So, I didn't actually have a room at this hotel, first off. This is mostly reviewing the people I met there. I and my friend wound up at this hotel after I got on the bus at the wrong stop and the bus driver forced us to get off. We are a college-age females from the US. Being paranoid and in an unfamiliar part of town, we were pretty scared and walked about a half-mile to this hotel to get a cab. The people there were incredibly helpful. They spoke English very well, and they booked a cab for us to get back to Zhejiang University, even though we didn't stay there. Some other information: The WiFi worked well, the lobby looked clean :)
This hotel is in the CBD as it’s name suggests. Good for business people who have office work nearby in the day. In the evening the whole area is totally quite and dead. No restaurants or shops nearby. The hotel itself is very basic. Of course the rooms have most amenities one would expect. There seems to be one restaurant in the hotel. The breakfast is adequate but nothing great, very assembly line with synthetic juices and oily omelettes. This is a good choice if your work is nearby and you just need a place to sleep at the end of the day.
Second visit here. The area is dead. Most surrounding apartment blocks are completely empty, so there are few eating options immediately next to the hotel. However you can find some good places to go 10min walk up the road towards all the office blocks in the mall. Apart from that, the area is nice with clean tree lined roads, and little noise. The train station is a short walk away and will get you downtown. As seems normal for Holiday Inn in mainland China, the rooms are great. Ok my bathroom was small, but everything was there. The suites are well appointed and spacious. Even the aircon works - just. But also as is common for Holiday Inn in China, the hotel is let down by its F&B. The small hotel bar wasn't open. And ALL western food is either over or undercooked, or stale. Breakfast items run out quickly, and the single small coffee machine stops working when the grinds need to be emptied. The HI Hangzhou-Xiaoshan hotel 5 miles away upgraded its breakfast, and could teach this management team a lot. In summary, stay here but don't try to eat or drink anything here.
I have no problem to check in and check out. The hotel upgraded me to the mini suite with the washing machine and cooking facility. The bedroom was separated with the kitchen. Bedroom was big enough for me to move around and the bed was comfortable. toiletry was ample supply. I had 2 good sleeps through out. The train station was about 15 to 20 minutes walking distance. And taking a train to the Hangzhou East speed train station was just 15 minutes ride. And shopping malls about 20 minutes walking distance away. There are two big shopping malls, you are able to get the branded stuff from these two malls; besides, these two big mall had many local and western restaurants for selection. Overall, I enjoyed my stall with Holiday Inn CBD. I will be back on my next visit.
Nice modern hotel well maintained in a tree lined street with a view of the waterfront from the rooms. Slow check in check out but pleasant staff, good breakfast ( un crowded ) rooms with safe, iron, ect. Was upgraded to a suit which had a washing machine mini kitchen ect.
this hotel is in a good position for cbd.rooms are big, also with kitchen, washingmachine.price is good for this size room.staff speaks english quite well.the furniture and rug seem a bit old, they could use a renovation
Having not stayed in a Holiday Inn property before I expected it to be a lower standard hotel than it was. Impressed from walking in with a spacious, well decorated lobby and friendly front-desk staff. The staff we dealt with had great English skills, certainly better than our Mandarin! Not all staff are English speakers but there was always someone on staff who was able to help with our more complex questions. The room was spacious and very clean and nicely decorated. For us the biggest problem with the hotel was that while each room has climate control, it's the model where they centrally switch to either heating or cooling. Even though it was winter, we like a cool room and were disappointed we couldn't switch to cooling. When we asked at front desk for instructions in case we were doing something wrong the proactively organised for a fan to be sent to our room. This was much appreciated. With the heating turned off and the window cracked open, the fan was enough to keep us nearly cool enough! Hangzhou is such a massive city. This hotel is one of the newer areas surrounded by lots of expensive looking high-rise residential areas. It's not a pretty area but it's clean and there's plenty of shopping malls and local shops nearby. Behind the hotel near the stadium is a strip of local restaurants and supermarkets. I'd highly recommend the bao from the downstairs bao store! The swimming pool is great and it turns out that a hotel swimming pool might be the only place in China where you get to be alone!
Holiday Inn Hangzhou CBD has a nice location. It is within walking distance from the MixC shopping mall, and the hotel itself has helpful staffs that can speak English. The hotel has fitness center and sauna in the changing room. It also has pool. All facilities are open. The room assigned to me is very huge. It has a washing machine and dining area equipped with things needed to cook. The room is big with sofa area and there is a separate shower and tub. I liked this hotel and it exceeded my expectations.
Competent helpful and friendly receptionist staff. We arrived about 8pm, went for our complimentary drink and had to wait while for drinks to be brought from somewhere else in the building; drinks were good G&T and Heineken. Ate food in an almost empty restaurant due to lateness of hour so there was a limited a la carte menu of about 4/5 European dishes and a couple of Chinese options - had a nice spaghetti bolognese. Breakfast buffet good, varied and plentiful. Main reason for choosing hotel was swimming pool and gym for training which was good enough (about 20m x 6m and clean); gym was limited in scope in terms of machines are stretch areas but all the running and cycling machines worked which isn't always the case in China. Reasonably close to HangZhou East railway station 20mins. Rooms are room and my one had a great view Would use this hotel again as rates are also reasonable.
About 15 minutes walk distance to the metro entrance. The metro can take you to the Xihu, West Lake or the center of the city easily at a cost of less than 6 yuan. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. As a club member, I got an upgrade from a standard king bed room to a suite of very nice city view for free. The kitchen appliances helped to prepare extra meals for my son at night. The green tea offered for free in the room was really wonderful. The food in their cafeteria was good. My son enjoyed the special offer for kids of a combination of steaks and fruit salad and juice a lot at a reasonable price of 68¥. The Hangzhou noodle I took was great too. The only inconvient point is that as its in the CBD area, it is quite in the evenings, and the nearest super market is in a huge fancy shopping mall about 20 minutes' walk from the hotel. And the goods in the market are almost imported goods, which is thereful more expensive than common super markets.
