City Hotel Hamburg Mitte3.0 out of 5.0

(I have stayed at this Hotel in February 2017.) Found a good offer for this place 1 week before our planned trip. It is within 10/15 min walking distance from the Central Station and the city centre. Breakfast was not included in our deal, and I recommend you shop from a nearby REWE store for some water and snacks as a bottle of water might cost you 5 euros at the Reception. Wifi required reconnecting every 20 minutes.
Went to Hamburg for the Xmas markets. Booked the hotel then read reviews. It's a pleasant 20min walk to the main city centre. Looks like hell from outside. Inside it's okay. Lift seems dodgey and only one was working though! Room was fine, nice looking. However, it was quite cramped. The pillows were a nightmare as well. Massive and not comfortable at all. Staff were always friendly and helpful.
My partner and I visited this hotel over 3 nights in December. The entrance is fine, but nothing that would waw you. We were quickly booked in and given our room number on the 11th floor. This worried me as I noticed on the way in 2 of the 3 lifts were out of order. I also think the only bedrooms being used are on the 10th floor upwards, we didn't see anyone use any of the lower floors our whole stay. The reviews about the lift are spot on - it sounds like a death trap but all the same I was glad it was there. The room itself was very clean and modern but very small. The double bed was 2 singles pushed together which is annoying when you feel yourself falling through the gap. Now for the pillows. Those massive pillows are the most uncomfortable things ever!! I thought people were moaning for the sake of moaning when I read the reviews about them but they're right!! It was so difficult to sleep with them. The room was also far too hot and I couldn't even feel the aircon working. We also left the window slightly open when we left in the morning to keep it cool on our return, only to find the cleaner closed it every time. Disappointing not to have a bar area downstairs too. Overall, clean, tidy hotel with a great shower but too hot and HUGE pillows. Get them changed!!
Great stay at the hotel. Check in was super efficient. Rooms very nicely decorated and clean. Couple of stations a short walk from the hotel. Hotel about 20 min walk from town centre. Would recommend this hotel.
Very confortable hôtel near of the town center Good welcome speaker différent langages The room cleane Bathroom very nice and confortable Near of concert place Theater at 4 minutes Near of train station
Elevator is terrible, looks dangerous. Building from outside looks very bad, there is only one restaurant which is close to hotel. Breakfast is good. Room (business) is very small, no space for the lagguage. Garage very poor.
I don't really get critical but this time I m doing it. Here goes. The location is a bit far from downtown Hamburg. More than 30 mins to get to the Rathaus. The surrounding area is a bit dull and lacking in shops, eateries or cafes. The building next door is vacant on the ground floor. The reception area is not proportional to the size of the building. It felt like walking to a hostel. There is no grandeur or even pretentious opulent to welcome you here. The staff are friendly and efficient. The room is clean. The view if you are on the rear /canal side is wonderful. The room is the right size for the price and the location of the hotel. I don't like the twin bed even though I cannot see there is enough inches to make them into two beds.may be I haven't specify a double bed.i can't remember. However a single traveller would still prefer a double bed surely. There is a luggage storage facility. I like. It's really suitable for healthy walkers. Not to bring anyone for a romantic break in Hamburg. She won't be impressed.
It was too dim to read a book. Much more light in the room, pleace. Matres was too soft and pillows too big. Bathroom was ok and clean. Elevator was a litle bit dangerous. Every ride you think, how did this end. Only one elevator in service.
Very nice and clean rooms but terrible pillows! Looks terrible from the outside but the rooms are great! The service was okey but the staff could have been a Little bit more service minded... The hotel was located rather close to the railway sation which, about 10 minutes walk.
Good: - 10 minutes from Hamburg Central Station; - newly-repaired hotel with nice furniture and bathroom; - good view from the window. Bad: - poor Internet; - not possible to connect the device to the HDMI of the TV, it's too close to the wall; - the room service isn't perfect, once we came home in the evening but the room wasn't cleaned despite we put the corresponding tag to the door; - no mini-bar and safe.
