Well, first of all, there is hardly any detailed/updated info on Chinese cities. Perhaps, you can find them in non-English version. I am writing this post to do Ibis Harbin a favor, at no cost. There are two names to this branch, it was formerly known as Ibis Sophia Church then latter known as Ibis Shangzhi. I did try to email them to arrange airport transfer but it did not worked out. Don’t worry too much about it. Once you exit the Harbin Taiping airport, there are plenty of taxis available and it will costs about 130-160RMB to reach Ibis Shangzhi. For me, I landed at the international arrival and I took the free airport shuttle to go to the domestic arrival. This is because I wanted to take the airport bus line 3 which costs 20RMB and it took about 40mins to arrive at the Central Street. Then, it was about 5-10mins walk (flat ground) to reach Ibis Shangzhi. Tip: just be careful when you are crossing road even though the green man is in your favor. Also, beware of slippery grounds. Ibis Shangzhi is located within the shopping centre and there are plenty of local eateries and fast food (Macdonalds). There will be a tour agent at the lobby and you can arrange your day trips activities with him/her. My room was a double bed on the highest floor, room 718. The room was spacious and there were plenty of walking space, a hanging place for winter coats, a small couch with electrical points nearby, electric kettle, 2 bottles of drinking water replenished daily, hair dryer and hot water for shower all the time. The room was pretty heated so it was not cold and the TV channels were mainly Chinese, some Russian channel, some English and French channels too but limited varieties. If you wish to make hot drink, it will be wise to bring/buy your own porcelain cup because they only provide 2 paper cup and 1 tiny plastic cup. The reception opens 24hrs and you can deposit your luggage with them if you wish to go away on a short trip. However, there was no weighing scale at the lobby for your luggage. You will also need to deposit 200RMB for the room throughout your stay. I was there for the Ice and Snow world and there were free shuttle buses to/fro, but subjected to about 1.5-2hrs of free time. If you do not like it, you can always go on your own using public buses or taxis. I have seen buses from Central Street to the Ice and Snow World at 5RMB/pax/way. The tour I joined charged me for the admission ticket listed on the Ice and Snow World website. So there was not extra to pay. The next day, I did joined them for a day tour to places of interests such as Songhua River whereby you can play ATV, snowtube, go-kart and watch winter swimming and fishing performances, Sun Island, Siberian Tiger Park and etc. You have to pay for your own admission for some of these places. Also, there were no obligations for you to stay until the tour ends. This means that you can leave the tour mid-way if you do not wish to join the activities. Else, you can also wait in the bus and go to the next activities. At the end of the day, I minus the actual cost of the admission tickets versus the money paid for this tour, it costs about 140RMB more but this includes transportation, guide fee, visit other places of interests for photo-taking, Russian style town admission and lunch. So it was alright. From Ibis Shangzhi, I was able to walk to Sophia church (along the same street), Central Street (one street behind), Parkson Shopping which has a wal-mart and near the flood control memorial tower. You can either access to Parkson shopping via crossing the roads or use the underground walkway at the Central Street. On my way back, I went back to the airport bus station but the bus was full because at the boarding place, the Central Street station is one of the stops nearest to the airport. So there were no seats available. You can choose to wait for the next bus (which I found it to be 30mins frequency) or you can choose to take a taxi parked around the bus station. Usually, the drivers will offer you car-pooling and it costs about 30-40RMB/pax. Ask whether it includes airport toll. For me, I paid 40RMB and it was included and car-pool with 3 other pax. Stay warm
Well lobbed in Harbin as a pivot point for our trip to and from Inner Mongolia. The hotel is perfectly located in the central area of the town. It's actually a very decent sized city and there is much to see. It's great value, as are most places when you travel in this part of the world. Rooms are small but tidy, clean and suitable for an overnight or short term stay. Will happily stay there again next time we visit the area.
The front desk staff will offer you a 150 yuan taxi service to HRB airport. Don't trust them! They are cheating you! The taxi driver will charge you another 30 yuan when you are approaching the airport toll area. You will be kicked off if you refuse to pay him the 30 yuan. Shame on you!
