Park Hotel am Berliner Tor

I only returned from Park Hotel am Berliner Tor yesterday and I am still trying to figure out my thoughts on the hotel. The overriding feeling was underwhelmed and disappointed. Right from checking-in when I wasn't given any info on the "free" wifi, I went up-to my bedroom and then had to come back down again to ask about this - when I was given a sheet of paper, all in German that I had to ask be explained to me. The point to note here is that the wiif is limited, so if you exceed this then you must go back to reception again and ask for another code. The main bedroom area is of a decent size, however I have never been in a smaller bathroom, it's impossible for a normal size man to get in and out of the shower(which is just shower hose on on the wall). The TV has no channels that you can, I made the mistake of asking why I couldn't watch a Bundesliga match on the Sunday - only to be told that there is no channels, not even the option to pay......remarkable for a 4* hotel. Was also pretty shocked that there is no fridge, no tea/coffee making facilities and everything just seems to be done on the cheap and the hotel masquerading as a 4* - which for me it absolutely is not. If you do stay here and need to get around the city, it's well connected with Berliner Tor Station, which can get you to the city centre and many tourist sights one-way. Whilst the other direction will take you directly to the airport also.

The hotel is conveniently located just a few stops on S1 train from the airport. You can actually see the hotel as you approach Berliner tor train station, so no problems finding it either. From Berliner tor train station you can quickly and easily access most of the city sights. We bought a group pass that covers all buses, trains and even the water ferry for 11,5 euro a day for up to 5 people. The hotel is clean and newly refurbished. Staff are welcoming and helpful. The rooms and bathroom ( with a shower only) are very small. But they are well equipped and fine for a short break. Breakfast is expensive. However, there are several cheap cafes nearby where you can get breakfast and snacks. There is also a very cheap supermarket just a few hundred yards away that also has a couple of eating outlets. Wifi is free and the signal is strong

I am in this Hotel for 30 Min now and I regret the booking already. It is IBIS standard or even below that. The rooms are tiny and have no equipment, no Coffee or Tea facilities, no iron board, no water cooker, no safe, nothing. The bathroom size is less than 2 m², not easy to turn around inside. The wifi is capacity limited. The interior was renewed some time ago, that has to be noted, but price/value ratio is beyond believe.

This hotel is in an ideal location. You can get a direct train from the airport which takes about 20 minutes and the hotel is a 2 minute walk from the train station Berliner Tor. The hotel is clean, comfortable and very welcoming. The staff were really great with information to get us around the trains and places to visit. The only downside to this hotel is that there are not coffee making facilities in the room. But there is a lovely turkish cafe up the road serving coffee for 1 Euro!!!

We stayed here for 2 nights and were very impressed. The hotel's staff were extremely friendly and helpful providing us with maps as well as advising us what to do in Hamburg. They also allowed us to store our luggage as we had arrived a little too early to check in. The room was modern, comfortable and well equipped with a flat screen tv, wardrobe and a hairdryer in the bathroom. However, there wasn't any air con or a safe for storing our belongings. The location was good. It was just a short walk from Berliner Tor station which is only 4 minutes from Hamburg Hbf on the S1 bahn or 25 minutes to Hamburg Airport in the opposite direction. In our opinion, the hotel is perfect for a short stay. We would return!

I have been here for 1 week for a business trip: perfect place! The rooms are clean, view on the street and a little park. The staff is really nice, kind and helpful! The breakfast ist amazing! The position is perfect: 5 min walk to the strassenbahn. You can also walk to the city center in maybe 20-30 minutes.

I stayed for 6 nights. The Hotel is 5min walk from the S1 metro stop, direct from the Airport. Single room, had a double bed, TV, Fridge, free wifi. The Bathroom was small but adequate. Only one Lift ever seemed to be working. Rooms were cleaned every day. I didn't have the €13 breakfast, plenty of much cheaper options a few minutes walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful . The hotel is located slightly west of the St Georg area and 10mins on the S-Bahn from the city centre,

Room was small but clean and modern. Had a fan which helped for the warm summer evenings. Black out curtains and an extra external window blind. Bathroom was very small, not usually a problem for me but the shower was a bit difficult to get in and out of because of the odd perspex enclosure. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Didn't try breakfast but was €13 as an option if we had needed it. Great location, 5 min walk from Berliner Tor metro station and then only one stop to the city.

Stayed here on a recent trip to Hamburg ( May 2016), rooms are comfortable and as described but the bathroom doors have no locks! Also the toilet is a bit on the low side you almost feel as if you are squatting! and the shower cubicle is bit small! The lifts are very slow, takes ages to get to the upper floors. It was quicker walking down I was on the 4th floor. The reception area is functional, the staff at reception are very helpful also the location to Berliner Tor tube station is great since it is only a few stops away from the town centre and a direct line to the airport! Would stay here again

The hotel was good and the room add it and there was no hassle and the reception staff were very friendly The hotel's location is good and the village from the train station and Arab restaurants approximately 10 minutes
