Bed was like a prison bed really hard, we had one pillow each and it was like sleeping with a piece of paper. I requested twice to have new pillows nothing bought. Then on the last night we asked for pillows again and got brought two duvets wrapped up in a pillow case. Awful. On two occasions we asked for ice at reception ‘what’ was our reply. All but one member of staff was rude, un helpful and spoke to us like we were idiots. The breakfast was mediocre and the fact we had to pay 4 Euro for a bottle of water in our room (which we thought was complimentary and drank one and a half bottles). The cleaners persistently knocked on the doors on our second morning, we were having a long lie in and all they wanted to do was ‘clean’ our room. Would not return and they should not have 3 stars as the level of customer service was shocking.
Stayed here with a friend for 5 nights. It's super close to Hamburg station which was incredibly helpful. The staff were very friendly and helpful and check in and out was very easy. The room we had was a standard double and it was big enough for us (and came with two duvets which was good for us!). Breakfast each morning was nice and wasn't overly busy. Overall this hotel was very nice!
Nice hotel in sidestreet near main station so very convenient. Lots of bars and restaurants on square facing station, Room was smallish but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was continental style but good quality. Staff were helpful and capable. Rooms facing street could be noisy. I went on a holiday break but hotel would also suit business travellers
Stayed here for 3 nights, our room was very small. You were only able to get out of one side of the bed. We asked to change rooms and was told by the evening reception that would be fine and to come to reception in the morning. We asked reception in the morning and was told that we had picked a small double room and basically we could not change. The receptionist was very rude in his attitude and manor. The room was really only made for a single bed. You shouldn’t have to climb over the end of the bed to get in and out of bed. One very small bed side shelf, which only just fit the lamp on. A cobweb was hanging from the ceiling for our entire stay. The bathroom sink had a crack in it. Breakfast was basic and the scrambled eggs were not hot enough. I would not stay here again and not recommend this hotel to anyone else.
The single room was tiny and very old fashioned. I changed hotels despite not being able to get a refund! The receptionist wasn't friendly, she had a bad attitude, it seems the staff are unhappy. The very immediate area has drug dealers, prostitutes and dodgy people, so I wouldn't recommend staying there if you're on your own. There's a public sign just outside the hotel saying guns, knives, sprays and weapons are prohibited in the area. It's there for a reason. The breakfast was good and the the bathroom etc was very clean - the positive points!
I made a reservation on Booking and, the day before my arrival to the hotel I check on the website if there was everything ok and it was. When I got here, the youngest recepcionist couldn't find my reservation. He asked the older one about it and he said it has been canceled because of something like my credit card not being valid. That's not true because a week earlier I made 2 or 3 tickets' reservations to some places in Berlin and everything went fine there. Therefore, I asked for a room and he said it would cost more. The price of what I have reserved was of 95€. Now it was 115€ plus a tax (I didnt understand what tax) of 3,21€. Ok. The youngest showed me a room that omg. Degrading. Before, he wasn't even managing to find the room (room 9) because it is not mentioned in the elevator or indications along the hall.. Then I noticed that the tv was not working neither was the hairdryer. I went for dinner and, as I was leaving, I said to the older about those things weren't working and he answers "the hairdryer neither?". Lol. He told me he'd check it out. I got here at 22.30 and guess what? Everything was the same. Besides that, the water was impossible to temper. Plus, the room is located in the middle of the stairs and I was always hearing people going up and down and talking etc. 118,21€ for this kind of room? Please.
I recently staying in these hotel, Was a bit nervous after I read those reviews, but anyhow I did booked these hotel for my first time visiting Hamburg City. It was not as what I did expected, I did arrived quite later in the afternoon after tired journey from Berlin I was welcomed with nice and polite way by two receptionist I forgot their name (one is black skin and the other one was perhaps from Asia. They did very quick checked in me in to the room and also helped me resolved my problem with my credit. It’s was nice and touch up derive. The hotel it’s self just coated right in centre by opposite the Main Street and the Main Central station, easy to acces shopping area, Restaurants, cafe/bars and other tourist area. Very convenient. Love my room being cleaned and tidy by the house keeping, although it’s in the centre but no cost noise once you inside the hotel and in the room. My last morning I had to leave early and against the reception prepared my breakfast box and gave to me upon I checked out. Very well trained staff and helpful. These little thing they offer will always guide me to come back to stay when I return back to the hotel. Thank you Novum staff for keep me happy during my stay. Keep it up a good work! Cheers Yakob
The hotel is located on a less attractive small street next to main train station. I't barely a five minutes walk to trains or subway. The staff is very polite and most speak good English. Everything is very clean and tidy. I couldn't find a single stain in the bathroom. An economy room is quite small, but comfy. The double-bed is large and extremely comfortable. The bathroom is roomy and the shower works well. Breakfast is very basic with bread, rolls, toppings, scrambled eggs, cereals and good coffee. Allergens are not marked in any way. I would certainly book a room from this hotel on my next trip to Hamburg, too.
After reading the reviews about this place I was a little anxious about our stay - but I was pleasantly surprised. We had a good sized double room at the front of the hotel. Bed were very comfy - only given one pillow but the staff were happy to provide more on request. Yes, there was some street noise, but this was to be expected as the hotel is a 2 minutes walk from the central station and opposite some small bars. Room was cleaned every day and was spotless. Good powerful shower in the bathroom. Staff were friendly and efficient - I liked the leaving the key system (fairly standard practice in Germany) as it meant I did not have to worry about losing it. Good breakfast provided in price. Area directly outside the hotel is a little seedy, but no worse than any other large city. I would advise avoiding Hansaplatz at night - but is okay in the day. At no point did I feel unsafe. Finally, the hotel offered a luggage room and safe free of charge (safe requires a 20 euro deposit - but this is refunded) which i felt was a nice touch. The hotel provided and excellent base to explore the city, and if I were to return to Hamburg I would stay here again.
We stayed for a week in this hotel. The first night was impossible to sleep ( room 105) because all the night , like every night, a lot of african imigrants stayed in front of the hotel and speaked aloud. The next day we obtained to change the room, a room situated in a quite zone. The hotel is well situated in Hamburg. The breakfast was very good, the room was cleaned every day. In the Central Station (Bahnhof) there is a supermarket opened in Sundays. The cons are: it is not AC, it is not a fridge in the room and not a kettle. The price payed ( 83 euros for a double room per night) is a little expensive for their offer. If you visit Hamburg don't forget to go to visit Lubeck ( by train, a one day ticket for a family costs 28 euros for a person+3euros for each supplementary person up to 5 persons in total- and you can travel by train all the day in the land Schleswig-Holstein).In conclusion, Hamburg is a lovely town, but the hotel choosed wasn't the best option.
