1. Big nice clean rooms, clean bathroom 2. nicely located , just 5-7 min drive to main attraction if no traffic 3. value for money, booked through booking.com 4. Didn't try breakfast so can't comment 5. Free parking 6. A supermarket right next to hotel, you can buy food, drinks Avoid: Rooms that face the road, if you need a quite night to sleep, avoid any rooms that face the road, there's lot of noise in the night.
Very bad location and very unfriendly staff. They tried to charge us 25 € for two small dogs, each. They don't have any information about the high rate when you do the booking - you get the information after your booking. (If you use booking.com) In our case we could'nt cancel without paying 90 % . They refused to discuss the price when we was in the reception. They know of course we had to pay if we cancelled. We cancelled anyway. We felt cheated and didn't want to be at the place. Now we have found a much better hotel with very friendly staff and with a good location.
We just had one night there on our way though Germany and Poland, so we wasnt there for long. But it's a lovely hotel, we had a nice big room with a bathtub - which was great after 7 hours on the road. The staff was friendly and helpfull - and the breakfast was served from 6, which was great, because then we could eat early and hit the road.
We were in Hamburg on a business trip, and didn't choose the hotel by ourselves. We found out which hotel it would be the moment we were in front of it. The positive aspects were perfectly clean rooms and bathroom, fast wi-fi free of charge and the staff. Breakfast was good, I liked the fact that they had quite nice selection of cheese, it was perfect for me. There is a supermarket just behind the hotel, which is also great. The downsides, as I can see almost everyone mentioned, is it's unfortunate location. My room was overlooking the road, so it was a bit noisy. Luckily, in July daylight is veeeery long, the dusk is not until 10:30pm, so it wasn't terrible to walk from the metro, and since we were there on business, we returned before dark. But, even in the daylight, it was obvious that the neighbourhood was not very charming... It indeed looked a bit shady and unsafe. The safest solution is to take a taxi if returning late. All in all, as I said in the headline 3 out of 5
We stayed here for one night as part of a Musical (The Lion King) trip to Hamburg. The hotel is good and the staff very accommodating. The room was clean and the breakfast was of a good standard. According to the Internet they have four stars which was given to them two years ago and is due for renewal in 2018, my guess is they will lose one star. At the moment there are major roadworks right next to the hotel which makes it difficult to get to if you are following a sat nav. Still that is not the fault of the hotel. Now the real down side, this hotel is in a really rundown and rough area of Hamburg. The tram station is about a 8-10 minute walk from the hotel, which in its self is ok, but you walk through a really rough area to get there. In daylight it was bad but at night it was really frightening. Would not recommend this for girls on their own. If you are going everywhere by car and can negotiate the roadworks then this is not a bad place to stay.
We were SO disappointed visiting this hotel! The room smelled bad and there was no possibility to get fresh air in during the days and nights because we had a window out to an extremely noisy highway. The room had no vent so the indoor environment was really bad. Besides that the distance to the center of Hamburg was so far away. The metro is 10-15 min. away from the hotel but not in the best neighborhood - we felt really uncomfortable walking to the metro - and it costs at least 20 EUR with a taxi. We were mostly disappointed of the shape of the hotel and it was definitely not a 4* hotel.
Let's do the positives first. The hotel is excellent; the staff are efficient; the large rooms are comfortable; and the price is incredible value for money. So why the doubts in my review title? As other reviewers point out- it's the area in which the hotel rests. Although the S- Bahn is just two stops from the main Hamburg station it is not an easy walk from Veddel station with luggage; and, although, we did not experience any problems with local residents, the area just left me feeling uneasy in the darkness of evening. Please don't be put off by this because there is a simple inexpensive way to overcome this: a taxi ride costs no more than €15 which I consider money well spent to stay in such a delightful hotel
Exceeded expectations. Good hotel to a good price. The surrounding area is not very attractive, but that is the only little thing. The decor is ok and well equiped. The breakfast was also super, with good selections.
This tired and old fashioned Hotel is situated in the middle of an area with industrial units and poor quality housing. It is at least a 15 minute walk from local transport and that walk is VERY scary after dark. The rooms look like they have not been touched since the 1980s and there is a weird half width door to the bathroom which also needs complete updating. The worse thing (after the area) is the NOISE. We asked for a quiet room but we were told that it would cost us extra, even though the hotel was around a quarter full. Believe me, I wish I had paid the extra!!! We should have known how bad it would be when part of the amenity kit were earplugs! The Hotel is right next to a major highway with large goods vehicles travelling 24 hours a day to and from the port. We were on the top floor but still the noise was so intrusive I went a whole night without sleep. The staff seemed totally disiinterested when we voiced our dissatisfaction with our the room and it's situation and merely shrugged their shoulders! STAY AWAY if you value your sleep and the safety of the neighbourhood!
I rent this hotel for 3 nights ,the hotel is good clean and comfy the reason that I put 3 starts is for the location poor and low class people,a lot Turkish &muslin people and heavy worker people drinking around of hotel very far away of center,I had to walk around 15 minutes to get the metro station the center is 2 stops after this station.. I should've paid a litle more and get a better location.Breakfast is good.
