I stayed at The Shangrila for 1 night during Xmas season. Nice classy hotel , rooms were amazing. The bed was of world class standard comfort. Breakfast options were very good. The room was facing the river, great view.

Shangrila is definitely my first choice for business trip in harbin because of its great location. The staff in horizon club is very helpful. Liu haiping is very nice and always willing to help. Li Danyang is lovely and always smiling. Xinxin is always willing to share.
The hotel was in a great location and the service was excellent. They were able to accommodate our group of 7 very nicely. The suits were large with all the things we needed to be comfortable. We were able to use the upper lounge which was a great! All of the staff were very nice and friendly.
Accommodation, services, facilities and staff’s welcoming & kind attitude typical of the Shangri-La chain. The room was spacious and with complimentary amenities. Bathroom was designed with tub, very much appreciated after a day sightseeing the iced Harbin! Breakfast was good and both for Western and Asian palates. I tried the Western buffet restaurant at dinner. Food was good and the variety was satisfying, even though I have to say that most of the dishes were more for Asian diners than Western, but I guess this is due to the fact the hotel has got very few Western guests. Definitely the perfect hotel close to city centre and Ice & Snow Festival.
We stayed for 4 days during Chinese new Year and loved our stay there. The staff was very friendly and very helpful! The concierge, Bruce, was extremely pleasant and helpful in helping us organise our visits around the city and arranging the driver. The staff at front desk was very courteous and spoke good english. We did not know what to expect from Harbin with smaller kids and ended up having a amazing 4 days and the fact that the hotel was a very good place to stay helped tremendously.
Very comfortable. We have a room on 18 floor with view to river, great vie and at night we could see the Ice festival lights. . My concern was previous reviews that complain on smoking smells, but we didn't have any of this not in our room, not in our floor and not in the lobby. The breakfast was excellent with large western and Chinese food selection. The staff was great and helpful, they bring English speaking worker to address our questions. Location is good but it is not within walking distance to city center, so in the bitter winter of Harbin you cannot go down and have few minutes walk to pedestrian street.
My third trip to Harbin as I escort a tour group to Harbin every year. Always stay at the Shangri La Harbin. Staff are always attentive and happy to deal with, especially the concierge guys. Breakfasts are varied, and the lunch buffet is superb. Rooms can be a bit warm for some, but I found them just right. Fantastic views across the frozen Songhua River from the rooms (see photo) We did have an issue with one of our group members, but it was dealt with very efficiently by reception. Disappointing this year to see the Ice Bar had gone (replaced by more seating for Hot Pot diners) Will be back with another group next year!
We were early into the season, but Ms Una, a manager was very kind to monitor the progress of the opening of their igloo restaurant serving hotpot. She was v prompt in her replies, always within 24 hours, which really impressed me. If not for her, we probably would not have had the chance to dine there, managing to make it the night before we left, as they partially opened the large dining room, not the private rooms. Kudos to her. It's really a once-a-lifetime experience for tourists. However, do NOT approach the concierge to direct the cabs queueing at the driveway to your subsequent destination. Despite us protesting we did not want to call a cab as it wastes time, and there are already two at the driveway, the guy insisted. Not only did it waste time, after DINNER and kids were tired, we were of course overcharged, cos despite the calling, we had to take one from the queue, which costs half the one they insisted on calling. Why, we don't know. All we wanted was for the concierge to tell the driver where we wanted to go. What a lousy end to an otherwise wonderful experience!
Comfortable rooms and great view of the ice festival if you are on the river side. The breakfast buffet is mainly Asian food but has a decent selection of western items including waffles and pastries. Owen Sun one of the chefs is great and really helps make sure the non native speaking guests can get help for the food they are looking for and always a smile when he sees you. The hot pot in an ice igloo is a great experience. Including Harbin beer in the meal would be a plus for the experience. Very friendly staff who are always trying to help you. The hotel is a nice hotel in part of the great white and cold part of China in the winter months.
