NH Hamburg Altona4.0 out of 5.0

Some of the reviews of this hotel could put others off from staying which would be a shame. It’s not in the centre of Hamburg by any means but you would presumably check that out before booking it. There is a bus stop right opposite that will take you to Rathaus (town hall) within about 20 minutes. There are stops on the way that will drop you very near Reeperbahn as well. The hotel is clean, the staff are helpful, the rooms are of a very decent size. My only complaint (if I were to have one) is that the rooms weren’t ready until 3pm and after travelling for almost 10 hours before arriving it would have been nice to get settled into the room and freshen up before going into the city. Breakfast is on the steep side - €22.90 EACH - but there is a McDonalds across the road and there are supermarkets within a short walking distance, so you’re able to make your own arrangements if you don’t want to pay their fancy prices. I would definitely stay here again.
We stayed three nights and were absolutely satisfied with the variety of food on breakfast, as well as multi-languaged waiters there. The hotel lobby area has a nice small table with welcome drink and welcome cookies, that also supported the feeling that the guests are taken good care of. The room had an ideal temperature which is vital, the housekeeping personnel was very welcoming and did their job at a wonderful level!
A clean room, very basic, very bland. No art works, pictures. No slippers. Bath has shower in it. No facecloths. Room a little noisy. Service levels ok. They have a wellness centre, but no gym and no pool. Restaurant is pretty good. Service directory is self-printed.
The hotel is fine, stayed two night but found two minor issues, the first was that no coffee / tea is available in the room and I guess this is normal in Hamburg, the second was that they offer no English channels on the TV, not even BBC World which is very strange. Did not have breakfast at the hotel, but had dinner, it was ok with limited menu on offer.
it does the job for a night or two, but expect no thrills or surprises.. I stay there regularly for work, however always as a second option. staff at the bar very welcoming and great service provided all the time
Quite good stardard of services in terms of room (eventhought my room was a little bit noisy) and restaurant services (we really enjoyed our late dinner the day of our chech-in). Morning breakfast was average (poor selection of food, average food quality). A FOC shuttle bus service to down town would be actually appreciated considering the distance of NH Altona from the city center (above all during the main events scheduled like the Seatrade).
We stayed for two nights at the NH Hamburg Altona, and we were very impressed by the level of dedication and service that we received. We had a housekeeping question and Frau Folly went to extraordinary length to accommodate us. Really top notch. Location is a bit out of the way, but apart from this, we couldn't have been happier. The hotel is also sparklingly clean and refreshingly modern. At breakfast, we had to rush out and were offered doggy bags for buffet items. All incredibly friendly. Thank you so much!!!!!
Arrived with family after a long drive from Luxembourg. Initial we were taken good care of until we got to the rooms. Overall air conditioning was terrible. We had two connecting rooms and in of them the air conditioning stopped working late night. The adjustment panel was also broke. Eventually we had to open the windows, which was not an preferred option while the hotel has heavy traffic outside. There was no batteries for the remote tv control and breakfast was expensive. We have stayed at 20 hotels this July, and this one was expensive and bad. Steer clear!
Good hotel property, however not much around within walking distance. Lots of police staying as guests in preparation for the G-20 meeting. Rooms and public areas were well kept and the staff were great. The restaurant was great. The staff opened early for us. Good menu and morning breakfast.
Good location, easy access to city center by bus. Bus stop right in front of hotel. Bathrooms and bedrooms were really good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The high quality breakfast buffet was a great start in the day.
