I am still at the hotel when I arrived late last night could not find parking so I had to leave my car at the mouth of the hotel just before you get to the hotel because there was no parking and they charge me €3:60 taxes and I thought it was already been charged and added to the hotel room in the room price , and in the room can anyone tell me what it means (free mini bar) because it’s only a small empty fridge in the room And I picked it because I thought it is near the town centre of Hamburg but it’s not the nearest anything is 20 minutes away it’s a hotel in A or B road and could not have a coffee or anything as there no such things in the room and I definitely made a mistake choosing this place

Great location outside of Hamburg

Great location since we were looking to stay outside of the city. It only took 25 minutes to get to Hamburg. On-site parking and great breakfast. Large, comfortable room. We had a great stay.

Nice and friendly staff. Easy to check-in even at late night. The bathroom could have been better. I found some spiders and spiderwebs. It didn't look clean enough to be acceptable.

Good location for a stopover.

Ideal location for a stopover, close to the A7 motorway. Very helpful and friendly staff, great choice for breakfast, but let down by the room having unsupportive pillows and a shower screen in need of repair. However, the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. We would recommend Grüne Tanne for the location, the warm welcome and the breakfast.

Very disappointing

I can’t lie - this is not the best hotel I have stayed in. It is situated in a pleasant suburb of Hamburg and on first sight looked promising. When I arrived after 300 hot sticky miles on my motorbike they tried to charge me again for a room where I had already paid in advance. Despite the fact I had a printed invoice which showed I had paid they were reluctant to let me have my room. Eventually the guy behind the desk, who spoke very little English and as far as I could tell very little German either, spoke to his boss who said I could have a room but he would be coming to see me later. He never turned up. The room itself was shabby. It hadn’t been decorated for a while and was home to a lot of spiders. I didn’t bother trying the restaurant as I wasn’t asked if I wanted a table for the evening, nor was I asked if I wanted breakfast. When I came to try the shower in the morning I found that it didn’t work. Just a dribble of water coming from a shower head which was completely blocked with lime scale. The bed itself was comfortable but the room was too hot and there was no air conditioning. Opening the window wasn’t an option as the hotel is situated on a main road. I am prepared to concede that the recent issues with COVID-19 might have caused some reduction in standards but at a time when the hospitality trade needs to get customers back this experience was not what I would expect.

Last year when we just turned up late in the day with no reservation, we were given a beautiful room on the 2nd floor. This year after booking very far in advance we were given a rather shabby room up under the eaves at the back of the property. So my conclusion is that they do not give their best rooms to online rental companies.

Pleasant and easy check-in although I arrived quite late- accommodation and n a separate block but easy to access. Very handy as I was working about 10 minutes away in south Hamburg with little traffic to speak of first thing in the morning.

Good budget hotel.

This hotel stay was very enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are quite basic, clean and comfortable. There is adequate parking and the area is quite qiet. The only drawbacks in my opinion was, as an English speaker, there was very few English channels on the TV. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. This hotel is very good value for money and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

don't go expecting a shiny new building, this is an older hotel, and it looks like it's been a few years since it has had work done. that said, couldn't find fault. Everything was clean, everything worked when it was supposed to. Staff were helpful and polite. Only minutes from the motorway, so great location in a small town. Perfect for a night or two

We stayed here on our first night in Hamburg after arriving on a flight from Iceland. It located a bit away from the main city in a quiet neighborhood. Very pretty area with flowers and trees. The room was clean large and very comfortable. There was always someone who spoke English and the staff was very friendly. The attached restaurant served a very nice dinner and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant specializes in Balkan food but has standard German fare as well. The additional morning breakfast buffet was fine. Good choice of breads, meats, cheeses etc. Free parking on premise.

Clean room but the breakfast was a huge rip off

After we checked in we were asked if we were told breakfast would be an additional 15 Euros each. Thinking it would be a substantial breakfast we went for it. They charged us immediately for two breakfasts for two days. The breakfast the first morning consisted of luke warm coffee, the remnants of what was scrambled eggs, warm yogurt and just a few slices of cold cuts and some rolls. Not what I expected for 15 Euros each. The next morning was worse. I asked for cooked eggs and got soft boiled and there was even less of the food that we had the morning before. The only good thing about this hotel was the comfortable bed. We feel taken advantage of. Do not stay here.
