The location cannot be better, right across the street from the train station and an easy walk to great shopping and restaurants and a very safe area ! The hotel has been updated but still has some old world class. Our room was compact but clean with a nice view of the train station. We will definitely stay here again ! Good value for a big city.

Perfect hotel with Nice rooms. Complete breakfast, and friendly staf. In the middel of the center of Hamburg. Manu restaurants in the neighberhood and public transport only 100 mrt many shops of al kind

Came to Hamburg on a mini break with my partner & 5yr old son. Picked this hotel as, after reading reviews, it was a good location and boy were we not disappointed. The location was absolutely perfect with the Hauptbahnhof (central station) opposite the hotel. The hotel also provide 3 days of free public travel (train, underground & buses) which became very useful for us. The room was absolutely immaculate (only snag for us was having to pay an extra €25 on check out for an extra bed which we weren't aware about). As we arrived at the hotel at 9.45am and check in wasn't till 2pm they provided us with a luggage room to store our bags so we didn't have to carry them round with us & this was provided again after departure as our flight home wasn't until 18.30 and check out was 11am. Recommend this hotel 100% staff were very helpful and spoke very good English! Will definitely visit again

Hotel Fuerst Bismarck is located directly across the street from the Hamburg train station, which I found very attractive and the reason that I booked it. If I were expecting more, I may have been disappointed. I stayed in a single room, which turned out to be in the "expanded" area and on the back side of the hotel and on the top floor. It was a unique room with a slanted ceiling that created an area that would have been perfect to store luggage if I had brought several bags. The bed was very comfortable, there was a desk/chair and a complimentary bottle of sparkling water. The bathroom had all of the amenities and was a reasonable size. There were a couple of steps in the hallway between the original Hotel section and the expansion, but an elevator was available to take you up and down the floors. Interestingly, there was a second elevator close to the first, which was out of order when I was there, with a wrap-around staircase. There is no view, to speak of, on the backside and I should have asked if there was a single room on the front (doubtful) but I actually wanted to witness the action on the street during my downtime. Walking through the train station (which was sizable and had plenty of food options, etc.) the city of Hamburg sites and shopping area was on the other side. On the hotel side, I didn't walk through the St. Georg area much, but was surprised how the atmosphere changed so quickly. I wanted to explore more, but didn't have time.

I could not find any ways to improve this hotel. The staff were excellent and always helpful, the room was a very good size (bathroom in particular) and was always clean and had everything we needed. The location is another huge bonus - you can literally see it from the main station so if you travel to Hamburg by plane or train, getting to the hotel could not be easier, but it's also very close to major attractions and round the corner is a street with many good restaurants and bars, and we ended up visiting this area every night we were in Hamburg. Free travel pass included for public transport in Hamburg for duration of our stay. Overall, a great hotel.

Could not have been more conveniently located: S-Bahn from the airport, next to main railway station and other transport links. and close enough to walk to many interesting things. Plenty of interesting, varied and cheap places to eat and drink under the railway station. Rooms spotless, hotel secure and very fair price. We didn't have breakfast but did help ourselves to complementary tea. NB no kettle in room. Friendly helpful staff. As the building is long and narrow you can have a short walk to your room, but we have been in much worse. We would go back.

Stayed at this Hotel for 3 nights in February 2017. The hotel is perfect for a few days in Hamburg, from the great location opposite Hamburg central train station (HBF) to the friendly and helpful check in staff, there isn't really anything I could fault about the it. We arrived at the hotel early morning and were quickly checked in, as well as being given a free 3 day pass for all public transport (really useful!). Our room was located on the first floor, and was a little bit difficult to find as the hotel has a slightly odd layout, although I'm sure the staff would be more than happy to help if you have any trouble with this. Once we did reach our room, we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and size of it. For the price we paid for this hotel we couldn't have hoped for anything better. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel can be a bit noisy, but what would you expect being located so close to the main train station? This was something we were more than happy to live with for such a great location (and it wasn't actually that bad anyway). All in all, great hotel that I would definitely recommend for a short stay in Hamburg.

I only stayed at this hotel for two days but it has been a pleasure. The staff is super friendly, the room was clean and made an overall good impression. I liked that it was very central, so you could reach the shopping street within 5 minutes by walking. Another nice benefit was that a ticket for the public transportation was included for the time you stay at the hotel. I did not have breakfast there, so I can't tell how the food was but everything else just surprised me positively.

Located bang opposite the Hamburg HBF, one expects all the gloomy things that this brings: the noise, the unsavoury characters hanging around at night, the general grubby atmosphere….and this hotel didn't let down in any of these aspects! Oh yes, the level of noise exceeded all my expectations! I really wanted to sleep well the first night, so I didn't bother about the fact that there wasn't any air-conditioning, as it was very late at night when I checked in. But I had a mugging incident at a beer house next door and was rather upset, so kept the window open to let in fresh air….with all the noise from the Train Station and the ambulances coming in and going out….it was impossible to sleep more than a few, very disturbed hours. At 6 am, I requested the receptionist for a quieter room, and was told very coldly to return a ‘few hours’ later. So I had my first tour of Hamburg at 6 am, with very little sleep, lots of rain and grey skies! No wonder then that I am in no hurry to visit Hamburg anytime soon! I moved to a new room which faced the rear, and what a difference it made! The room was of a similar size as my economy room, but much quieter and hence I was able to sleep well. The hotel itself is decent for a budget property, the rooms and bathrooms are well maintained, the receptionist who checked me in was quite nice, and they gave a free pass for all Hamburg transportation! But I am in no hurry to return to this neighborhood again!

My girlfriend and I have just returned from this hotel and it was everything we needed. It was so easy to get to. Take the S1 train from the airport to the main train station for 3.20 euros each (at the time of writing). The ticket machine gives change so don't worry about taking coins over. When you exit the station, you'll see the hotel across the road, to your right. When we checked in, they gave us free travel passes, which were really useful as we used the trams a lot. The train station and hotel aren't really near the tourist areas but it was really easy to get everywhere because of transport links. We didn't eat there so I don't know what the food was like. Breakfast is 14 euros each but there's a really nice bakery across the road that is much cheaper and you can sit inside. The room was spot on. We were on the 5th floor at the back so didn't hear any traffic etc. The room was quite small but we weren't in it that much. It was clean and had everything we needed. Top tip: if you're only taking hand luggage, shower gel is provided so don't worry about packing over 100ml etc. The staff were really helpful and there are some nice restaurants on the same street so I would definitely recommend this hotel.