I visited Ibis hotel Harbin on 29 Dec 17 and Check out on 1 Jan 18, when the taxi arrived at hotel and I founded the hotel is located in a prime location for tourist. When we entered to check in counter, the staff Name, Ms. Zoo did Check in process for us. She is very bad attitude, never smile abs never warm welcome to the guest. Then we went to the room, room size is Ibis standard but not much cleaned. A lot of dust under the bed. Breakfast was so simple and service staffs are never care to guest. All have to do self service but if compare with 29 RMB was acceptable. The check out process with Ms. Zoo again, she never explain the folio and focus on payment only. Never ask about stay, never offer any help how to catch taxi to airport. The worse thing is,I asked her. Are you never say thank you to the guest? She said “may be”. I feel very bad with her. Please bring my comments to develop and training your staff to make guest satisfied. Thank you.
Exactly what it is, no frills hotel. Pro - good location, walking distance to shopping centers, Sophia Church, ZhongYang Street Shopping, Stalin Park, Ropeway cable car, etc., hot water bath is sufficient hot, Cons - very thin on amenities, breakfast is at a canteen (I woudn’t say it is a restaurant), you get 2 bath towels, no hand towels, no fridge (never mind, just open the window a little (it will freeze in winter), very short handed at reception, staff speaks only Mandarin, wall is thin so you hear noises from other rooms.
This is a basic hotel that is located 2~3mins from the walking street where a lot of the restaurant and shopping is located. I booked the family room which was decently sized for our family of 2A 1 child. Nothing fancy, clean rooms. Good place to explore harbin. The only downside is that there seem to be a permanent musky smell as the bathrooms are inwards and does not have ventilators.
We booked a family room on the 11th to 12th Dec. Thank goodness it was only a night stay as the room is really tiny! Thank goodness the room appears clean. There is a queen sized bed and a smaller than single bed in the family room. Hardly any space for 2 big luggage and 2 cabin sized luggages. Had to push them all the way to the door if not there is zero walking space. Toilet is also very compact. Though compact, we were able to bath comfortably. Definitely only able to fit one person so those with young children who may needs parents to bath may find it a problem due to the lack of space. Booked a transfer from the airport reception for our transfer to the airport and it was good. Driver on time and payment was according to the price informed to us by the hotel reception. Okay for a one night stay but definitely not going to choose this hotel if we have to stay for more than one night. Location is pretty good though. Just a few minutes walk from 2 shopping centres.
Just came back from Harbin visiting the Saint Sophia Church. It's beautiful and as it was late and cold, saw the birds resting on the wall of the Church looking like white flowers. The lights on the Church is so beautiful. A place not to be missed.
No, it's not a luxury place. I even had a hole in the wall where the door handle had made contact too often. The bathroom has no water stop for the shower (open floor). But, it worked. Location was fantastic. Taxi drivers knew the area so you could point to it on a map or mention it and you were back home. Check in and out took quite awhile, to the credit of employees and the Chinese who kept trying to cut in, then always interrupted when they weren't being helped. (That's China!) For the lesser price, it was OK. Can be loud if you have noisy neighbors, as the walls and ceiling/floor are thin. It was kept clean.
First of all, they lost my reservation which was booked via the official Accor website. Accor website even guaranteed my booking using my credit card, but they just couldn't find my reservation. Almost all of the staff looked sulky, it was depressing seeing them every time. No basic greeting and they weren't really interested in doing their jobs. The room was filthy and filled with hazardous air. According to the reception, this was supposed to be a non-smoking hotel, but my room and the entire corridor was polluted by guests' smoking and external smog. It was so horrible that I had to wear a 3M mask while sleeping at night. Stains could be found everywhere in the bathroom. The floor was so filthy and sticky and Internet speed was pathetic as well. Quality sleep wasn't possible with all sorts of banging noises and conversations from next room. I truly regret staying at this place, simply the worst I've experienced! I can't think of anything good!
