancing and enjoying themselves with all sorts of activities are just very interesting for us as tourist. If you stay at the riverside, the sunrise and the sunset from the window is just amazingly charming. The Hotel itself is a traditional Shangri-la with very similar outlets elsewhere. What really pleased us are the wonderful serving people from both management and frontline who never mean with their great smile, and tried their very best in helping us to enjoy the city. On our last night of our stay we asked the concierge to book a taxi for us to catch our early morning flight, without being asked, he arranged the packed breakfast for us the next morning. The service at the coffee shop is exceptionally well. Everyday we were served by Memory and she always knew what we need and has been extremely proactive and with a sweet smile. We were met by a few managers who were very eager to offer all sorts assistance to us. If we go back to Harbin again, no doubt there will be no choice except this one.
We were picked up at the airport by the pre-arranged hotel vehicle; the ride was smooth and the driver was courteous. Upon arrival we were greeted then ushered to the Horizon Level, which the female concierge apologized that they attempted to upgrade our room due to the confined space of the regular room and we told her it's okay, since we don't plan to spend too much time in the room. Our room has the river view and yes, it's bit of tiny in comparison with the rooms we had stayed, but we really doesn't mind. The room was well equipped and clean with a very comfortable king size bed. On the following morning, the floor mangers Mr. Jiao & Ms. Chou offered us a room upgrade, which we declined for not wanting repacking the luggage. However, we really appreciate the courteous offers and their genuine kindness. Throughout our stay, the staff were professional and courteous, which made our stay memorable in a very pleasant way. Further, the Horizon Lounge at this establishment has a very well trained staff, which I noticed and compliment the management. The middle aged bellhop at the entrance is a great asset to this hotel; he always acknowledged us with a smile and a small talk in regards to the satisfaction of our stay. We had great time at this fine establishment, although the room was tiny but the service is second to none. Our trip to China ended with a positive note due to the Shangri-LA's renowned services and we're not disappointed.
Feb 2016 After 1st week of CNY wasn't crowded. Be sure to give cell phone # to hotel for airport transfer driver to avoid delays at pick up. You'll pass over frozen river with various activities. Free water bottles in room, we called for more. No issues with room, view of river, attractive lobby/restaurant. Hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating, especially the mgr, Hanson. Concierge got us an semi-English speaking driver, Shen, and we stayed with him both days, just gave him pick up times. We visited Sun Island Park and Harbin Ice Festival 1st day, Tiger World and Ice Festival again 2nd day. Both places lots of walking and FANTASTIC. Driver waited in car for us. Hiring driver for half day each day took all anxiety away. Worth every penny and things here are cheap. He dropped us off right in front of attractions and even went in to handle tix purchases. At night he took us on tour of downtown. Amazing bldg on way to Ice Festival like 10-15 mins drive. The whole bldg has electronic shapes and colors all over it! Never seen anything like this. Concierge handled getting us flight tix to our next city. GREAT STAY!
