THE MADISON Hotel Hamburg

When traveling for business nothing makes it better than a hotel that pampers you with simple comforts. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and full of light even during the gray days of winter. Wonderful staff that goes out of their way to help and the restaurant in the hotel is certainly worth a meal. Just ask any of the full tables during business lunch time. Best part is the deal they have with the spa next door. Great gym with spa treatments and yoga! Hotel is easy access to all public transport and tourist sites.

I know Hamburg almost as well as my hometown and love it equally - so I know quite a number of hotels here and was curious about this one, having walked by it so many times due to its location. I was rewarded with such a nice surprise as my corner room was absolutely charming with its kitchenette, coffee and tea selection, great sound system, ample working space with a view of the Michel, and a comfy bed - what´s not to love? When I saw "501" on the room key, I first thought - oh no, hope it´s not next to the elevator - but then I was happy to find it at the very end of the hallway :) Love this room! The staff was nice and felt genuinely helpful from check-in to check-out, the food service throughout the day was great and I didn´t find a single thing wrong with anything. Wifi was fast enough for working and streaming and access quite simple and available throughout the whole hotel. Although you can see the stairs to the harbor from the hotel, it was quiet and sleeping with open windows not a problem. The only thing I would possibly change is that I had coffee and a bowl of Bircher Muesli for breakfast and was given an 18€ breakfast bill - the Bircher was really good but maybe a more flexible breakfast rate could be offered? Overall, the stay was quite pleasant and the location just perfect! If you arrive by plane just take the S1 all the way to Stadthausbrücke (just get a regular one-way ticket at the airport for 3.30 € and then walk about 3 - 4 minutes towards the harbor, same S1 will work if you arrive via the main train station. So just drop your bags off and take another 2 minute walk to the harbor, even if you only have 10 minutes to spare :)

Stayed in a large room for three persons. The room was clean, spacious and with everything you need. Small kitchen with coffeebrewer and minibar. The room had a large toilet and shower and many spaces for clothes and hangers. Location is both near city center and docks, and within walking distance. Free pass to the nearby spa and sauna. Perfect hotel that i will use next time I'm in Hamburg

The Madison is a great hotel located away from the Central train station, but easily accessible by the nearby U-Bahn. The rooms were large and comfortable and the hotel staff extremely friendly. There was some construction in the area (pretty much everywhere in Europe we went) but we never heard any noise.

Everything about this hotel was what we hoped for. The warm welcome, breakfast, cleanliness and facilities in the room, location. All were pretty much perfect. The room was large, exceptionally clean, bathroom was lovely and also very big. Staff at reception and the waiting staff in the restaurant were all really helpful and friendly. It was conveniently located for Baumwall (approx. 150 metres) and Stadthausbrücke stations, Hafen City and River Elbe - all 5 mins walk or less. We would gladly return.

Found via reviews on trip advisor and the hotel lived up to the reviews. I had been messed about by Ryanair with cancelled flights then flight time changes but I was so glad I had booked the Madison as they could not have been more helpful. The room was very large as was the bathroom. The buffet breakfast was excellent, just one comment you can order any type of eggs but we only discovered this when we saw other people with different eggs, the waiting staff or a notice on the table explaining this would be useful. The location was excellent, 3 mins to U and 5 to the S Bahn. The decor was great and the staff very helpful and friendly. Would recommend this hotel and would stay again. Also loved the sweets and fruit at reception.

Absolutely outstanding hotel and service. We did not expect that. Came for a weekend from London/NY just to see the Christmas market and we were treated like luxury hotel guests. Christina Sanos at the front desk was exemplary, she took very good care of us and gave us a beautiful room, called us when it was ready as well. Loved the interior of the hotel, everything is super clean and modern with a funky red theme. My friends work in hospitality for amex and they were honestly saying how it’s a 5 star hotel in their mind. If I ever go back to Hamburg, this is definitely where I’ll stay to feel comfortable. All the best to the Madison team.

Lovely hotel in a good location. Good size bedroom with a great size bathroom. Free sweets on the reception counter together with walnuts and satsumas which were hard to pass by. We had a nice meal in the restaurant for a reasonable price. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to Hamburg.

We have just returned from a 5 day visit to Hamburg. We are totally impressed at the immaculately kept rooms. Breakfast is scrumptious and Marley’s restaurant is delightful and exquisite from menu to waiters to espresso macchiato. There are no hidden perks with prices and extra charges. Everything is clear and well explained. Last but definitely not least is the charming Sophia Magliulo. She is the most helpful receptionist we have met in our many years of travelling. Not only did she greet us with a smile and a lovely kind of energy but she also suggested beautiful places for us to go to after our business meetings and helped us out with everything we needed. Thank you Sophia for being especially hospitable.

I stayed here 4 nights during business meetings, the hotel is quite modern and clean, service is good. I really have no complains except for the extra charges. As hotel guest the parking of your car is charged 30 euro x day, same as a normal non guest; the gym is free only until 12, I honestly arrived at 12.02 and they asked me 20 euro for the usage of the gym!!! As hotel guest this is the most expensive gym ever, of course I declined and went for a run outside. Breakfast are also quite expensive, yes plenty to choose but as I travel constantly I really find these extra charges not particularly positive. I have to say that all the charges were well explained in advance so no bad surprises, but still 20 EUR for 30 minutes on a treadmill isn't fair.
