Hotel was clean, with modern design, not very pricy. Breakfast was very good, but it got a bit boring after the second day, we stayed for four nights... There was a small suana, but there was no one when I went, so the size didn't bother me. Great location.
The hotel was pretty nice, centrally located and very close to train station and nice parks by the lake. Unfortunately, the AC was broken, as well as the mini-bar - thus it was really hot. The hotel refused to change us rooms, thus I had my wife complaining during half of our stay, which was not at all a pleasant way to celebrate my birthday. Apparently, issues with the fridge and AC are a recurring issue - but as it's rarely hot in Hamburg, it seems the management of the hotel doesn't care.
The hotel is nice, nothing special. The rooms are clean and spacious, great location. Good for couples but I can see how some people dislike the open plan shower, not a problem for ourselves. The hotel seems to have something lacking. The check-in was quick and the room was available early but it literally was sign here and your room number is.... No the WiFi password is or any information given about the city. We did drink in the bar and were thinking about eating in the restaurant but decided against it as there was a complete lack of atmosphere.
Very nice hotel situated downtown Hamburg. Clean and spacious room, kind and obliging staff, perfect location close to the main station, and with shopping opportunities and restaurants almost right outside the hotel.
The location is simply excellent. Right in the center and close to the major sights. the service is great as usually in Hamburg. the room is spacious and the harbor quarter is stunning. I liked pretty much the location for a reasonable price.
Nice Hotel placed on a central and quiet location close to shopping streets and the harbor area, with the new and fantastic elbphilharmonie with a nice platform for an excellent free view to the harbor.
Overall: the location is great - it is in the central business area and close to everything, however its flaws meant that it was fine for a one night's stay but otherwise not recommended. We stayed in a deluxe room. Positives: The hotel looks great on first appearances and is stylish. The location and service are great. The staff assisted us in early check in, which we appreciated. Paying an extra 40 euros for a 6.00 pm checkout is a great idea and was well worth it given our timetable. Negatives: None of the following are deal breakers, but the sum of them meant that the hotel was not a particularly comfortable stay: The bed had an extra mattress layer on top, which kept sliding off and at different times each of us fell off the bed as the top mattress slipped off the base mattress. We had to change from the first room that we were given because when we sat on the bed one of the bed legs fell off - suggesting some maintenance issues in the hotel. There is visual privacy, but little sound privacy between the toilet and the room - not uncommon in some new hotels but irritating. The air conditioning was not particularly effective and the room was very stuffy for our stay even though we adjusted it - the street facing location meant that it was too noisy to keep a window open overnight. In summary: it met our needs for a 1 night stay to visit Hamburg Pride but at a total cost of 223 Euros should have been better.
My family (including 2 sons, 12 and 15) visited Hamburg over a weekend in June. Really enjoyed the Barcelo hotel. The rooms are modern and really beautiful. We reserved a "family room" which was super comfortable. It had an outer door that then led to the 2 doors for 2 separate rooms. Our sons shared one room and my husband and I shared a second room that also had a small sitting area that you can use to watch TV or play cards. Great layout. We liked the breakfast area and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing that could be a slight downside for some is the showers, which are transparent and not closed off from the bedroom area. This could be awkward for parties sharing a room who would like a little more privacy. Good location to the sights of Hamburg. Would stay there again!
This is a very nice, modern hotel located directly downtown Hamburg. Excellent location walkable to shopping districts, amenities, and attractions. The interior design of this hotel is excellent. The on-site restaurant offers contemporary cuisine for dinner and a good-sized breakfast buffet suitable for any taste. From the Barcelo, guests would be only a block or two from two art museums (fabulous) and the Hamburg Town Hall which offers very good tours of this palace-like building.
Great room, perfectly placed to walk to many of the sites you'll need to see in Hamburg. Close to the Mall in case you forgot toiletries or an umbrella. Parking is a bit tight. 5-minute walk to the train station. Highly recommend. I'll be staying there when I return to Hamburg.
