Horrible accommodation at Hamburg!

Avoid this place at all cost. This “hotel” is classified as a 3* hotel, but given it a 2* is way too generous. 1. When checking in the front desk person said that the room is very small and he offered us a upgrade to a larger room, but with a fee of EUR 35. We declined & he wanted us to offer a price. 2. We again declined and moved to a very tiny room, which is not even enough space to open the luggage. It is located at level 2 with no elevator. 3.The front desk didn’t want to help me with moving our luggage and we have to drag them up to very steep stairs. 4. The television isn’t working. 5. The toilet is very small and smells really bad. 6. No coffee making facilities in the room. 7. We bought the room with breakfast included. However it’s served not in this hotel but another one(Savoy Hotel) about 2 minutes walking distance away. When we walked there the next morning Savoy Hotel’s front door is locked from inside and no one was manning the front desk. We thus were not able to go in for breakfast. The next day we are able to go in as the front door is unlocked. However in the 3rd morning the door was again locked from inside. Fortunately one guest walked out to smoke and he gladly helped us. 8. We thus missed out 1 out of 3 breakfast & I hope hotels.com can look into this matter. 9. Lastly the area that this hotel is situated is located in a sleazy and dirty area. Rubbish are thrown along the streets and many dubious people.

This is really good value for a reasonable comfortable hotel near the central train station in Hamburg. A bit dated interior but all clean. Breakfast is also very reasonable prised and good value.

The location is very bad. I would not recommend you stay here. The room is ugly and feels old, the dryer and tv did not work. The staff wanted us to leave the key at reception, if we left the room...

lose to the station, but...

The room was very small. Bathroom sink was so small every time you wash your face water splashes everywhere. The hotel was close to the station but in seedy area. Our room didn’t look like the one we booked. We didn’t go out at night. The breakfast was good and very reasonable. House keeping was good. Wifi was good, too.

**Women travelling alone** Do not use this hotel!! I felt so uncomfortable throughout my whole stay. The area surrounding the hotel didn’t seem very safe and I made sure to be back in my room before dark. I was stared at, comments were made and made to feel disrespected even by the hotel staff. It would be fine for a guy to stay here but women..please be careful if you are staying here.

Convenient to main station. A little hesitant to go out at night, but felt comfortable and safe with 24 hour reception. No lift available and the room was a little stuffy with heat, perhaps even a fan would be beneficial to circulate the air.

It was not a hotel but a camp or a homeless shaltter. The room was at the hotel entrance and 3 steps away from the reception desk. It was noisy and very felt unsafe. There are also people living in 4-5 in room. It was smelling take away food out of the room next door. It should not say 3 stars hotel !!

Close to the station. Easy to find. As in Europe there are stairs but no lift. Breakfast for €5 is brilliant. Very nice breakfast room.

Not a family friendly area

We made the mistake of booking the non-refundable price. There was a sex shop close by and there were advertisements for a male sex show nearby. We didn’t feel comfortable staying in the area with our family and, although hotels.com tried to help us, the hotel refused to give us a refund on our booking. We recommend going with the refundable price if you are thinking of staying here so you can make your own judgement regarding the area and it’s safety and have the possibility of recouping your money if you feel as uncomfortable as we did.

The Hotel is far away from being one. Outside toilets for most guests, No lift for baggage. Obviously this place is used by ladies that receive customers in their rooms. Above and around the Hotel are private appartments with extreme noise. Drug dealers in front of the hotel doing their business, that may be in the nature of the location. If you are on a business trip and want a clean and cosy place - do not drop off here. Don't save money on thr wrong end...you'll regret it!

Not too shabby

Not too bad. It was not the most extravagant room in the world but that was not what I signed up (or paid) for. If you’re looking for a place to crash for the night, or a few nights this will work. If you’re worried about English almost all of the staff speaks English, which I am finding to be true around most of Hamburg. The only complaint was that there would be random sewage-like smells in the bathroom if the door was left shut. I don’t know what could cause that but other than that I really had a pleasant time and cannot truthfully complain and say anything negative other than the kind of unpleasant smell that wasn’t but even present the whole time.
