I only came here for the Ice Palace experience and the food was terrible. Their definition of pork was simply luncheon meats. Remember to wear your winter clothing along as it is really cold inside the Ice Palace.

We stayed there for three nights. No service at all considering being a 5 star, top tier hotel. But we paid a top 5 star hotel rate. There were a few staff at the door, but no one had any interest to greet their guests when coming in, nor had interest even to notice their existence. There was no strings at the concierge to help out tidying up parcels for guests or offering alernatives to solve the problem. No one help out with luggages when leaving. It is literally a self-served hotel. This brand has always been one of my top choices when travelling aboard. But the experience this time would definitely make me stay away from Shangri la for a while.

We stayed in the Shangri La Harbin (the older one, not the new one) for 3 nights, we booked and prepaid for an executive suite non-smoking. When we checked in we were given a smoking room and was not warned of this. We had to flag this to the duty manager who then advised that their reservation department made a mistake. It was extremely poor customer service to require a customer to flag this issue before we checked into our room. We were subsequently moved to another room on 18th floor the next day which was supposed to be non-smoking. On our 3rd night we find out that we have a strong cigarette smoke smell in the room and upon investigating realise that our neighbours in an adjoining room were smoking, eventhough the whole floor was non-smoking. The same duty manager told us she spoke with our neighbours who admitted they were smoking but she said she couldn't do anything about it! After several conversations I had to get them to tape the entire door connecting our room to our neighbours to stop the smoke coming in which is particularly important as I am travelling with my toddler, not to mention I care about my own health. For a global brand like Shangri La the way our stay was handled was abysmal. If you care about non-smoking stay away from this hotel.

We stayed here because we know and trust the brand as a quality hotel. The hotel is on the older side and really does need a refurbishment. That being said the rooms are not awful, just tired looking. We stayed in January and paid extra for a river view room. As it was so cold outside the windows had a lot of mist on them so it wasn't worth the extra $. We ate breakfast at the hotel and were happy with the variety of the buffet, our kids (12 & 14) especially liked the food. We also had the dinner buffet on the first night which was a little weird as all the food was out but they said we were too early and had to wait 10min before we could start eating. Again the quality of the food was just fine. The location of the hotel is very good especially if you are going to the snow and ice festival, or just for taking a stroll around the streets. Overall the stay was slightly above average,

Smallest rooms of any 5 star in China including Hongkong... This place is in dire need of refit, it has shower curtains in 2017! The reason I rated it has terrible is simple I wrote a long email detailing the issues and my disappointment to the general manger Robert and did not even received the courtesy of a standardized reply eg " thank you for your feedback sorry etc" This place in no way meets Shangri-La standards.

Located at the south of Songhua River is within a short drive to various Harbin attraction in the middle of of Songhua River - Harbin Ice & Snow World, Sun Island Park, Siberian Tiger Park, just to name a few

Quality & trusted brand hotel - Lobby concept was great but the results were horrible (not quality of shangrila) Room was OK, the mattress was a bit too soft Location was in the new area (clean), but a bit far from food and shopping

Property n rooms are a little rundown. Service is not on par with other Shangrila's and waitress does not even understand simple English for example room numbers. Coffee machine in breakfast area was down for two days in a row, the coffee cup I left on the machine the previous day was still sitting there the next, apparently due to an insufficient supply of the bean bag. Have to get mine from the machine behind the bar counter. The butter, magazine and honey served are stale n tasted weird. Disappointed.

This hotel was decent for a provincial Chinese city. It was clean, had wifi, was conveniently located and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The downsides is that it still allows smoking and the executive lounge floor is a smoking floor. I didn't specify a non-smoking room and the first night I thought I was sleeping in a chimney. I am not especially sensitive to smoking but the smell was overpowering and woke me up several times during the night. Also the western food options here are meh so you're better off sticking with Chinese food.

This hotel was really comfortable and friendly. I really liked the lounge/lobby area. There are two excellent restaurants on site. The main restaurant is really classy, with superb presentation of food and local culture. I recommend this hotel for anybody including business people and families. I look forward to returning here soon on my business travels. The hotel is situated along the river walk, which is highly recommended.
