Booked through hotels.com. The room was awful. Tiny. Double bed was a big single wedged against the wall. Claustrophobic!! Couldn’t stay in the room. Went to reception. Had to pay €150 extra to get a bigger room. The next room we got was bigger but STANK of smoke from the staff area downstairs. Everything stank of smoke. Grim. Otherwise the hotel was ok. Old, dated. Central beside hoffbahnhoff.
Very close to train and underground station. 2 to 5 min walk. Some street noise. Rooms are typical European but you will be out sight.seeing. No English channels on tv. Didn't try the internet. Big European breakfast. We will stay there again. They will secure your bags before check-in. English of front staff is very good. Nice staff.
I did not expect much from a place in that area. In the same street you have halal-stores and red-light district-like shops. Staff seemed tired (polite, but not friendly). Rooms were excellent. Breakfast was good (coffee quality was good, but not very good), variety of of food was very good though, same as dining service. If you're looking at this, than you obviously know the location is excellent. Parking is a 5 minute drive away and costs €15 (Jan 2018 price).
We paid over $200 per night and stayed for two nights from Dec 30 to Jan 1. The check-in process was chaotic, many people checked in at the same time and it didn't feel welcoming. They forgot to give us the card for the room which you need when you get the key back. The room was pretty big, for three people, 1 double bed and 1 single bed, the bathroom and toilet separate, not bad condition and pretty clean. And that is all of the good things I can say about this hotel. The TV in the room was small, just taking space from the desk. There was no refrigerator in the room, no kettle to boil water (offered for extra charge) and not enough glasses and towels when we moved in. The bathroom had a deep bath tub with very slippery floor, each one of us almost fell getting out of it because it was deep and no railing to hold on. The cot (which we didn't need, offered at extra cost) was saggy. But the worst was the breakfast, which was "included" in our pay. It was the worst breakfast I've ever had at the hotel. All they offered was plates with cheese and cut meet, not very fresh bread, large tomato slices, 4 kinds of cereal, and 3-4 kinds of yogurt product. Bad coffee and no tea. For the entire hotel population who came to have a breakfast there was only one table of food. I am vegan, but I usually find enough to eat, but there were no salads, no fresh fruit (canned fruit instead), no pastries for coffee (in Germany where there are bakeries on each corner).
A bit outdated Hotel but with a extremely helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was good enough for our family. Good location near city and central railway station. Neighborhood was a bit colorful with a lot of doner restaurants. It could get noisy on evenings with young men hanging around but we didn't face any problems.
We stayed her 5 nights - again as part of an extended stay after a tour group booking - thanks to our less than helpful tour company PTG Tours UK. Situated a few metres from the main street adjacent to the main train station, the area has an air of the desperate. Rough sleepers abound, and the area is less than inviting after dark with many bars and other 'attractions' nearby. (We were actually accosted by an inebriated guy as we departed for the station - 50 metres away - on the morning we left.) Staff seemed to suspicious of guests as we moved in and out of the hotel - one actually merely peered around the door to answer our question about breakfast times - admittedly he was on hie cell phone so why should we as paying guests interrupt him. Breakfast was only just adequate, and seemed to be mainly out the cans. Rooms were small and beds the same. The place needs a good refurb I would think. Best advice is - try elsewhere.
Booked on Expedia and the name on the hotel was different than the name on Expedia. The street address and building number was correct and that was how we located the hotel. The front desk staff was very helpful, they accommodated our request for a quiet room that faced the back, opposite the busy street. The room and bed were very small, but had a safe and the breakfast was above average. The hotel is in a very dodgy area, but a five minute walk to the train station and nicer dining, shopping and grocery stores.
It's always refreshing when you book a hotel in the right location at a good price. This certainly was no exception. Ideal for large parties and groups, the cost can be kept to a minimum by sharing (up to 4 in a room). Approx ¿120 EU a night for the room means you could afford a good hotel for a good price. The rooms are adequate sizes to cope with sharing, very spacious, clean, tidy. Bathrooms are nipping clean and the breakfast is continental and enough to make a start to the day. We stayed as a group of 27 and all were happy with the standard. Next thing us the location of the hotel. About 30 euros for a taxi will get you there from the airport but if you're in a tight budget you can take the train from the airport to the central station (a 5 minute walk to the hotel). A ticket on the train was a few euros but my advice would be to get a day ticket. As we were in a group you could get a 24 hour group ticket which covered 5 people at 12 Euros. This allowed you to go anywhere on the train in the time period. The main drinking area is 4 stops away in the tube from central station and is called the reiperbahnn (area is called St Paul's) this is where the night life, drinking etc is situated. Use the trains for this, however if you took a taxi to come back it's about 15 Euro. In summary, good value hotel, nice and clean in a great location. Another bonus is that this is the Turkish area in the city and there's plenty of very good quality kebab shops on the hotels doorstep. Recommended!
Stayed here for 3 nights with 4 friends in a quad and a twin room. Both rooms clean and tidy and good soundproofing, the quad room was huge with balcony and plenty of space. Staff were pleasant, breakfast buffet had a good choice, including some excellent scrambled egg. It's in a great location, a couple minutes walk from main bus and train stations, making it very easy to get around the city. No hesitation recommending this one.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We had an extremely large corner room. Hotel was located by the main station in the city, meaning it was convenient getting to and from the airport. The underground station was a 1 minute walk that will connect to you the city hall, port and st Pauli. Hotel was extremely clean, beds were comfy and the hotel buffet breakfast had a lot of variety... cereals, fruit, yoghurt, egg, tea &a coffee, Fruit juice, rolls, meats and cheeses. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are here for a city break for a few nights.
