Stayed at Barcelo Hamburg for one night in a family room (Room 619+620). Room: The family room consisted out of a suite and an adjoining standard room. The rooms were absolutely stunning. Very large, lots of space, trendy and calm design. The junior suite had many, many windows and looked great. The beds were out of this world, one of the best hotel sleeps ever. Very large beds. The junior suite had Bulgari shower products. The bathrooms were good. The rooms were very clean. Did a "dust check" and could not find a fault. Personal: At the reception the personnel was rather neutral. Housekeeping was very friendly and so was the staff in the restaurant. Hotel Grounds: The only minus about this hotel is that the lobby/dining area lack atmosphere. Nice design, but somehow sterile. The backyard is not inviting for a drink. Location: Couldn't be better. Minutes from the railway station, at the main shopping area and one block from the Alster. Parking is 19 Euros at the hotel's parking hall. Breakfast: Very good! Nice to sit, not too busy. Food is very good and fresh and tasty. Really enjoyed it and this is how a breakfast should be. Lots of choice and nice touches. Overall: having stayed in several hotels in Hamburg, would rate this as the number one place to go!
We got in early - i'd actually asked for early check in, we got in it was the room we paid for but not the bed type, they gave us twins when i specifically booked a king - Called and asked for a change, they said we wouldnt get early check in as they were still cleaning - Okay No worries we'll go out while you sort it. Come back in hours afterwards and voila its the Bed we wanted but not the deluxe bigger room we paid for. unfortunately we were visiting for a wedding we were a part of and barely had time to shower change and head out to meet our party. Therein came the next issue- The Bathroom was atrocious, i mean i have never seen anything like it - Mold all over, pain chipping, dirty and just downright disgusting. I was so annoyed but we had to run out to catch our wedding party We ended up staying with the wedding party two days out of the 4/5 days we were there and the remaining we only came in to sleep( the bed was comfortable) Ughhh I was so happy to leave. I travel for work and ive been in alot of hotels and jeez i just cant- the pictures will show what i mean. I forgot my LV carryon bag cover and emailed them , no one ever responded to me . i asked my friends that live in Hamburg to stop by and pick it up, the hotel denied seeing it . We were supposed to stay at Le Meridien, Last minute my husband had me cancel Le Meridien to Stay at this junkyard and he is still paying for that stupid mistake at home. On checkout i showed the lady that checked us out the pictures and her mouth hit the floor. Never again book elsewhere
I have been to Hamburg several times before, but I have never stayed on such a wonderful place. Nice staff at the desk, loveley roms, nice breakfast, a bit expensive perhaps, and the most excillent location in the city. I would really like to stay here again.
Long weekend for me and my brother for our 40th. Hotel was nice and easy to get to from the train station and everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. I would definitely use this hotel again.
the location is perfect. Good, spacy rooms. Cleaning perfect, no carpets on the floors. Good size of safety box. Good quality and wide selection at Breakfast buffet. Direct elevator from the rooms to garage downstairs.
Great location within Hamburg proper. Close to main train station, shopping, tour bus starting point, restaraunts and all the action around the InnerAlster. The rooms are modern and a bit quirky from a North American perspective. Personally loved the room. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The food was excellent in both selection and quality.
We often stay in Barcelo hotels and they are always good. This one is no different and would have got five stars were it not for a problem at check in where they tried to double charge us for the room. I don't think this was entirely the fault of the hotel but it is not a good idea for accounts staff to venture front of house to try to solve such problems as they seem to have learnt their customer service skills from Basil Fawlty! Despite this initial hiccup I would still recommend this hotel. It is very well located, across the road from the hauptbahnof and close to the main shopping areas, has good facilities and nice rooms with wonderfully comfortable beds. The customer facing staff are also very friendly and helpful. It's not the cheapest but is worth the money, just make sure the voucher your booking agent gives you is correct!
I was with my wife in this great hotel, the cleaning, the service, everything was great. If you want a hotel to be relax after a day visiting the city, this can be your best choice. My wife and me left this place delighted. We only have to mention something, we had a discount voucher because we are repeaters guest and we could not take advantage of this because some extras are not included to be discounted. If you have this kind of voucher, try to ask in your check-in what it's included to be discounted. But it's a little detail, in general I highly recommend this hotel.
Excellent hotel in great location 5mins from main station 10mins from city centre & Rathaus Catch the hop on hop off bus at the main station.to get a good overall view of the city, there are several different lines so pick one that best suites your interests.
Just 5-10 minute walk to the Hauptbanhof and the Art Museum, and easy access to so many culture spots across this beautiful city! Our room was sunny and bright with a little rooftop garden outside our window!
